    Been noticing every Theophany moment where heaven meets earth is on a mountain as well. As though the higher in elevation we are the more seemingly Holy a place is and the further away the more evil. Such as the abyss, Sheol, bottomless pit, and valleys.

    I never thought about the mountain connection theme running through the bible. Nice insight how the bible is connected from the begginning to the end.

      You are most welcome. I recommend Chad's "Limping with God" and "Night Driving: Notes from a Prodigal Soul" as well. (Chad's other books are still on my wish list.)

    “I made the nations shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell and together with those who descend into the Pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the depths of the earth.” KJV
    coming up soon
    who is he that went down together with the trees of Eden?

    Remember the Garden was located at the east end of Eden. The rivers were flowing out of the whole of Eden. The Garden doesn't have to be on the mountain top to still be on the mountain. Also Adam tended the Garden so God could come down the mountain and get to the Garden fairly quickly. Remember God didn't show up immediately after Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit but after they had already covered themselves. - 'As I read the scriptures.'

      Curious as to where you get this: "Also Adam tended the Garden so God could come down the mountain and get to the Garden fairly quickly." That is nowhere in the text and I have not even heard it in the traditions about Eden. Thanks (and I'm really just curious, more than challenging.)

      @@chadbird1517 That's true what you said. I was putting that parts together like Columbo. God would sit at the top of the mountain where he could look down on creation. The Garden logically would be the first place (the first temple) below the mountaintop. It doesn't have to be that way exactly but it could be. God could observe Adam and Eve's disobedience and observe what they did next (cover themselves). I admit it's a bit of my imagination to piece it together. After all the Bible leaves out details and only includes what God deems important for us to know. IMHO
      As always - thank you for responding to me.

    It’s a little frustrating that this is just one more detail that’s suspiciously typical of religious traditions.

    • @chadbird1517
      @chadbird1517  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      On the contrary, I find it entirely predictable and welcome. Were Israel and her Scriptures entirely unlike every other religious tradition, they would have to be an ahistorical fiction concocted by the equivalent of ancient science fiction writer, totally unrooted from the history of humanity. Of course there will be parallels in other religions and cultures since we are all human and (if you believe the biblical record) all stem from the same family, in the same part of the world. I see in all the flood stories, creation accounts, etc. nothing more than the partly wrong, partly right vestiges of the True Story recorded for us in the Hebrew Bible.

      @@chadbird1517 Thanks for the reply. Reading that, I'm flooded with objections that I won't share because there's no point in that ("special pleading..." and so forth). All I can say with any certainty is that I certainly hope that what you're saying is true. Introduce me to any other Christian and if I don't watch my mouth I can take their peace of mind that they'd figured it all out--that they have all our wildly disparate and confusing Bible stories fitting together nicely in their heads like puzzle pieces. I can flip the table and send the pieces flying. But that's no good. So, like I said, thanks for feeding me some hope; I'll add it to the reservoir.
