    First off, my sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom. It’s always hard to lose a parent, but I am happy she got to see your “Dream land” in Idaho. As far as your changing content, most of the FT RV’ers I follow are changing nowadays, as well as buying land for their part time living. You’re in the trend. @MountainBeaches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like we should be learning from you! We love the idea of rain water catchment, just not sure how well that works in locations that have harsh winters. Haven't found anyone yet that has done it in N. Idaho but I'm sure there is.

    • @TexasRoadrunners
      @TexasRoadrunners ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MountainBeaches We are in southeast Texas with very minimum rain fall but Texas supports individual rights to rain catchment and allow you tax free purchases of equipment. Just a little incentive to be more self reliant.

    I'll enjoy watching you settle in to the new property and building. We miss Idaho and wonder about moving back in a few years when I retire. Your comments on missing grandchildren really spoke to me because ours are small, and I can't bear the thought of leaving them - and now the new thought that in a few years - we could have them come stay with us, and also come visit them at their house.
    4-wheeler with a snow plow attached will need to fit in the barndominium, too!

    We too have left full time RVing. Many reasons, 1 being we wanted a safe haven. We chose oklahoma as that's where our investment properties are. If Tony wants to go work on one, he is here to do so. We are out in the quiet country and near a lake. We built a barndominium and just moved in last week. On Christmas we made plans for many travel trips up to 2 months at a time....life is full of changes and I hope your new adventures continue to make you happy. We will always continue to follow you ❤️.

    So sorry about your Mom. You guys are dealing with a lot of things right now! Take your time and do what's needed. Those of us waiting for your content will be here when you get back! Having said that, you will love living in N Idaho! We are currently in Moscow. Idaho (about 3-4 hours south of you). We were in country, moved in to town, and because of the way things are going are now looking for land to homestead....just like you guys! We also have camped all over N Idaho, first in a tent and now with our RV. There is so much to see and do out here. You will absolutely love it. Can't wait to see your content on homesteading and whatever else you show us! When you get breaks, you'll have to visit all the areas in Priest Lake. Off the top of my head, I can't remember where all you have been out there, but you have to go to Stagger Inn and Roosevelt Grove of Cedars, in February watch the sled dog races at the Priest Lake airstrip near Hana Flats, Hana Flats is also cool to visit in the summer, go to Beaver Creek Campground and make sure to take the hike to Upper Priest Lake from there, also on the other side of the lake Indian Creek and Lions are great campgrounds with spectacular views (they are a bit crowded, but well worth a visit). Near Sandpoint, if you ever get the chance you have to go up to Lunchpeak and stay over night in the lookout tower--incredible experience, that same area has tons of offgrid camping. Bonners Ferry is also incredible with the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge, several small lakes with camping, the Boundary Wildlife Management Area on the Canadian Border, and Moyie Falls by Moyie Springs is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in N Idaho...I could go on for hours! But, you will love it here. Looking forward to whatever you guys are going to come up with for content. Oh, and don't forget to go see the Eagles in CDA next week (Christmas Day through Jan 1st-ish).

    We are just hitting 3 years full time in the rv without any kind of home base. We will be spending the next year looking for a property to settle on but Alice can’t stand the cold so we will be settling near our kids in Gainesville Florida. Winters in Florida, summers traveling in the RV across the USA and Canada. We would love to set up a property in Florida off grid as much as possible, we would love to also have 10 acres, and some kind of bardominium would be awesome. Whatever we build will be very small, 500sq feet living space or less. This video was a great idea giving viewers an update on your plans. Look forward to seeeing what is coming next. I hope you include details on the off grid cabin. Looks like you guys are enjoying your life. Larry

    I actually watch a few off grid TH-cam channels who have well in excess of one million subscribers, as so many people really enjoy off grid content. I belive your channel will also grow based on your new direction. I really look forward to seeing you create your dream.
    I certainly understand why you would want to build a home in a more isolated location, and agree with you that it will be a safe haven for you and your family. Unfortunately, our country is changing fast, and it’s clearly not for the better. I hope I’m wrong, but if we continue to head in the direction we’re going, the future of our country, or perhaps even the world doesn’t look promising, in my opinion of course.
    I’m really sorry to hear about your mom. We just lost our mom, and although it’s difficult for us, it’s easier coping with our loss knowing she’s much happier now that she’s with Jesus, and has no pains or difficulties anymore.

    As John Lennon wisely put it - life happens as you make other plans. I wish you well in your self sustaining efforts. We had 20 years of that, albeit with more limited funds. We found it too difficult, and tired of constant work, repairs, improvements and finally took our leave. If we'd had more disposable income, it would have been different, I'm sure. But as we age, we've not regretted our move. Best advice would give us to invest well in your generator - no pull cords! With your energy and passion, I'm sure you'll be successful and have years to enjoy there. Wishing you good health and long lives! Waiting to see more next Spring! 🤩

    Personally, I love you two and I don’t care what you are doing, I will follow you. I’ve had my husband watch you with me too. We our outdoor people. We have just under 50 acres in Central east Ohio with a log cabin on it that my husband built from scratch, no kit! We have a fifth wheeler that I drag my husband and dogs along with camping. We have a son and daughter-in-law with their pups that live in Idaho so we have a lot in common. I think you two are a great couple and entertaining to watch. You have a forever fan in me! I wish you both health, happiness and safe being with the unknown of what the future years are and I know you are on the right track of what you are striving for! Very smart!!
    Thank you for the time, work and energy that it takes to produce your videos and know that you are much appreciated and enjoyed. I feel like I know you even though we have never met. But it would be a thrill for me to have that opportunity one day. God bless you both and have a very Happy New Year! ❤❤

    Found you in the RV space but I’ll stay. My father in law built their bermed home in 1988. They heat with wood in an energy efficient wood burning stove that is connected to vents and a thermostat. One problem they did not foresee is the house is on 3 levels . All those stairs are becoming an issue as they get older. Something to consider as you plan.

    Very excited for you in your off grid building and the idea of a barndominium. Wondering if your concept of self sufficiency includes any kind of animal husbandry, and if so will that involve separate out buildings for their protection and maintenance? And, also how will you handle leaving the homestead for your RV travelling vacations, etc.? Seems like a conflict of two kinds of worlds. This is a struggle we have had in our own thinking of how to shape our future. If the economy really crashes, then retirement plans… 401(k)’s, investments, savings, etc…. Become a mute point and you can’t just go buy you’re food. Will you be building a high tower to extend a growing season of a garden? What about harvesting and storing of food? What about protection against thieves? True off-grid subsistance living seems so complicated! I think the idea of plugging into a community is crucial, so am very glad you have that there in Idaho. God bless!

    Hey Kim and Norm glad to see you are doing okay! And sorry for your recent loss. I too have been an executor in the past and it is no fun. Extremely time-consuming so I understand where you're coming from. I spent three days on the phone just trying to cancel credit card accounts LOL. Anyways, your dreams and Adventures ahead of you are what life is all about, so go out there and make it happen. We mostly watched you for the off grid camping. We do pretty much the same thing as much as we can, however I still work so that puts a big damper on it LOL. However we still enjoy watching you develop an off-grid Homestead. I have been in construction work for over 40 years , so it's kind of fun to watch you build your dreams while learning along the way. So we will be checking in from time to time to see how you're coming along. Please take care of yourselves. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We'll see you out on the trail.

    So sorry for your loss, I lost both my parents, 4 yrs apart, when I was in my 30’s. My husband lost his dad 17 yrs ago. So his mom is the only one of our parents left. My husband is the oldest. We’ve always thought we’d want to go either full time or part time RV’ers but we’ve realized being weekenders/ week long campers is really perfect for us. We love our home & our little town & just really don’t want to leave it. We’ll still be watching y’all🤗

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  ปีที่แล้ว

      And guess what Lisa? You get to be you! If weekend/week long camping is what brings you joy then that is awesome you found it. We love camping but never felt like selling the home and going FT. WE did take a 4 month trip and another one of 3 months and loved every minute of it but we knew we would go back home after. Our plans really haven't changed all that much, we'll just be at a different starting location. Merry Christmas and thanks so much for your support.

    I lost my Mom a year ago and am executor as well. So when I say I understand how hard it is, I really do to a point. I am finally seeing the finish line and I pray you have an easier time. Condolences on your loss.
    Your future looks so exciting. I could never be so far away from my family and envy those who can. We decided when we built our home not be off grid and now that hubby is 70 and very arthritic, we are not even continuing with chickens in the future. Guess we are just not adventurous enough. lol. We do love taking our Grand Design Imagine out as often as possible, especially to the UP of Michigan.
    Happy Holidays to you and your family and many blessings on your new endeavors.

    Thank you for your honesty about the new direction of your channel. This is refreshing. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed your content. Stationary off grid is not what we were looking for in a channel. Off grid camping is our quest. We did however enjoy watching you two start developing your Idaho property. So, we will probably watch the next few videos and decide to keep on as subscribers, or unsubscribe. Just being honest, as you have been with your viewers. Seems like we are outliers in the long list of loyal viewers. Whatever we choose, we thank you for your content, and wish you two a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

      Thanks SO MUCH for being with us in the past. As we said in the video, we totally get it if people don't want to continue following us. We had many that unsubscribed yesterday but many many more that stayed on. Either way we are just grateful for all the many people who have welcomed into their homes on a regular basis over the years. Merry Christmas and maybe we'll see you on the road sometime. If you decide to stay, we see you again soon.
