My husband and I had applesauce last night for dessert but ours definitely wasn't homemade...I keep saying I am going to try canning every time I watch you. Salsa, marinara, etc. You have the cutest kitchen helpers...I bet the house smelled heavenly...🍎🍎

I'm always on the lookout for a Victorio strainer like yours when I thrift. The older ones are the very best.

Homemade applesauce...The best! Chloe is such a good helper. You can see her paying attention and learning. Sweet Weston growing so fast. Have a good week. 💞

I also use honey crisp or autumn crisp apples. I peel and core my apples, put them in the pot, cook them down and then use a potato masher to mash them down. The potato masher helps with the texture. I can make the sauce chunky or smooth as my family likes both. I also freeze my sauce.
I am going to give the oatmeal bites a try. They looked delicious.

Ok!! I was on the fence for canning up some applesauce. Tis the season and will put up some. Thanks for the encouragement. Your jars and muffins look great.

Mmmm...your applesauce looks delicious! Just the way I like it, too - slightly tart apples (honey crisp are faves!) and no added sugar. Perfection!
Chloe is the best helper! Whatever will you do when she goes off to school with Jamison? Maybe Weston will be ready to step in. I can't believe how big he's gotten! And still getting prettier by the day! He's still young enough to refer to as "pretty" - won't be long before he's not happy with that! 😂
    Have a wonderful week, Amy!
Oh, and I'm still loving your kitchen makeover! I know, I say it every time, but I still can't get over how much more light it seems to have and much bigger it looks! ❤

What did you do with the leftover apple stuff after the strainer? Flavor for muffins? Pie? Apple butter?

I love making applesauce! I freeze mine though. I noticed you didnt add any lemon juice or citic acid to make it shelf stable. Do you not have to? I canned it once and when i opened the jars the top of them were turning black. All the jars were sealed as well so i don't know what happened other than i didn't add anything to it. That's why i freeze mine now.😅
