@1:20 "as for this set, for tv connection, cables are not included" and below lists parts to purchase separately, i think. thank you for these fantastic videos, yauy!! best intro ;)
The best part of cartridges is the Japanese and the US games are only blocked by tabs for Super NES and N64 and the pin layout for NES. For people in the US who some how got a Japanese cart they could easily make an external mod to a non-collection system to play them. Too bad disks mess that up x.x Great videos by the way!
It was bittersweet when I opened my N64 for the Christmas of 1998. I found out that I needed the sold separately RF switch as I only had a hand me down TV and VCR at the time and they were so old that they only had the RF option. So I had to wait two days to be able to play it as my parents didn't want to fight the gift exchangers the day after so when we did go I was able to get both GoldenEye and the RF adapter. I had received Yoshi Story and Mario Kart 64 as well as the normal system seen here, but with the Atomic Purple controller.

My first consoles were the Nes in 1985 and Master System in 1986 (had/have them both). I love all gaming and I for the life of me cannot understand why you would rather have an N64 over any PlayStation console. Especially anything before the PS3. I got my PSX and Saturn in 1995. The very second I fired up my PSX with Ridge Racer I knew the video game business was changed for the better...for ever. I got an N64 in 1996 and I thought it was okay...the lack of games and the terrible cartridge format is what held it back. There's a reason the PS1 and PS2 crushed Nintendo. As far as the Xbox goes...Microsoft has brought so much to the table that it's impossible to exclude them from anything. Everything from reinventing the FPS for consoles to getting us online with perfection is highly note worthy. I would say the original Xbox did more for console gaming than the N64 did by a wide margin. First console with a built in hard drive, first console with a built in high speed network interface card, first X86 based console (I believe), first console with an online community, the first console with VOIP through high speed in box, and the first console with installed games too name a few. I would much rather start with the Xbox or PS2 over almost any Nintendo console. Addendum- I will leave you with this...unless Nintendo does something and fast they're going to push themselves out if the market. Getting a sub HD console to run with HD built machines is far easier than HD vs 4K. Unless 3rd parties are willing to scale back their products across the board those companies are going to walk again. Unlike sub HD to HD you can't simply upscale to a similar picture with 4K and downgrading the new games to 1080p is simply untenable. I hope Nintendo pushes out a 4K machine if not....
Some models of the Japanese N64 DID include AV cables. Or so ive heard. My cousin's dad was stationed in Japan, and they got a Japanese N64 that did include AV cables. As for the Super Famicom, you did have to buy the cables separately as it was specified on the box, which is the same label on your N64.
A friend of mine gave me his japanese N64. He said that it didn't came with an AV cable and, since he didn't own a Super Famicom, he brought a third party one.
Aww not gonna do more unboxing videos? :( I was hoping for an actual series doing unboxings of other things like the original Gameboy, accessories and popular games from the NES Supe NES 64 and Gameboy stuff like that just an idea great videos!
Very interesting, but watching this series made me think of something; is there really a point to region locking anything? All foreign people wanting to buy your exclusive game or console really just means more money, so I never see the point to region lock games, controllers, or consoles for that matter.
So I got my Nintendo 64 pretty early because my brother broke his leg and was in a full body cast at the hospital stuck playing the same SNES game the hospital had over and over. So my dad convinced the person at Toys R Us to sell the console to him early because my brother was six years old and miserable and alone a lot. The interesting thing about my model is that the AC adapter(transformer) is attached to the console itself. So you can't remove the wire without taking apart the console itself. I am having a lot of trouble finding info about this model and was wondering if you knew anything about it.
I know this is an old vid but I just bought an NTSC-J N64 and thought i was missing the bottom piece of cardboard box, no I had foam too so thank you WoN.
lol and I actually thought it was a region lock chip until now. Knew it was physical with the snes, even have a SNES model with holes bored in the plastic to play the games. Not the boxed one I have though thankfully.
the main reason is that i don't have any pokemon items in my collection. i *just* missed the pokemon craze due to my age and to get in to it now would cost thousands of dollars in collecting. plus, it doesn't really interest me all that much so it's easier just to stay away. to me, nintendo is what i remember from when i was young: mario, metroid, zelda, etc. thanks for the question!
probably because Europe's was based on Japan's SNES and N64. It doesn't matter anyway, because US and Japan consoles cant play PAL games and vice versa, it will display a message saying they aren't compatible. Oddly enough though, if you mod your American SNES or N64, it will play the Japanese games just fine, as they both use NTSC formats. They are only a physical region lock as opposed to a chip region lock.
You are aware that they didn't simply translate and port Animal Forest to Animal Crossing, right? Doubutsu no mori + with its advancements is actually what became Animal Crossing. Animal Forest is rather limited, and doesn't allow nearly all the same things Animal Crossing does- no shoving and hitting animals to annoy them for starters.
Only thing i dont like about the Japanese Nintendo Packaging is the lack of info the box gives. Compared to the American N64 packaging, it explained alot.
If I lived in Japan or America, I'd import games from the other country and simply file away those corners on the cartridge so they fit into my system.
Wish Nintendo stuck with consoles like N64 SNES and Gamecube instead of going with gimmicks like Wii and Wii U. Take the tabs out the N64 can play Japanese games.

It opens with a gamebit screwdriver and change its case from the Japanese game to the housing of the other American N64 game and so it works
I like how smoothly the switch goes on. The switch on my console requires like 900 pounds of force to turn on and off
Loving these videos!

He sounds like Mathew Broderick.
Real nice set here. Hopefully you kept this thing in great shape.

sorry
Okay, last one
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I couldn't resist. XD
New Super Mario Bros, Wii-iiiiiiiiiii!
I am so thankful for the fact that my first console I was shown to as a kid was this and and the Nes instead of something like the x-box or ps2

i'm glad you enjoyed them :)
That was awesome. You should do more unboxing. So detailed.
Will you ever unbox the GameCube or DSes? And what about the Virtual Boy?
eventually, yes. thanks for your interest!
YES THANK U FOR PUTTING THIS COMMENT

Could the slit in the styrofoam in the bottom right corner at 2:03 have been intended for AV cables?
11:30 what if u just replace the back cover?
So wait? No unboxing for GameCube and Wii?

Have you done a followup of that driveby pickup of that Famicom? It sounds like an old creepypasta story.
I haven't even watched the video, but I already really enjoy it just because of that intro.
Lol you Made the videos out of order since the SNES redesign was made after the N64 so they did improve the packaging for the Snes mini :P
I seriously wonder how you were able to acquire practically vanilla boxed-consoles like that.
awsome man... i still remember unboxing my n64... thanks for the video.
You make great videos man, keep it up!
I MISS MY GODDAMNN64, MY CONSOE DIED LAST YEAR, AND I'M SO SAD.
have you gotten a new one? its been 8 years?
Why's the plastic inside mine green?
It does say that it doesn´t come with a TV cable and you need to buy it yourself :)
Why do you only own black 64's?
I know this is an old vid but I just bought an NTSC-J N64 and thought i was missing the bottom piece of cardboard box, no I had foam too so thank you WoN.
yauy could you do an unboxing for the n64dd
Can u play Japanese games with the us version?
Did you buy the japan 📺 🎮 console on your pc??
"Cost saving engraving" was that a rhyme on purpose?
Probably assuming you already own the A/V cable from the SNES.
✅
I have a Japanese N64 an I modified the cartridge tray so both Japanese and American cartridges fit.
Not necessarily, you can mod the thing a bit. Search up "region free N64" to see how.
What happened if u open the game and swap the memory would the Japan would read the usa games?
You could just file away the corners on the cartridges so they can fit in your system.
i think it was just because nintendo was slow to change. styrofoam does offer better protection, though.
I never had this but now I can play n64 on Switch with homebrew
Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the current in Japan compared to the USA?
Yes. You can mod the thing a bit; search up "region free N64" to see how.

I noticed that the PAL cartridges have the same region tabs as the Japanese versions, so I bet there's a software lockout for these games.
Pudgems No you just have to remove the gray dust thing and you can play.
I had the star wars pod racer version back in 1998 I think is when that version came out
1999
+adultmoshifan87 thanks I knew it was around that time
What's the deal with styrofoam? The only issue I see is that it can make a mess other than that it's fine.
¡gracias!

Jude Law yeah makes sense
wow that looks really nice. I wish I owned a n64.
The Japanese packaging looks so much better than the North American packaging. Simple and to the point, just how it should be.
Only thing i dont like about the Japanese Nintendo Packaging is the lack of info the box gives. Compared to the American N64 packaging, it explained alot.
it is not named the famicom 64 in japan, lol
I so want all your game systems I'm so jealous I have a Canadian n64 but I want all your consoles
If I lived in Japan or America, I'd import games from the other country and simply file away those corners on the cartridge so they fit into my system.
I got Nintendo 64 , too!
N64 Japan/North America (1996) & Europe/Australia (1997)
Tienes toque humorístico 🤗
¿Por qué dices eso?
@@yauy po r el Nintendo 64!!!!!!! perdón yo también me dedico a la comedia y Nintendo
Visita @Nintendo Clásico
now do game cube and wii
Nooo keep that Mario party sealed lol
Games all work, just need to "modify" your system- i.e. chop out that plastic preventing it.
N64 fanon America/Asia (1996) & Africa/Antarctica/Europe/Oceania (1997)
the japanese cartridges look just like the european
And something your not supposed to do nothing with! :D
WTF is wrong with Nintendo? Like, for f sakes Nintendo, include cables with your consoles!
Bill Hetherington I know right and they are getting so much flak for it
do a snes giveaway
Ohhh, nvr mind
de rien :)
Man you need to chill out about the styrofoam
Wish Nintendo stuck with consoles like N64 SNES and Gamecube instead of going with gimmicks like Wii and Wii U. Take the tabs out the N64 can play Japanese games.
There's nothing to unbox.
I was 6 years old when i got mine ☺ my first system was NES 1991
