I'm glad that Ultraman is getting a second chance in the US after years of copyright issues. It's amazing to think a series from 55 years ago has been going strong with new series once a year and I'd like to think the spirit or Eiji Tsuburaya would be proud to see his creation lasting far longer than he thought.
It hasn't been going consistently since the beginning, there have been gaps, but there have certainly been many series and there have been more series than there haven't been.
Yeah and more the fact that Tsuburaya themselves made ultraman more accesable worldwide with new series being uploaded on they're official youtube channel
Hideaki Anno, creator of Evangelion, has stated that there was no 3 minutes rule of the color timer being depleted in the original series until Ultraman Jack. Rather it was only deplete rapidly. It is mind blowing to watch back and not noticed such minor details.
Ultraman is a hero who saves humanity from other kaiju. He's such a cool character. TitanGoji even has Ultraman as his profile picture! Also happy 50th birthday Hedorah
So, as a fan of the genre my whole life, my spectrum was almost solely Godzilla and Gamera. However, going from con to Con and japan-centric stores i'd see all of these iconic monsters but never knew their context. It's amazing to me that their imagery alone is so powerful I know them by face but not by name. Well, I intend to remedy that now. you can say your videos inspired someone to go out and purchase the subject material.
Funny you mentioned Challenge from the Year 2020, though you may have known that for an episode for 2020’s Ultraman, Ultaman Z, he faced against the same Kemer man while continuing the story paying respects to it.
When I was in Uni, I rewatched the whole series. You are right, episode My Home is Earth is certainly my favorite. It was the first time I could really feel the tragedy and deep lore it sometimes has in "kids show".
If Godzilla represent Japan's creation of nuclear destruction and a tragic villain, Ultraman represent Japan's creation for their country's bright future & hope as well as an inspiration of a hero. Without him, there will be no Kamen Rider and Super Sentai(aka Power Rangers) today. Even Evangelion was inspired from Ultraman.
This kinda makes me wish we got a Ultraman series set after ww2. Where Ultraman (who would be like venom and Eddy Brock) defend a recovering Japan from monsters and aliens, as the ultra learns from humanity and the 2 become Japan’s greatest hope.
My favourite tokusatsu franchise ever, tbh I dont even know why I have great attachment to this franchise,I guess it was because I grew up with the franchise
Great video! Ultra Q was a mighty tough act to follow, but the original Ultraman series still remains a highlight of what tokusatsu media can achieve. The characters and stories still hold up and, of course, the monsters are always incredible.
Ultraman has been a part of my childhood and many other peoples and I loved that Marvel did a comic series on him, when I get to where when I wanna go, ill make sure he gets the American treatment like Marvel
Wow!!! I love this upload about Ultraman, and the rogues gallery of Ultras and kaiju!!! But, most of all the Beautiful and Awesome way that you closed out the program with a mind blowing narrative and background music!!! Awesome Channel!!! Also, please tell me what is the name of the instrumental music that is playing, in the background!!!
Hands down the best continuing franchise of all time. Beating out DC, star trek and star wars. For it's inspiration for it's message from space. The only thing I can compare it to for it's constancy of vision is Warhammer which brings the spectacle of a hellish, apocalyptic possible outcome of the human evolution to a bitter , tragic end. Where humanity has completely lost control and turns against itself like rabid animals, with a mad purpose, to kill everyone and come out on top, which is absolutely ridiculous and one of the reasons I place in the category of high regards because of it's ridiculousness. Just like with Ultraman, but in the direct opposite of the spectrum of light. A heroic race of Titans from the land of light. Who have reached the absolute, and help the lesser creatures man. ♥️
the ultraman franchise is one of these things that when you get into it's like you unlocked some hidden lore of japanese culture when you start noticing ultraman references in nearly all kinds of japanese media

If only the Reiwa Era of Ultraman can be as good as the Showa and Heisei Era, i mean like since the reiwa era comes there only like 20-26 episodes i mean even the Showa to heisei era had at least 30-35 episodes
The fact that Shin Ultraman's first appearance was grey at the beginning of the movie instead of his iconic silver & red color was a callback from the original design, the TV on that time was black & white color and its show's predecessor, Ultra Q(which was black & white TV color).
I once found a copy of G-Savior at my local second hand store. Seriously. Not much else to add, I don't even remember what store it was. But the fact that your impossible example was something that actually happened to me was just so weird I had to comment about it!
One of the hardest things about Ultraman for me to get into it was the fact that Ultraman brutalized the kaiju, rather ruthlessly, and more often than not, the kaiju weren't evil, they were just large animals. It's easier to watch kaiju fight and kill each other, like in Godzilla or Gamera because it's two animals and one is clearly the good guy and one is clearly the villain. However, in Ultra Man, we have a large sapient humanoid who can make moral and ethical choices and often the kaiju are so tragic that it , for me personally, makes Ultraman look like a murderous bully. Now, clearly this concept is fully realized in Red Man more than Ultra Man proper, but these were feelings that I felt as someone who was very new to Ultraman, having grown up as purely godzilla/gamera watcher, and while I still hold some of that to be true to some extent ( like...if they Kaiju is clearly not in the same league as an Ultra and he's just playing around with them like a cat does with a mouse, that leaves a real bad taste in my mouth, just end the threat and be done with it. It feels sadistic) I do realize, especially after watching the Seabozu episode and seeing that Ultraman, and the series in general, struggles with all the death, made me feel better about the series as a whole That said, Ultraman Gaia is my favorite by default because he heals/saves/spares a lot of the kaiju and only the truly villanous ones are taken out
@@toku-punk Yes! you're right! I actually meant to say Cosmos, although Gaia is an Ultra in a similar vein. I am still something of a neophyte when it comes to the Ultra fandom
It's where Redman comes in. Every episode is like some comedic slasher flick where Redman kills the kaiju again or gets his ass beat for attempting to do so. It's such a joke in of itself that Ultraman Z makes a slight joke referencing the fact one of his forms suspiciously looks like a certain red character. Ultraman Z does basically come to the same conclusion as Gaia so that's good.
They reuse costumes?! Does that mean the monster Jirass is just a Godzilla costume with frills?! (Even has one of the actors who wears the Godzilla costume) Lol
Yup, Jirahs is the Godzilla suit spray-painted. In fact, the only reason why Jirahs even has a frill was because the head and body of the suit were mismatched: The body was the 1964 Godzilla suit (from Mothra vs. Godzilla) while the head was from the 1965 Godzilla suit (From Invasion of Astro-Monster). The frill was added to hide the fact that the two parts didn't match.
I like your videos because I love Ultra-sereis I wonder how will you judge Ultraman Trigger 'cause I hate it,it might be the worst Ultraman show of all time
Godzilla is symbolism of past mistake and present redemption however Ultraman is symbolism of enlightenment hope and everlasting dreams and also Ultraman is symbolism of courage, bravery, morality, respect, redemption, friendship, family, relationship, love, and sacrifice as we know many ultras in the series are symbolize like ultraman tiga in the past tiga who was become giant of light because of following yuzure's words geed had determine to change the destiny because of his father ultraman belial ultraman trigger his love to carmeara never betrayed but why trigger betrayed the giants of darkness why because of light and light is warm and harmless and for russo and blues brothers the love of their sister is equivalent to protect their sister at end in pre ultraman R/B series father of ultra and mother of ultra wanted to make their son taro to grew up as a good person that's why the meaning of ultraman a family a friendship and all good virtues to achieve because I'm a Filipino fan of ultraman godzilla and Kamen rider thank you eiji tsuburaya and thank you toei company
As a child I was mortified when Ultraman ripped/tore off the Gojira Clone with the Frill/fringe..... I was upset for days...... traumatizing. Seriously.
Rest in peace, Masanari Nihei.
Such a great & hilarious character in the show!

When I was a kid in the 60 and 70s we had the original ultra man on local tv every day after school we watched it I still love it to this day

"Monsters are tragic beings: they are born too tall, too strong, too heavy" The tragedy that this all applies to ultraman.
Not quite, Ultras are quite adept at blending into the populace, for one.

This was a great video of ultraman no doubt, loved everything about it! Ultraman is the G.O.A.T 💯

Ultra Q was part of my childhood
They had yet to make Godzilla crossover Gamera and Ultraman
The place of Showa era ultra man series is easily the start trek in the Far East.

Can you do Ultra Galaxy mega monster battles ( including NEO and ultra galaxy legends the movie) PLEASE 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I only know the monster in ultra series were just innocent like you said. But i never know Ultraman feel guilty about them.
