In this video I head back to Zinc Creek to find some Beautiful Blue Agates and Deep Red Carnelian. The area had a fire sweep through the year before which opened up large areas that are great for rockhounding. Enjoy the video and I hope you're having a great spring! 43.03242881967324, -122.73986889120943
Thanks man that means a lot coming from you ^^ Definitely think the fires are causing those fractures in many cases. I've been to a number of burn zones now and see the same thing every time; changes the colors and fractures the heck out of everything. I think of it like pottery ; Ceramics are cooked at lower temps than stoneware and the heat changes the properties. I need to read about it instead of imagining things
Amazing place. Everything looked good to me, but the blue agate and the color of the carnelian were amazing. I'd love to find this place. Thanks so much for the safety information. I never knew or realized the fire would affect tree roots and create sink holes! Amazing. thanks for another great video. PS: Great graphics too!💕👍💕
Thanks June ^^ This is such a great spot. I've made sure to put the GPS coordinates in the video description. The area has got much to explore and is not overwhelmingly steep; plenty of gently slopes for the whole family ^^ I always appreciate your support and hope to chat with you soon!
@@TheRogueRockhound The "gentle slopes" comment is appealing to this 82 year old. LOL. If you haven't yet quit your day job to do this work full time, I think you will be able to soon. My daughter Erin just said she unsubscribed from a popular you tube rock hounder because he never shares any information. Your generosity is what is going to get you skyrocketing on You Tube! We just have to get people to find you. Doing weekly videos helps or so say those who put out videos on your tube on how to increase your subscribers. Not all videos have to be about long trips, etc. I even like watching videos of people cutting what they've found! I'd love to see you do a video of your favorite places/or your favorite finds - a rock "show and tell" video. 💕💕😊😊💕💕
Awesome finds after the fire. So much material. Too bad it was so fractured from the fire. But the finds you got were awesome! Gorgeous color and variety! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome burned forest finds!! I love hunting in burns, but i hate it how fractured the material can be most the time. Those carnelians and crystals are real nice 👌 Love your channel, keep up the great work!
Thanks and yeah the fires are a double edged sword. My primary goal when the fires come through is map the deposits so when the brush comes back I'll know where to go ^^
@@TheRogueRockhound yep. There's only a small window after a fire. About 2 years, and the plants and organic debris start to re cover everything again... but at least you got it all mapped out for the future!
Oh my God, that blue agate with the crystal pocket is killer! Some really nice pieces of quartz too. I always love the jasper that you find also. And its always a pleasure to see collab with you and Quest. That 36" blade had a pretty gnarly ding in it, that was kinda crazy. Oh yeah, I really liked that carnelian looking juicy agate at around 7:00 I think it was. Outstanding video, buddy! Very much enjoyed it. Rock on 😁🤘
@@TheRogueRockhound you're darn right you are! 😆🤘 you'll be the first one I hit up next time I'm in Oregon. Hoping next year to go back and not be stuck driving a Uhaul all over Oregon! 🤣🤣🤣 This year I'm shooting for Utah or Arizona. Thank you kindly for your standing offer, buddy.
Hey, love your videos! I went up to the coordinates you put and I couldn’t find anywhere near the road that was a clearing that I could walk down/up to. Am I just really special and missed it? Lol
Thanks for watching! Hmm, I just checked the coordinates I posted and am getting the same spot I was at. There is a number of "flatter" areas right around that spot. If the coordinates are not working for ya, PM me on IG or FB and I'll send you another set of coordinates. Thanks again!!
Thanks as always for sharing sir, much appreciated! Pretty stuff IMO, making me thirsty to get out and scour the lands for beautiful chunks of mother earth~ Thanks again, hope you have a super rest of your week!
Hey man, how ya doing? I appreciate you watching and hope all is well. Hope the spring is treating you well my friend and I look forward to chatting with you soon. Don't be a stranger buddy ^^
Thanks Krawdad! Great to see you! Hope you get a chance to check out those coordinates, lots of material up there buddy. IDK if you saw my recent video from the Applegate, but that is a spot you've got to check out as well. Take care and don't be a stranger!!
Super nice, I love the Tiller area. Just wondering what you do with all the rocks you are finding? The blue ones look incredible🥰. I love rockhounding!
Thank you for the beautiful video! I would love to find some crystals like that. Do you belong to any rock groups or do you recommend doing that? I've been told if you join you can use equipment and go on field trips. I have lots of tumblers but no saw yet. Thanks again! Julie
Thanks for watching Julie! Yes, I've been a member of the Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society (RAGMS) for some time now and use their shop frequently. I highly suggest becoming a member to anyone local. Field trips are pretty great too, lots of kind and generous people.
Thanks for watching! Zink Creek is in Douglas County in SW Oregon. Exact coordinates can be found in the video's description if you'd like to visit the spot.
None taken. I appreciate the honesty. The music is such a struggle. Thanks again and I'll continue to work on balancing the music aspect of my videos ^^
