Would have been honored to have my son play for him. And I noticed some slanted comments on here. I’ll just go ahead and assume you were some, no sport playing, band member, try hard that does not know the meaning of discipline.

I moved to Indiana as an eighth grader in 1984, and immediately became emerged into Indiana basketball which I supported and enjoyed, I've had a lot of respect in certain areas in regards to coach night I will say one thing based off the way I was raised and my over two decades of service in the United States military airborne community. And that is Bobby Knight always talked about respect he always talked about discipline but he was one of the most ill disciplined and disrespectful people I've ever seen and how he treated others that asked him questions he didn't like being asked or didn't agree with him. I've never met the man in person like millions I've only seen him on TV coaching the game of basketball and I've only seen him in interviews and post game interviews, many of which he was completely obnoxious and rude to stereotypically small community reporters who are just there to cover the game. I know many people older people than me in Indiana who still believe Bobby Knight is basketball Almighty, watching Bobby Knight's rants can be somewhat entertaining but again I go back to my original and main thought which is Bobby Knight completely fails himself as a person in regards to being respectful and having discipline.

@@dannycorsaro546 no I've watched enough of his live post game interviews growing up to realize that the vast majority of sports reporters were just simply trying to do their job and for some reason that I have not been able to understand he particularly took joy in trying to humiliate and belittle Small Town sports reporters from local communities coach Knight at every step of his adult life preached respect for elders and authority respect for oneself discipline all things that he advocated that others follow but he himself never did. At every step of his career he was disrespectful to the administration of IU the administration of the NCAA and the administration of some opposing universities he was rude and obnoxious to reporters to fans to alumni that's not to say that he was always at fault because he was not personally there's part of me that agrees with the type of practices and the discipline that he tried to instill in the athletes but overall he had some deep psychological issues. And as time went by really starting in the late 1980s and just blew up throughout the 90s and early 2000s is Bobby Knight's legacy and fame grew in his head more than it did in real life he started believing a lot of the hype about him

OK, I'm officially puzzled with your comment. Why would the world need more low-character, low-class bullies like Bobby Knight?

I would like to be a fly on the wall during a press conference where both Bob Knight and John Tortorella are in the same room. Two legendary coaches that don't take shit from no one.

One thing Bob Knight never understood or cared about was how important the media was to subsidize his program. He benefited greatly from the large TV contracts with NBC and later CBS. This brought in $$$ which assisted in recruiting and helped pay his salary. He in turn consistently bullied the media, most of whom were doing their job. He acted this way because he had the power, as no one until Miles Brand stood up to him. If you acknowledge the greatness in Knight, you should also admit his flaws.
