    What would you recommend other potential CELTA trainees NOT to do during the CELTA course? Let me know in the comments below.

    I'm looking at taking the course in the next couple of months. There are so many videos on succeeding, which is good! However, it is interesting to see the other side of the coin to see what is expected. Thank you 🙏

    Just pass the course.my advice; if you want to take the course make sure you're really committed. Follow tutors feedback, get close to your peers, do and submit assignments on due date, make sure you use appropriate resources for references, follow lesson plans during TPs, degrade your language during TPs, build a good rapport with students during TPs and work hard to understand all terminologies.

    I failed it twice. Probably the worst experience I have ever had in my entire
    Life. Never will do it again and has put me off the educational system for life. Trainers only pass you if they like you and belittle you if you fail, it's just a sweat house out to rip you off. Complete waste of money and time. 😝

      Yeah I agree, you can be unlucky and have a really narcisistic trainer, who doesn't like you and are hyper-critical.

    Hi! I've just seen this video. I have to say that the last summer I did the CELTA course and certainly it's pretty hard but also very rewarding. I think if you fail some assignments or get some under standard practices you can also fail the course.

      That's a good point. I didn't think about failing assignments but you are right.

    I think not dressing nicely, such as wearing thongs, torn-apart jeans or too explicit outfits when turning up to the classroom can be a good way to fail the course.

      @@ELTExperiences Thanks for replying! I'm taking the online CELTA,which they allowed to be 100% online for the first time because of the Pandemic. I've been having a hard time with the assignments cause I don't have a degree,so doing the Assignments with the Academic traces have been real hard,a big challenge for me, especially for being Brazilian,so it's not my first language. I'm lucky the tutors and peers are awesome,but I'm afraid I won't make. That's why one of my colleagues sent me this video to calm me down. I'll resubmit my first assignment on Monday and it was really soothing to watch this video,again,thank you! Greetings from Brazil! 😉

      Tamira Coldibeli don’t worry. You’ll be fine. Work well and make sure you complete the tasks to the best of your ability. If you have difficulty or fail the first time, don’t worry. Receive the feedback and work on the assignments again. You’ll be fine.

    If I take TEFL instead CELTA, will it be harder for me to find job? Unfortunately I haven't gone to college yet and I'm not a native English speaker.

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference between doing a TEFL and a CELTA is accreditation. The CELTA is recognised globally and accredited by Cambridge University. It will give you access to better jobs around the world. It doesn’t matter if you native or non-native, as competency in English is required.

    I have some questions. First I have wached other videos and as I understand the trainers do not teach they simply set tasks, is this true? Second, I teach online and have no classroom experience, I will not work in a classroom in the future, will I be taught how to teach or are the other videos and CELTA books true that no teaching is given to the students taking CELTA?

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The activities that the trainers set up follow the same CELTA methodology. In a way, they practise what they preach. You learn much of what is required by participating actively during the input session. I’m not entirely sure what your second question means but from the teaching sessions that you deliver, all necessary feedback is required and this will give very much a strong foundation for teaching whether it is online or face-to-face.

      @@ELTExperiences So basically training is relevant to the task, can I ask one more question. I am 51 this year, I have been teaching for 5 years online since leaving the RAF, am I too old to do CELTA.

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulgarrett1622 you are not too old for the CELTA. I have met many CELTA graduates who decided to do the course after retiring or to change their career. Funny, I used to be in the RAF as well.

    Is it a bad idea to take this course with zero teaching experience?

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Of course not. Many have little to no experience but what is important is the willingness to learn and reflect.

    If i fail the course or the interview, would I be able to try it out again???

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abderrahim Hilali that is a very interesting question. It might be due to the reason you failed but perhaps asking for feedback if it were an interview may be useful. If it is during the course it might be more difficult to rejoin a future course.

    I hope you would reply back to me please. I failed two of my TPs. Does this mean I will not pass the course?

    • @ELTExperiences
      @ELTExperiences  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry to hear that you have failed two TPs. Did the trainers give you any advice about the teaching practices which you failed? What did they recommend that you do to incorporate for future TPs?
      I recommend to remain calm, reflect on what was recommended and attempt to address these issues in your future lessons.
      There are no number of 'not to standard' TPs but you must demonstrate that you are incorporating what is recommended within your teaching. If you don't, you will receive a written warning. As long as you react positively to feedback, you should be alright. More info here: theultimateguidetocelta.com/2019/10/25/celta-grading-not-to-standard/
