Der wirklich einzige akzeptable Film über Gatow. Gute Kamera. Verzicht auf die alte Nazu i Blase nüchtern sachlich. Ein Wunder

Wow. Surely this is a Military Aviation Enthusiast paradise. That Aircraft park on the tarmac is simply incredible. I worked on the CF-104 right up to the end before we all sent them off from Baden Solingen to the Turkish Airforce in early 1986. While there is quite nothing to compare the look of the
F-104 in it's “Clean” configuration, is was awesome to see these aircraft with their 4 fuel tanks on.

Pity the Heinkel 111 is fitted with RR Merlin engines. I'm guessing it's actually a CASA 2.111. probably took part in the Battle of Britain movie back in the 1960s.

We have a He 111 restored to perfect condition for static display at the royal Norwegian airforces collection of historical aircraft at Gardermoen . It was shot down over southern Norway during operation Weserübung in 1940. Of course with DB engines😊

Als ein großer Fan von Flugzeugen aus dem 2 Weltkrieg war ich dort vor Jahren zu Besuch. Da stand aber damals kein Focke Wulf 190 und die V1 gab's damals auch noch nicht. Sehr interessantes Video 👌

Went to the old location in Uetersen, NW of Hamburg...most aircraft were outside..the airfield had a cable launch for gliders there..and upon entry the guard said not to make any turns or you’d be shot...think it was Luftwaffe officer training base..anyway, very interesting the mix of Russian, French, American aircraft..had lots of other military equipment inside also..then upon trying to go again, I was informed it had moved to Gatow

+Andy B. The Gatow museum is working on a Fw-190D-9 that was pulled from Lake Schwerin. Other museums have an Me-262 and Bf-109.

Keith Chauncy I enjoyed this video, having visited this museum in late 2016, which was the first time I had returned to Berlin since I served in the RAF at Gatow in the control tower doing ATC in 1959/60. I was very impressed with the museum. though sorry to see half the runway had been replaced by an estate of houses, I also was given a tour inside the buildings by a young student from Potsdam University, who volunteers to work there at the weekends, He told me that it was the second largest collection of military aircraft in the world, the first being in the USA. I was also let into a large area devoted to the period that the RAF operated there after the Berlin Airlift. My only concern was so many of the aircraft were in the open, which will make accelerate their deterioration. I was advised that they would be housed inside in due course, but judging by your video, it was the same as when I visited. Most vintage cars are well cared for & preserved & more of these have survived, so it will be unfortunate if important & rare examples of aircraft, are not given the same care.

Hi, nice video. I only saw 3 planes of ww2 (Heinkel, FockeWulf and Messerschmitt Me 163). It`s correct? There is not other planes of ww2?

    • @goldfing5898
      @goldfing5898 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, I would have assumed rather a Bf 109 but a Fw 190 is even more attractive, because it is quite rare in comparison to the Bf 109. By the way the Deutsches Museum in Munich has (or at least had) Me 163 and Me 262 (currently outsourced because of construction works in the main building).

Very disappointing - I went there in March 2015 and your video looked at first as if they might have seriously nerfed it, although you DO say everything to the right of the entrance was closed on that day. So did you only get to see the one hanger (Hanger 3)? There used to be several galleries of artifacts (like one of Goering's uniforms) photos and film in the control tower building, and of course there's Hanger 7 at the SW end of the museum which had loads of cool stuff in it. I'm guessing/hoping that was just off-limits on the day you visited.
Didn't see any sign of the Breguet Atlantic (one of my favs) on the tarmac. I hope that's still there.
On the plus side the Fairey Gannet looks as if it has been cleaned up and brought inside - it was looking a little forlorn out on the tarmac - and it's good to see the Casa HE 111. That was being restored in one of the workshop hangers when i visited. The ME 163 used to be displayed on the ground. I can't make up my mind if I prefer it there or suspended.
Anyway, liked the video. Well done :)

Basically the right side of the museum was off limits due to some kind of work of the military. Of the hangars only no.3 was open.

A couple of things to note, on this particular day, everything on the right side from the entrance was closed down because the military was doing something there, so that was a bummer... The hangar clips have music playing, which was not my first idea, but it turns out the loudspeakers were playing a copyrighted song and youtube's skynet would notice that in a nanosecond... And the last thing, these are some of my first clips with the GoPro HERO 7 Black, which I like a lot, but!!! The mic is way too sensitive! It records every little change when holding the camera even when it's connected to a mini handheld tripod. In some cases you way hear some crackling, I apologize for that.

Edo, i thought it was a great video, small amount of crackling/audio did not bother me, i'm more interested in the visual anyway, & if the crackling bothers someone they can always turn down the volume, i would like to visit that museum one day, my wife is german/austrian.

How outrageus! most of planes american or russian origin... what about german origin planes (greman industry) or the nazi era (before and during nazi era) planes? just three planes of that era? why are they ashame of showing planes from that period? there were wonderful machines at that time.

The OP stated that there was a section of the museum was temporarily closed and could not access when this was filmed.
Most likely, the German WWI/WW2 aircraft & artifacts are in that section.
