@@IzzyTheNose Speak for yourself, I still liked the jokes. But it makes him feel a bit more like what he often is; a documentarian/newcaster doing comedy, not a comedian doing news.
That's because you're expecting jokes - and the lack of canned-laughter, makes it impossible to tell where the punchlines of his weak jokes are. He is flailing his arms at Trump, listing the ONE of the two countries that has responded diligently to this crisis; Singapore and South Korea. Other than these TWO countries - NO GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD has responded with due diligence. If anything - Trump has actually done a LOT more than some countries (like Sweden... which has done sweet fuck-all... and is TO THIS DAY - forcing parents to send their children to school at the threat of going to jail/loosing custody). Trump is a pile of shit.... but compared to ALL the other piles of shit... this pile of shit at least floats. John Oliver will never even recognize this... this is what makes John Oliver a partisan hate-mongerer intent to tear the country down. For example: Why does a leader say that the markets are doing fine? Because people are stupid fucking herd-animals. If you say "they will go to shit" people will sell all their holdings and thereby ENSURING IT GOES TO SHIT!!! I am 100% certain John Oliver knows this - which makes John Oliver an evil person... not just a comedian, but actually evil.
@Kelp Farming Guess what doofus, this disease spread so rapidly due to air travel from global commerce. Capitalism created this epidemic, not "open borders".
We have a militarized police force that is allowed to murder innocents without consequences, a prison system that uses non violent drug offenders for slave labor, a president that is in the pocket of a foreign government and is actively abusing the office to enrich himself and his businesses, a wage gap so large that a very small minority of people control the majority of the world’s wealth, a planet that is slowly dying from rampant unchecked pollution, and a virus that is rapidly spreading and killing people across the entire globe. I was pleasantly surprised how many times I actually laughed out loud at this segment. Sure, it's great to have a studio audience to laugh along with. It's even better to have a comedian whose jokes are funny without needing other people laughing to tell you when to laugh. Blessings, John Oliver!😄
It's moments like these that show how good John actually is at his job, because he's still able to give a good performance despite there being no reaction to his lines at all.

These Coronavirus episodes are depressingly accurate with its predictions. I'm so jealous of the alternate dimension of reality where John Oliver is the current president of the USA.
I am not perfect. I am some hypocritical dumbass. But. People, smarter than I, say you can test how accurate a model is by, well, seeing how many of it's predictions come to pass. And if the trend continues? Then Plastics, authoritarianism, biodiversity death, more intense racial violence, droughts, floods, and many other terrible predictions could come to pass, if they haven't already. The show is so surreal without the audience laughing. It makes the feeling of crisis and the seriousness of the situation feel a lot more real
I know.. it gives that morbid undertone of feeling like the audience all died. But it was still a good show. I'm glad he was able to put it together.
It also punctuates how unfunny John Oliver is without having an audience queue laughter.
It also makes the jokes land flat
@@IzzyTheNose Speak for yourself, I still liked the jokes. But it makes him feel a bit more like what he often is; a documentarian/newcaster doing comedy, not a comedian doing news.
Kevin T almost like real news. Not hyperbolically stoking the fire but reporting things as they are: surreal and very grim.
Without the laughing after each joke, it feels more like John Oliver is talking to us from the afterlife, and that’s too spooky for me.
That Kars for Kids commercial will take your life.
Especially with the white background
That’s an unsettling thought.

I kinda wish there was a laugh track. maybe someone will reupload a laugh track version
The lack of laughter from the audience is incredibly disturbing...
Makes the show more “real” tho, I guess it’s not that bad when talking about that kind of topic
It made the jokes feel like they were falling flat. You never really realize how much you use the audience's laughter to cue your own until the audience is gone.
Mac Daniel Howard lol ohh fuck you
Yes, without the laugh track ... he sounds like just another opinionated person.... However, I Still like his show.
I just added my own, where applicable. :-p
John's punchlines and comedic timing in general was great. But there is something inexplicably dark and sad about not hearing the people in the audience laugh as I chuckle too.
And the lack of the normal music
I know, it feels so weird. Like my mind automatically fills in the audience laughter.
its like hearing stand up comedy done for a silent empty room. kinda creepy
"Feels too stupid to be real....."
And then kids, there was america!
very funny.
@@amirhoseinmadadi3283 Who is kidding??
@@LaserGadgets have you ever been to the Islamic dictatorship of Iran?
I think it's ironic for you to quote something as being "to stupid" while using the wrong "too."
@@louisgreubel742 Typo. But ey, if it makes your life easier, I am super-dumb...better? Ok.
jhon oliver : *cracks jokes*
me : *laughing alone with sadness*
I feel this mood.
It's so awkward laughing without the audience laughing too ;(
Don’t worry friend, I laughed too, you’re not alone, I promise.
We're laughing with you bud. None of us are alone in this
Same here, don’t worry, even though there’s no more audience laughing, jokes are still jokes and I can still feel people around the world are laughing together lollllll
I can't believe John died and shot this straight from heaven, the hero we don't deserve!
Hope he reincarnates as Zazu... Again!
Welcome to The Good Place, John
Hes just in a different studio
My mom is British.
That social distancing joke hurt.
Not as much as my childhood, but still.
MsFair , I’m American, and that joke hit too close to home.
@@JeanieD Great answer, Jeanie XD

My mom is British
That social distance joke hurt
Still less than childhood
I made it a haiku
As a healthcare worker, i can confirm, we have been in "the sh*t".
The sound of just my own laughter in the room is disturbing.
JF Pinguen I would suggest that they have one guy on set who does a good chuckle at the right place.
Susie in the german version of this Show (Heute Show) they jokingly had the animator for clapping in the studio with the studio writers, firemen and security haha
Tbh just put a laugh track
Better than screaming hysterically.🤪
Quirky Honor Yeah, but usually the audience in the video laugh with me 😂
