      So...
      Opening schools *will* cause more viral spread.
      How much more contagion it will cause is open to question.
      We already have a huge amount of COVID-19 in the population, so starting schools up is adding an unspecified amount of "gasoline" to the "fire." O.K.?
      ...Research on this so far (from what I've picked up) *suggests* kids are less susceptible to the virus in general, and less likely to die from it.
      But...one would imagine that many children can still catch it.
      If they catch it, they almost certainly can spread it to families.

    German Schools are opened again and we do it that way: the classes are divided in three groups of 10 students each. We have 3-4 times school per week. Either in the morning or in the afternoon for four hours. The Students wear mask on the floors and keep the distance in the classroom. They stay in one room. We keep the windows opened or we work at the yard if the weather is fine. We still have part time homeschooling. If you have diseases like asthma you don’t have to go to school and the teachers are allowed to decide whether they want to go to school or stay in home office. The tables and the keyboard of the computer are getting sanitized before and after every class. PS: I’m sorry for spelling or grammar mistakes.

      @AndersHenke 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Johan Langenburg that’s been the top concern for German politicians: graduates of 2020 should do their exams, as any other way could be problematic for the graduates later. So schools started opening for graduate students first, and spread each class among two or more normal classrooms for learning, and put up fairly spread out tables in the school gym for exams.
      Along with this, schools rearranged their schedules (so not all students had their break at the same time), provided hand sanitizer and marked ways (where to walk) and distance lines on the floors. Oh, and doors were kept open (to avoid being touched), doors were either used for entrance or exit only, ...
      Students with high risk relatives were encouraged not to attend in presence, while teachers at higher risk would continue to provide online education. Meanwhile presence teachers and other school staff is eligible for free Covid19 testing. Students with mild symptoms are strictly sent home and asked to be tested.
      And when a single student or teacher is diagnosed with the virus, usually the entire class and all known contacts are asked to get tested and quarantine for at least a week (usually two). In some cases, entire schools have been closd temporarily.
      Primary schools also started opening - but due to lack of enough classrooms for adequate distancing, it’s often just a few hours per day for students.
      So “schools in Germany are open” requires much more to understand than what Trump knows or anticipates.
      And that recent German study on “students don’t seem to be that often infected or infectious” needs to be taken e with a grain of salt: in the situations described above, any other outcomes would’ve been highly problematic.

    PLEASE DO NOT OPEN SCHOOLS LIKE THIS.
    My school district literally wants 115% capacity at one school. They want my school to have 900+ students in it on any given day. We are not safe. This is not safe. It is worrying and troublesome, and unfortunately is a lose-lose situation, but we'll lose more if we go back even hybrid style.

      So true, during breaks between class, or recess for the little ones, it is going to be rough on the teachers . Their job is to teach, not baby sit the children, being the parent at school, making sure kids don't touch each others face. The bathroom, the kids will pile in, one at a time it would take forever. The buses, will be packed.
