Adventures in the Forgotten Realms as a Dungeons & Dragons accessory

Adventures in the Forgotten Realms is a Magic the Gathering set, but I'm going to look at it today as a Dungeons & Dragons accessory. From my old-school point of view, does AFR succeed in conjuring a that D&D feeling? (Spoiler: it does).
