Interesting review. Going to DM this in the near future with the Beadle & Grim Edition. As far as the backgrounds go, I don't see them being an issue with a creative and experienced DM. Just imagine yourself in your work environment; it's not like you know the quirks and secrets of everyone around you. Thank you for the review!
I'd say the two new backgrounds could work for this adventure BUT i don't think you should have more them one of each, preferably just one of them alltogether. The Witchlight Hand could be a person tasked with helping the party through the feywilds by Mr Witch and Mr Light while the Feylost could also give similar guidance just based on their experience. This player could be given a bit more information than the rest of the party in advance in order to help move the plot at a reasonable pace. A bit similar to how last time i played LMoP i had already DMed it myself a while back so i made a full support character that was driven by a vision of a potantial future involving the adventure's main villain. A large part of her role in the party was to look at what the DM was trying to do and veeeery subtily nudge the group towards that path. If we were stuck with no idea what to do he'd try to follow up on old leads the party might have forgotten. If the party was confused about some aspect of the current plot she could often in-game give a decent summary of the most important points. That sort of player could easily be played with one of these backgrounds and it's honestly pretty fun since you're able to really go all-in with the roleplay as you don't have to put as much mental effort into figuring out what to do.
i'm glad you appreciate the distinctive nature of the setting, but your opinion of the backgrounds is exactly the opposite of what they're there for. the whole point of the backgrounds is to make the setting more meaningful to you, not less.
Great overview, thank you. Was difficult to find info about this book without massive spoiler warnings popping up, so this was great.
I’m glad this review format was helpful for you.
Thanks for the review! I'm looking to run this and am getting so hyped but didn't want to get full spoilers from the other reviews so far.

I am very interested. Thanks for the review! I'd love to hear a full-spoiler review of the book!
Glad you liked it! With regard to more content on Witchlight, I will have to see how my time works out after Gen Con.

Looks very cool! Seems more roleplay heavy than other modules. Very cool.
Definitely agree that there will be more roleplay required than the average official 5E adventure.
Commenting for traction. Good stuff! Thank you for the nice insight
Glad you liked it. I appreciate the comment.
Thanks.
