actually, in Japan they had less than 1 hour 747 flights... Frankfurt to Hamburg is 411km Tokyo Haneda to Osaka Itami is 405km. The Japanese even have a specific "short range version" of 747s, starting from the early generation 747SR (Short rang) and then the 747-400D (Domestic)
Hey Swiss, I've really been enjoying your vlogs. They are different from other Videos you make, and I really enjoy watching these. Personally, i think they are more interesting. Keep up the good work:)
Short flights are also used for line training where you have to complete legs and by that train your crew at takeoffs and landings faster as you would normally on long flights. The few A380 Lufthansa is bringing back will probably fly those short flights too as well as British Airways did with their A380s.
These vlog type videos are so entertaining, I love watching Swiss take a break from his usual videos. It would be great if he did more of these, even though they can be expensive.
I have flown on the upper and lower deck when KLM flew the 747-400 and I actually preferred the lower deck. On the left hand side there is the one seat totally by itself and it doesn’t even feel like you’re on an airplane in the nose it feels like a house
Very excellent and awesome video indeed👍❤. Playing a flight simulator in a jumbo jet is quite funny, avgeek part is also my favorite and i think one of them recognized you as the Legend of Butter Landings lol or maybe they are the big fans of Swiss001, and even the cockpit visit part is also my favorite as well. FYI, Lufthansa at the moment has 8 Boeing 747-400 and actually by the end of 2025, Lufthansa will be saying goodbye to all of it's classic Queen Of The Skies and replacing it with Boeing 777X which is still yet to be certified. Boeing 747-8 ? They will continue to fly with Lufthansa for a few more years. Sadly, i never flown onboard a Boeing 747 in my life but hopefully i will in the future.
I've never seen some airline doesn't have the IFE INOP. When I was 4 years old, I used to ride China Airlines 747 fron Taipei to San Francisco in business class. And the entertainment system really wokrs never have problems with the airline.
Actually the Lufthansa product, especially first and business is pretty outdated and not that good at the moment, but luckily they are to refresh the whole cabin in all their new 350s and 787s and they also refresh the 747-8 with their new product, which is actually very good in my opinion
You can say the same for British airways. Their e jets do two hour flights between London City and Italy or Spain, while they once operated A380s between London and Paris, and that flight would be less than forty minutes in duration.
Air China flys the 747-400 on the route from Guangzhou (CAN) to Beijing (PKX) everyday as well. It's about a 2 and a half hour flight. Pretty nice to see these airlines fly these old queens!
Your comments were really fun. But, if you think Lufthansa biz class is bad; try British Air Seattle-Heathrow in biz class -- seats are like sitting/sleeping on a park bench -- whether on upper or main deck. But still love the airplane; wish it was as well pressurized as the 777-300 which is much more comfortable for a long-haul flight.
I think that if you keep doing vlogs it will become easier to afford them. People enjoy them a lot so you should be able to get more views and such. Of course you can still post msfs and xplane, just you may be more successful with the vlogs!!:)
i’ve seen british airways flying between london & madrid with their A350 & i remember seeing irl an iberia A330 approaching london (LHR) from spain (gotta b from spain)
Same wits Swiss airlines. Sometimes they fly their A330, A340 or their 777 to Pula airport (495km), but Croatian airlines do the same route with the Q400. A difference is that Swiss airlines do training touch and go's at Pula airport .
Welp, being from Canada, Air Canada operates Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-343 for CYYZ-CYUL. But this route has high demand so I understand why. Like the Lufthansa case also.
United airlines used to operate the 747 between San Francisco and Chicago. It is a three hour flight eastbound. Hawaiian airlines has occasionally operated the A330s on its inter-island flights.
why did i talk british halfway through the video?
bo'o of wat'o

At points you ended up sounding Irish instead 😂.
I love when he does the real life videos. They are definitely more interesting than the online videos.

I love Swiss Vlogs, they're always so interesting. Big props Swiss!
They always make my day
"this 747 is 23 years old, 5 years older than I am" **americans after watching swiss drink a beer**

What, someone who can pay taxes and join the army being allowed to drink alcohol??? Simply outrageous
i thought he's older, i didn't expect him to be 18🥺🫢
@@chloe8027 Same. I'd've said 23 or thereabouts.

yea JAL123 was operating this flight
I believe the 74SP was developed specifically for the japan routes.
They did, the ANA 747D which had a serious amount of seats. I was there for the retirement flight back in March 2014.
@@StratocastRS you might be thinking about the 747SR 😅. If i’m not mistaken the 747SP was developed for Pan Am.
@@StratocastRS 747SP are longer range version of 747, i think what you meant is 747SR

Glad that his vlogs seem to getting better as he seems to be getting more comfortable with filming in real life

Hello im the guy in the 6.26 minute! Thanks for the photo and share this beatiful experience! Hello from Italy!

Upper deck only once I flew, and it was nice.
I love your irl vlogs. They are definitely way more interesting than the flight simulator vids.

With all those INOP devices, this plane must have been made by Asobo. 😊
I've never seen some airline doesn't have the IFE INOP. When I was 4 years old, I used to ride China Airlines 747 fron Taipei to San Francisco in business class. And the entertainment system really wokrs never have problems with the airline.
The fact they haven’t retrofitted the plane with new seats and tech suggests they might be retiring it in the potential near future
Love this, please do more IRL videos

Love 747’s! Glad you were on one!
you should do more of this! The way u do it is interesting!
You should visit San Diego sometime... I'd LOVE to meet ya.
Bro I love how they ( Lufthansa ) literally flies an a330 further than the 747 and a340 while the a340 and 747 usually fly further lol
You can say the same for British airways. Their e jets do two hour flights between London City and Italy or Spain, while they once operated A380s between London and Paris, and that flight would be less than forty minutes in duration.

So awesome! The only thing better would be having a classic 747 with the spiral staircase as featured in so many movies when I was a kid.
this was my favourite Swiss001 video, idk why but it just is
5:50 i thought swiss was going to chug that champagne down

Hey I flew the same fog jet but the opposite way on the same date as you ! I spotted your arrival at the gate too onboard the 747 !
Legendery British Accent. As a brit myself you sounded pretty good.

Turkish airlines Flys 777-300er from istanbul to izmir under 45 minutes, maybe those are popular routes especially when it's summer season

Ahh. A classic German Beer Time!

Dublin, Ireland to Shannon, Ireland. About 30 minutes flight time, if I remember.
Ah yes my favourite airline, Lufhansa
Swiss001 Air, We fly high, wait no, we fly drunk.
Most of Pan Am's 747 fleet would be doing the exact same as what this flight did if they were still in service right now.
