En cuanto a canto y voz, Serra es la mejor, una agilidad en la coloratura marcando bien las diferentes notas, llenas, gracias al stacatto impresionante que demuestra con el movimiento facial (labios sobretodo) y movimiento diafragmáticos, buenísima. Damrau es la mejor interprete! Pues ella representa bien lo diabólica y desquiciada de la reina, que se puso frenética maquinando en su mente como usar esta "arma" con la cual lograría su cometido de hacer desaparecer a Sarastro.
Siempre he dicho que no hay mejor o peor cantante de este genero, simplemente se trata de gustos que no necesariamente son los mismos que los tuyos... para mi oido Serra y para disfrutar de actuacion Damrau
hm, Serra is great, but Poblador is also fantastic, and miklosa and gruberova have also really beautiful voices - miklosas costume is amazing! i saw Poblador live and her voice made me shiver i never felt that before it was almost creepy, but so beautiful I love her singing!

Milagros Franco needs to go back to singing school, urgent, before she ever attempts to appear again in public. And also, can somebody please save Julie Osvath from those terrorists that are torturing her? My God, she sings like if she was trying to scare children in the haunted house of the county's fair. And she failed the high note horribly.
Elena Mosuc! OMG! Brilliant technique, incredibly beautiful instrument and great acting. Humble and never over the top as opposed to some! Besides, she trills again as opposed to some!!!
I thought Serra, Miklosa, Gruberova, Damrau, Dessay, Rancatore, Mosuc, and Poblador gave awesome performances. Serra had amazing clarity, Miklosa had a beautiful voice and she and Poblador's emphasis on the high notes were great, Gruberova and Dessay had emotion and you can see it, Rancatore and Mosuc had the best high F's, and Damrau just blew away me with her acting (despite gasping for breath.) Polito did a good job with her technique and clarity, but her voice sounded kinda bland and boring IMO. Nevertheless, she did great. Melegro had a soft and agile voice but it in no way would fit for QOTN, especially her speed. Franco screamed and screamed and probably made everyone laugh watching her, and looked miserable. Osvath was so bad, and her singing probably embarrassed everyone in the production. Sorry for the long comment i needed to just let my thoughts out.
Para mí claramente Elena Mosuc porque domina los agudos con con gran maestría pero tiene potencia en las notas medias y es capaz de hacer las coloraturas muy limpias además de ser la que más transmite con los gestos. Diana Damrau también es excelente, le da otros matices más románticos a la pieza. A Rancatore no la había escuchado nunca, pero también me gusta.
I have never heard from some of these Queens before (specifically Mosuc, Rancatore, Melero, Poblador) but they aren't half bad. In fact, I was quite impressed with their skill. Still love Damrau for sustaining her High F (and now Mosuc, too. Brilliant).
Elena Mosuc is the best! The top note is so full and powerful. Most of the other sopranos are running away from that. It is a very difficult and Mosuc just gives a singing technique lesson, though I do believe that that was the last thing in her mind at that moment.
DAMRAU BY FAR!!!! Luciana Serra is a distant second. Diana's technique (and acting is unmatched), and her thick dramatic coloratura voice is perfect for this role
Serra is like a machine with her coloratura, but I think Dessay and Damrau have the best sounding high notes. Mosuc was quite good, as was Gruberova. I liked Polito's sound quite a bit but it's too bad she missed the first high note and overshot the F. But #'s 6,7, and 8... well... maybe the queen isn't the perfect role for them...
La más ágil sin duda Serra, pero la coloratura no trata solo de la agilidad, sino también de adornar la voz y para eso nadie mejor que Kristina Deutekom, que era lo suficientemente ágil y unos adornos vocales que hasta el momento no se los he escuchado a nadie más....ella fue toda una maestra de la coloratura por así decirlo. Vamos, ponganla en las listas tambien para compararla con las demás!!!
milagros franco should have had the conductor take that at a slower tempo, ovrath missed it all together and what happened to the video or audio during clara politos? I like here alot!
Everybody is so crazy about Diana Damrau because she ACTS very nicely, like that freaky crazy queen should be, but you can compare in this video how her notes get all messed up because she goes jumping up and down the stage and forgets that to sing it correctly you need to use the diaphragm, it's not a matter of yelling the notes out to see who can scream louder. That's why they stay put and straight. Too much of a diva is not going to make her a better singer. BTW, Serra pwned all others.
You are RIGHT ON! I agree completely....I think a deranged poodle could sound better than Franco. And Osvath is not only dressed like a peacock in her picture, but she sounds like a peacock that is being strangled. I know that is brutal...LoL. My point is, the ladies mentioned above really need to be singing something they can succeed at instead of attempting advanced coloratura repertoire that is out of their reach.
Who needs Florence Foster Jenkins with singers like Monserrat Melero, Milagros Franco and Julie Osvath? Why would someone of their skill (lack there of) attempt a piece that they simply did not have the technique for?
We all hear things in a different way. As a pianist, I listen to Luciana Serra and shills go up my spine! Her voice is so delicato. Brava!!!!

The reason you can hear each note in Serra's rendition is that she is aspirating. And she is doing it correctly.
My favourite keeps being Erika Miklosa though we all know she's still young. I'm not denying Serra's talent or Damrau's voice's power :o)
