My favorite guitar player hands down. You and Tom Bukovac i watch you guys on an unhealthy level lol. Im dying to hear that album you talked about Bitter Suites the outlier nocturnes!!
I took your advice about vocal lines to heart...God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, as you said, is an education in itself. I'm a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, so that's what got to me first, BUT...lol...I challenge anyone to try Hopelessly Devoted by the great lady from Australia. (Tears showed up before I could get to the second verse.) Thanks for continuing to inspire us , not only with your playing, but also with your extremely well developed sense of humor. 👊🙂
Andy Timmons has one of the best tones along with his brilliant melodic playing style. Thanks to Brett for hosting and keeping the subject matter always interesting with insightful questions and humor. Awesome!
Andy timmons tone is almost instant recognisable. Can't miss that. His playing is so melodic that it sounds like a guitar is singing instead of a vocal.
Saw Andy at a small club here in CT a few years ago. The man is truly limitless. Best live guitar playing I’ve ever seen. Vai? Nope. Satriani? Nope. Malmsteen? Nope. EJ? Nope. Bettencourt? Nope. And I worship all of them ….
I was at the NAMM show in 1995 in Anaheim and saw Andy playing a scheduled demo out on the floor. It really stayed with me, as I think that was the first time I recognized seeing a musician in person making music through his guitar as opposed to just performing or repeating something that had been practiced over and over. Bravo.
What a beautiful chat with passion, love and laugh about music. All those feelings truly reveals in that amazing tone, feel and touch whenever Andy Timmons plays a single line. Thanks Brett.
First of all thank you Brett Papa for this awesome teaching lesson that you put together and thank you Andy Timmons for his time and effort. I'm not going to get weird on y'all but this is just moving me to slow down and to get my playing on that another level. I won't say your level but I will say on higher level. It's very humbling to hear y'all play and commit to whatever it takes to enjoy and play guitar on higher levels. I Thank both of you for that. if I'm still alive, there's still room to grow and get glimpses of what y'all do
Andy's style and sound is so unique, expressive and possibly one of the best a list teachers, I have learnt so much from his finding melody with one finger, one string video lesson A huge influence
Thanks Brett, I love AT. There once was a wise man that said ‘I only know one thing, and that is that I know nothing’. I bet Andy agrees with this, being as humble as he is. And then his beautiful melancholic musical soul, I bet there were many more people crying (me being one of them) during that session on TPS. Playing that part is one of the items on my Bucket List 🤪😂 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both!
Met Andy Timmons back in 1993 0r 1994,,,at Guitar summer workshops in New Milford CT. Andy was doing the Danger Danger thing. Brett,,, thanks for having Andy on. - RJ.
You guys are two incredible musicians and guitarists! Soul, feel and swing! Every time I think about bending i automatically associated with David Gilmour… now i have this awesome video to get inspiration from you both too! Thanks for doing it! 🤟🏻🔥🎶🎸
Great video guys, Andy's playing on That was then, this is now still inspires me to work harder on my playing. Blown away by the halo pedal in every demo!
25:20 is a total Richie Kotzen kinda thing. It’s such a great way to get better & if you really apply it you’re going to get awesome. Period. Good topic Andy
Andy is such a fine Gentleman and gosh…. what an artist. Oh boy… BTW Brett, probably the longest way from the neck pu to the bridge pu, ever. Its not over yet, maybe we get there…. 😀😀
It's funny. I actually cite Yngwie for influencing my vibrato and people give me weird looks for it. But if you listen to it, he actually has a really cool vibrato. And I agree with literally everything Andy said. Ears ears ears. And do 10 times more learning by ear after that. Learning vocal melodies. Wish more guitarists would do that.
Great video, Andy seems like such a nice guy. The thing is you never see Andy and Michael McKean (lead singer for Spinal Tap) together, strange....thanks guys
Vocal lines? …& horn lines, piano lines, aka melody lines, but different instruments (voices) teach you different approaches, I found that very helpful when I finally got around to guitar lines
This guy is in a totally different league!🤘anyway when i first started not knowing much at that time i used to focus way to much on visual playing and not ear playing. It was not until years later i started playing more from the ears than the eyes. The problem i had playing visually i was just seeing in shapes and my playing sounded very one dimensional.
Can u adjust the delay volume for each preset. So if u play rythem & go to lead can u adjust the volume more louder for lead. Or is it all the same volume
Thanks Brett and Andy, really enjoyed it, got familiar with Andy on That Pedal Show and can't believe that I am recently discovering him, I have some catching up to do!
It's called the Performaxe...guy in Italy makes them...it has really improved my practice sessions by eliminating tension in my right leg th-cam.com/video/vn3kRLIOgoE/w-d-xo.html
Seems like all Delay pedals are too difficult! The first and most important setting that I want is that sweet soft Rock solo Delay! 2nd I want is to sound like the Outfield Delay! The U2! then just a straight up wet Christian Rock solo! Firefall! Pure Prairie League! Poco.
Huge Andy Timmons fan here. If anybody hasn't seen Andy's tribute to Chet Baker (played in the hotel room where Baker died) it's here: th-cam.com/video/91SCQMkJnJs/w-d-xo.html
Thanks so much for the kind words everybody...I'm honored ❤
My favorite guitar player hands down. You and Tom Bukovac i watch you guys on an unhealthy level lol. Im dying to hear that album you talked about Bitter Suites the outlier nocturnes!!
Hell yeah Andy!!! Thanks Brett Papa for another awesome video!!
Such a beautiful and sexy tone
Andy please share the wiring diagram for your guitar!
I took your advice about vocal lines to heart...God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, as you said, is an education in itself.

Hey Brett! Enjoyed our hang...looking forward to another session soon!
Any time!
the master of tone, conjurer of emotions.
Yep for sure!
Saw him in 1992 at a National Guitar Workshop. He’s the real deal. Best tone ever. He’s a national treasure. So good.
Haha for sure!
Andy timmons tone is almost instant recognisable. Can't miss that. His playing is so melodic that it sounds like a guitar is singing instead of a vocal.
Good point!

Great stuff throughout, but Andy doing "Strawberry Fields Forever" at 45:54 is worth the price of admission by itself! :)
Thanks for checking it out Tom
Great video guys, Andy's playing on That was then, this is now still inspires me to work harder on my playing. Blown away by the halo pedal in every demo!

Amazing Timmons magic
Brett is the Howard Stern interviewer of guitar. AT is simply a brilliant player, but cooler guy. No ego.
Interesting haha
Great video, as always Brett!
Thanks for tuning in!
This guy is in a totally different league!🤘anyway when i first started not knowing much at that time i used to focus way to
much on visual playing and not ear playing. It was not until years later i started playing more from the ears than the eyes.
The problem i had playing visually i was just seeing in shapes and my playing sounded very one dimensional.
Yeah that happens to a lot of us.
Great video.
I couldn't get the reference to a guitarist who sings while he plays a solo in his record. Can somebody give me a hand?
Andy Timmons from Danger Danger? He used to be my fav guitarist bk from when I was a kid!
More from Andy coming soon!
We all do haha. Andy is a beast!
Can we get Andy and Bukovac in the same room? =) Good stuff Brett!
Ah that would be something! I will see what I can do.

Papa stache how do you get all these great GUEST ??
Lots of them are my friends. The great folks at Keeley Electronics brought Andy by.
No one better at making the guitar cry and sing.
He is pretty freakin amazing!
50min flies just like that when you’re entertained,,thanks guys 😊
Thanks for checking it out!
He's the rock melody master
For sure!
❤Brett
Right back at ya!
Hello Brett, do you know how Andy setup his tremolo?
No but I’m sure he has mentioned it somewhere. He is coming back in soon so I can ask him
@@BrettPapa Thank you for fast response 🤝 Someone say he has "decked", someone says he has "float"- tremolo setup.
@@BrettPapa sooo, i asked him on instagram. He played many year decked tremolo, now it is slightly float. 😎
What do you call the cradle you use at the bottom of the guitar to keep upright
He talks about it later in the video
Andy makes it look so damn easy...
No , Its damn hard and difficult Like hell ...ufortunely
Very true!
Much respect Brett...
Sure thing Michael!
Fun wonderful great sounding funny all in one ...Beck " A Day in a Life " Where were You " I just about melted on Strawberry Fields !
Haha. Thanks for tuning in!
What is the thing raising his guitar on his leg?
He talks about it later in the video I believe.
H talks about it here th-cam.com/video/kCTVt--hKIU/w-d-xo.html
@fastguitar 30:31 he talks about it
It's called the Performaxe...guy in Italy makes them...it has really improved my practice sessions by eliminating tension in my right leg th-cam.com/video/vn3kRLIOgoE/w-d-xo.html
Jimmy Page was the reason I first picked up the guitar...... Andy Timmons is reason I keep picking up the guitar.
That's awesome!
Why is he not using his last guitar?
Between Andy and David Gilmour, I dont think theres much more finesse. Mark Knopfler also, but beautiful playin!!!
All great!
Phil Keaggy 🙋♂️!!
Yep he was amazing!
Poco.
The Halo does all of that!
💜🎶🤘
Halo pedal has a EJ TONE TO IT....COURTESY OF ANDY.
Yep!
That Halo setting definitely Eliminates the need for any reverb for me.
Totally!
I’ve convinced m myself that every home ( my home ) needs 4 guitars and a Mesa Boogie amp . Minimum .
Need more light ..dark. background Papa.
Yeah working on that. My lighting setup is really just for one but we will be dialing it in more in the future.
Huge Andy Timmons fan here. If anybody hasn't seen Andy's tribute to Chet Baker (played in the hotel room where Baker died) it's here: th-cam.com/video/91SCQMkJnJs/w-d-xo.html
Hes looking more and more like steve Morse. 😂
Haha well both are terrifying at guitar!
Someone needs to to tell Andy he needs to crank it up, c'mon man...
Haha
