The shot of the Auto Train at 3:10 was pretty cool, he was flying when I was in Folkston last spring. The best part was all the C40-8 standard cabs I saw, as well as B30-7's.
The Shack by the track is in St. George in extreme southern Charlton county. It's 22 miles south of Folkston on GA121. You know little pocket of Georgia that sticks down into Florida? That's Charlton County and St. George is in the upper right side of that.
Dang man, Next time save me some of that thar award winning pound cake! Anybody who owns a home right across from a busy railfan hotbed has me wishing I was there.
I agree. ;-) Had to come back and watch it again, Danny. Really hope I can visit Tom's ranch some time myself. definitely among your best work on TH-cam.
3:24 WOW! That Auto Train is huge. Being a Physics Instructor, you just know I had to do a quick and dirty calculation of its length. Given that track speed there is 79 MPH, and the train took 40 seconds to pass, its approximate length is 4,600 ft (0.87 mile). I wish the train came all the way down to the Miami, Fort Lauderdale area.
Hey Danny!; that train. had six. units on the. head end. my guess is 3 are going back to even up the point of origin! I enjoy all of your productions and that Wildwood turntable/ shop Will. explain. that. one day
Sounds good, let us know. Even Ebay might be a good place to try. You can keep a store there without putting items up for bid. (You just set everything at a "Buy Now" price). I'd love to see these on my big screen!
Great video as usual, Danny! The Shack By The Tracks is what it's reported to be; you won't get better BBQ. They call it "The Shaky Shack." Its only open Thurs. thru Friday (last reported). It is WELL worth the trip. Keep up the good work-- and keep that Quadcopter flying!
Damn it Danny.......YOU are THE man! I love watching your vids. Come up here on the NS P-Line with your camera, stay here at my house if you like, and shoot a video of the Central of Georgia NS Line. Your commentary, as I'm sure you know, is by far greater than anything I or anyone else can do.
another great video. keep 'em coming. I can't wait to get my hands on some dvd's, they must be amazing. p.s. I've never seen Amtrac pulling freight before
The Auto Train (52, and 53, respectively carry automobiles for the passengers). Prior to the Gunn era, for a time, Amtrak carried US Mail and Express freight in material handling cars.
Without question, there needs more lighting over the rails to illuminate the train as it passes. You have to look really quick to see things. A line of maybe 6 - 8 more lights would do. R.S.

Hey danny about my question about you in the cordele area, next time you plan a trip up here, and you need a place to crash, you can crash at my place if you want. its on the GS&F, and we can always hop in the car and drive the 10 minutes to the diamonds. just a thought -Sam
Danny, another good vid. Where can I get your Folkston DVD? (besides in Folkston)? I saw them, and then went back in July and August to get them and they were out. Love your work and narration.
You should come up to another Lake City known for CSX and NS crossing eachother, Lake City Tn. Its just off I75 in Campbell Co. Just like fl. More CSX traffic than NS.
Always something new and interesting, watched this one twice in a row! Forgive me if I'm missing the obvious, but are your DVD's listed somewhere online for purchase?

I always enjoy the narration Danny. Don't stop.
Completely relative subject matter to railfanning. Exquisite.

No, they're not available online yet as I don't have a working website. I hope to start building one soon.

Would LOVE to, Dale!
With you as my tour guide we could make some killer stuff. Maybe sometime this winter.
Great catch on the auto train. I used to catch both of them in Florence SC a lot!
Your videos are the BEST!
So far, the radio is great. I used my old quarter-wave antenna, roof mounted.
Well done yet again Danny!
Keep them coming.
5 Stars!
Great job I always enjoy your videos! Thanks!
