I like his statement {you grow from reflected glory of your people). The most touching point in my opinion is to grow your people is one of the 10 rules of success.

I love that he always emphasizes on the growth of the people. so in order to get the best result you need to connect and care about your people which is very true , but unfortunately so many companies nowadays have the growth of their people at the end of their objectives list.
What sets him apart is that he is not afraid to get technical: he is not about "inspirational speeches" (although I love them too), but he is all about ruthless down to earth practical advice and he is not afraid of being unpolitical in the way he says it.

Read "Straight From the Gut" by Mr. Welch. Acknowledge that about 10% of a large organizations employees need to be given the opportunity to seek other employment opportunities. You do them no favors by keeping them.

Currently I'm studying accounting. I had an exam yesterday, maths, it went really well. I should get around 75% I think. Accounting is quite harder, it doesn't interest me at all :(, but I have to get trough it anyway. Not saying much for that era. This is the guy that ruined GE. It's just that GE's reputation was so strong it took until after this guys time for the damage to be realized. This guy introduced planned obsolescence and is the reason GE went from one the the strongest brands in the US, the a middling nobody today.
He accomplished some good things at GE. But he also over leveraged the company via GE money which led to its subsequent downfall under Immelt, and was too eager to worship at the cult of six sigma.
IIRC this is the same guy that wrote a book called Integrity , then he dumped his wife for the woman who helped him write it. INTEGRITY OK. NEUTRON JACK.
