A fun variant to Shayne and Spencer's meta-game might be to have each person take turns guessing each game. That is, Shayne is the only guesser for one game. Spencer is the only guesser for the next game. However many guesses it takes you, that's how many points you get. The goal is to have the lowest number of points. However, there is a chance to steal. The non-guesser can, if they so choose, write down a guess and what guess number they guessed it on. They have to announce when they do this, before the guesser makes their guess, and this guess is locked in for the non guesser. If they guess correctly, and at a lower guess number than the guesser, they have their score reduced by the points they would have won. Equal guess numbers favors the guesser. For example, four scenarios. Scenario one: Shayne is guessing. He guesses correctly on guess 4, but Spencer did not lock in a guess. Shayne gets 4 points. Scenario two: Shayne guesses correctly on guess 4, but Spencer reveals what he wrote down, and guessed correctly on step 3. Spencer loses 3 points. Scenarios three: Shayne guesses correctly on guess 4, and Spencer reveals an incorrect guess on guess 3. Shayne gets four points. Scenario four: Spencer announces his guess attempt on guess 4. Shayne correctly guesses on guess 4. Spencer was also correct. Shayne gets 4 points. There could be some variants that play testing might reveal to be a better version of this. For example, if Shayne guesses correctly on guess 4, and Spencer guesses correctly on guess 3, Shayne gets 4 points and Spencer loses 3 points. Or Spencer loses 1 point, being the difference in guess number. Or each correct guess awards the appropriate amount of points, so sneaking in a correct guess early can widen a gap between players, but risks cumulative points adding up to a loss. Or there could be a punishment for guessing incorrectly by the non-guesser. So, take scenario three. Shayne gets 4 points, and Spencer gets 1 point as punishment for guessing wrong. I think this creates a fun dynamic. The guesser has two positive incentives to guess correctly both quickly on each individual guess, to beat out the non-guesser from guessing, and to guess correctly on the first few guess number, to minimize potential losses from allowing the non-guesser to guess correctly earlier than them. The non-guesser has two competing incentives. If they guess early, they can maximize their reward. But they only get one guess, so waiting until you are certain can be a better strategy. Each version of the game I presented changes the dynamics of these incentives, but I don't think they change those incentives and the mechanics of the game they represent. Anyway, that was just a thing I thought of. I hope you like it.
Not enough credit is being given to Alex who got Punch Out with pretty much only a blue screen. Man was like "I know that shade of blue from anywhere!"
Wait, hold up. Doing our dad’s jobs in video games is a great idea for a series. I’d be so down to watch, especially since my dad was a lawyer, so we all know which game I’d play, but I so wanna see Courtney the fire fighter, and Shayne the pilot
My parents are both nurses but Trauma Center: Under the Knife games are so difficult for me. Not sure if nursing games exist, but probably even as a simulator.
26:30 I was yelling "IT'S DINGIN DANGIN 2!" from as soon as the Twilight Syndrome Mystery game showed up. It's a huge moment in the game. And Damien is right, you should definitely play the games
I was screaming it too. Like, how on earth do they get mike Tyson punch out with 2 pixels but they can’t recognize danganronpa 2 when both of them are friends with Damien? XD
When I saw that black plant shadow I *knew* it was the beach house... then with Twilight Syndrome Murder Case I was doubly sure. I love SDR2, probably more than the original
I cheered so hard when Spencer eyed Phoenix Wright!! Also I know Danganronpa is long and weird, but even a one off video with Shayne and Damien would be so good!
He's a cute guy ,he reminds me of one of the guys I used to hang around with a high school & college .he was a gammer nerd and was really kind and sweet.
It's because you realize how much attention he pays to details. He is also very good at creative problem solving. These are both things most people find attractive in a partner, even if they don't know it.
Yes!! I was immediately like “that’s gotta be Lotta’s car by Gourd Lake.” 😂 I had this response for like 3 games this entire video, meanwhile Spencer’s nailing everything.
Honestly both of yalls video game knowledge is so impressive like how do you just know so many games? I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning.
For the longest time I was just a smosh clip watcher. The post Anthony era. And I just fell in love with this cast and crew. Now I’m officially watching whole ass videos lol you guys are hilarious
I love how you guys know the most niche, back alley, 50 year old, my grandpa played this on his mp3 player games first try, but somehow don't know a game like Garry's Mod. This video was really fun!
as someone who does play many video games, this was really fkcn impressive. i knew a couple of them, but a lot of those were really obscure, and they only got one wrong
Wow Spencer is a savant for game art styles. I thought I knew games until seeing this. Immensely humbling. Really awesome, and do more soon please! Bring Damien!
Love these types of guessing videos everytime, so much fun getting to guess along and even see how good you guys are at guessing. Props to spencer for being such a god at the video game knowledge
I actually played Unpacking a few years ago the night before I moved out of my parent's house and into my college dorm. I stayed up until 3 AM just playing it. It comforted me, a lot. Great game, anyone who hasn't played it should. It's a nice little organizing game, and it has a lot of great storytelling through the atmosphere.
Super fun video. Would love to see one of these again, maybe a competition between spencer Damien and shayne in the next one to see who can get it in the fewest guesses?
I am SOOO happy Spencer knew it whas Sly Cooper. Those three first games are phenomenal, and a big part of my childhood. I have yet to meet someone in person that has actually played them.
Spencer almost immediately coming out with Grabbed by the Ghoulies is it for me. That was what I was thinking of too, but for some reason expected it to be a sort of fever dream that no one but me was aware of lmao
Please let there be more of this! Be it movies, video games, or even a Where's Waldo book, seeing Spencer, Shayne, and the Smosh Crew taking time to chill like this is too good not to keep it rolling! As for a suggestion: Keep the general topic games but the episodic structures are about specific genres or even individual franchises.
Is that simulator show coming back? The ones you guys did before were very fun. The ones Tommy and Damien do as Hooey and Beef Beef are hilarious, the ones with Spencer and Shayne are great, and the one with Angela and Chanse was a ride, and the ghost hunting one Noah and Chanse was great as well.

Not a chance, Spencer is amazing. I got exactly one before you did...
(Danganronpa is worth a go, esp if you like Phoenix Wright games)
no. the answer for everyone in the comments is no. spencer has the most video game knowledge of all of us
You should try Outer Wilds in your "Lets Play" streams.
Or at least play it yourselves. its a once in a life-time gaming experience!
No. No way. Shayne did better than me by a significant margin, but Spencer was just crazy good. I am seriously impressed. Way to flex the nerd cred.
love spencer asking to make it a competition and then them immediately giving up on that and working together lol
What’s even funnier is that Spencer was the one who kinda made them give up on it because he kept giving the answer away on Shayne’s turns
The Chosen vibes 😎
right?
"WE haven't lost, yet!"
lol, k
Probably the producers' decision
Spencer justifies his role as Channel Director every day he goes on camera
I thought he was Director of Programming for Smosh Games?
@@nekomochi486 Same thing
its really nice that spencer lets shayne type. helps him feel involved in the process. spencer such a kind hearted person
lmao it's giving "dad brought his son to work" vibes
It reminds me of “Son came to work with me today because it’s summer and I’m letting him feel involved in the process”
Hey! He got Unpacking right, show my man some respect 😤😤😤😤
If Shayne does an episode of trying Flight Sim, it needs to be called "Topp Gun" or something along those lines
Yesyesyes 😂
Underrated comment
Top Gun is the program for advanced pilots. Maverick was Tom Cruise’s code name, but I get your point!
@@inspectanickk nowhere in that comment was Maverick mentioned
Topp’s Guns
Spencer's idea of the cast playing a game based on what your dad does for work is hilarious and would be fun to watch.
too bad they can't stop playing board and card games. I swear it's like they are allergic to video games lol
Not enough credit is being given to Alex who got Punch Out with pretty much only a blue screen. Man was like "I know that shade of blue from anywhere!"
I said "well that's one of any number of megaman games" but once he said MTPO it was so obvious
Shayne is a major pillar of smosh and I'm here for it. He's such a great host
Just started watching smosh again, and he is one of my favorites.
Spencer & Shayne ultimate team
@mrexeptionel9530 what a time to be back
He got schooled by Spencer tho 😂
“Doing our dads jobs in video games” actually would be so funny, shayne as a pilot, Courtney as a firefighter, etc.
2:22 i wonder if shayne's silently rejoicing at the fact that he can finally search for 'peg' on a smosh computer without getting in trouble
Lady Dimitrescu poetry.
*echoing in the distance*
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Cannot believe there wasn't a pegging joke in there between Spencer and Shayne
lmao ffs
@@qrslattery I mean Spencer did say "You would love Peggle"...

courtney actually already did a firefighting game in a video 😭
I would definitely watch that as a series!
My parents are both nurses but Trauma Center: Under the Knife games are so difficult for me. Not sure if nursing games exist, but probably even as a simulator.
Is there a game of “liquor store management”?
Idk if you're referencing a specific part of this video but I'm 3 minutes in and I love the implication that Spencer is Shayne's father
On todays episode of “Spencer gives all the answers while Shayne types them out” 😂 love these two so much
26:30
I was yelling "IT'S DINGIN DANGIN 2!" from as soon as the Twilight Syndrome Mystery game showed up. It's a huge moment in the game.
And Damien is right, you should definitely play the games
We need a full series on the channel
I was screaming it too. Like, how on earth do they get mike Tyson punch out with 2 pixels but they can’t recognize danganronpa 2 when both of them are friends with Damien? XD

@@alainaclemencesame and danganronpa 2 is definately the best danganronpa game
I really hope Amanda does a tall queen tier list at some point.

I love this idea! If she does do this she better include Gwendolyn Christie lol
Brilliant. What’s your first pick? And what should the height be above?
Kimmy should join (if she feels like being on camera again)
Awesome profile pic my friend
editor is nuts for putting the game OSTs for most of these
Props to the editor for adding in the music from the games, especially Unpacking, love that game and the music fits so well.
I cheered so hard when Spencer eyed Phoenix Wright!!
Also I know Danganronpa is long and weird, but even a one off video with Shayne and Damien would be so good!
Love Danganronpa
yessss
shayne at the start of the video: "we're so good at video games, especially at guessing them."
shayne almost 2 minutes in: "we've lost all hope-"
Shayne needs to try and guess people based purely off of the contents of their fridge
yes!!
There’s a Reddit thread for this too so they could do it that style with employees
they did this!
This video makes Spencer's brain odly incredibly attractive
Yes absolutely
He's a cute guy ,he reminds me of one of the guys I used to hang around with a high school & college .he was a gammer nerd and was really kind and sweet.
Spencer is underrated
No, I get it
It's because you realize how much attention he pays to details. He is also very good at creative problem solving. These are both things most people find attractive in a partner, even if they don't know it.
Spencer really deserves to have this job. My god.
Also i love a video where Shayne and Spencer just hangs out. Another banger.
My favorite thing about this channel is that I know NOTHING about video games, but I always have a great time
spencer had some CRAZY pulls here
I'd love to see Shayne and Spencer playing some co-op games like "bread and Fred". It's a really fun co-op game to destroy friendships
I got the Ace attorney one IMMEDIATELY because I recognize all the background art, it's pretty recognizable 😅
Yes!! I was immediately like “that’s gotta be Lotta’s car by Gourd Lake.” 😂 I had this response for like 3 games this entire video, meanwhile Spencer’s nailing everything.
Except the curveball that it only came out on GBA in Japan...that threw me off. It was on DS in the States first if memory serves.
As did I! It's always been my favorite franchise, so I was THRILLED to see it make an appearance!
@tbjorns1 I said pretty much the same thing aloud lol.
Honestly both of yalls video game knowledge is so impressive like how do you just know so many games? I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning.
Amazing work by the editor changing the background music to match each game! So much extra work but added so much to my viewing experience.
I would watch a 4 hour stream of this.
For the longest time I was just a smosh clip watcher. The post Anthony era. And I just fell in love with this cast and crew. Now I’m officially watching whole ass videos lol you guys are hilarious

I love how it went to competitive to team work to Spencer just listing it out. I love this lol.
This makes me so happy to see Spencer in his ZONE.
Appreciation for the editor for syncing the games with their scores.
Props to the editor Andre. All of the game music playing in the background matches the games shown on screen. Love it c:
If it was ever questioned before, Spencer proved here his knowledge of games is next level
the more videos i watch the more i become stans of each of the new cast! officially a spencer stan he’s so funny and his vast knowledge is so wild
Hearing that Damien is obsessed with Danganronpa is such an obvious lore drop, a little ashamed I didn't see it sooner
Wow Spencer is a savant for game art styles. I thought I knew games until seeing this. Immensely humbling. Really awesome, and do more soon please! Bring Damien!
The original Black and White was SO GOOD (except for the gesture mechanic). It's almost impossible to find, but if you can it is so worth it.
I'm a simple girl. I see a Spencer/Shayne duo video, i click.
I love that Shane loves Unpacking. It's one of my favorite games and if I'm stressed, I replay it to relax.
They are Legitimately super good at this
This was great. The cooperation was heartwarming. Recognized Dragon Age immediately. Played that game so much.
2 minutes in and this is already so lovingly chaotic

I had to pause the video because I love so much how Shayne got Spiritfarer, I recognised it immediately and it's a WONDERFUL game
The synchronized realization at 13:44 is just so satisfying.
The way they said Perfect Dark so in sync just shows how close these bros are.
truly i am out of my depths here, but i’m happy to spend a few minutes with the boys 😌
Really love how they put bgms from the respective games for each round!

I was gonna be upset if that was the one they failed on, i knew it from the first picture
Same!! The original trilogy is so close to my heart and Band of Thieves is the best of them all.
Dude, I loved watching my older sisters play the games! The Sly Cooper franchise was the first game that got me to really enjoy video games!
As a massive Sly Cooper fan, watching them stumble on Sly 2 stung my soul.
ANOTHER BANGER FROM SHAYNE TOPP OF ICARLY!!!
Shayne: "Let's exchange turns"
Also Shayne when Ultrakill: "Skip skip skip skip skip"
spencer's impression of the gmod gun is actually the most impressive thing here
27:15 "so its in new york something blows up" good one spencer
We need a round 2! This was so fun ❤
I'm here for Spencer's 'it's giving' era
Then Shayne says "it's giving" and it doesn't sound right coming from him. 25:53
Please have Shayne and Amanda as flight attendants play Flight Simulator! Maybe Aunt Carolyn's first job? 😄
MORE OF THESE PLEASE! So much fun to guess with the guys!!
Please do another one of these with shayne and spencer again!! This was a great video!!

Omg 8:00 I screamed so hard for Ace Attorney 😭😭😭
Shayne getting spiritfarer on the first guess made me very happy, such an incredible game
Agreed it had me in tears I beat it before the new updates on Xbox now I own it on my switch
Holy shit. Spencer was nailing that shit
I've never played video games in my life, but Shayne and Spencer are so entertaining that I still love these kind of videos!
This was actually a fun watch. Id be down to see another
The syncronized "perfect dark" was great
This was really fun to watch, Spencer was crazy good at it
I love how the point system became entirely irrelevant five minutes in
I love seeing Shane and Spencer duo up for a vid, I just feel like this would have been the perfect episode for The Chosen to make an appearance.
Spencer's mind palace is crazy
shayne never playing *PEG*gle is such a plot twist
Is that simulator show coming back? The ones you guys did before were very fun. The ones Tommy and Damien do as Hooey and Beef Beef are hilarious, the ones with Spencer and Shayne are great, and the one with Angela and Chanse was a ride, and the ghost hunting one Noah and Chanse was great as well.
0:46 so glad my childhood got a shoutout. I don’t remember anything other than the title and the fun I had. The rest is a blur.
Oh my GOD, Peggle! This is the hardest flashback to ever hit me. Holy cow, I was OBSESSED with this game back in the day.
The game music in the background for each game is such a nice touch.
lol i guessed the Sly 2 game instantly, cant believe it included my favorite series, those games get overlooked so much these days
I went through these with my boyfriend after seeing this video go up! We had so much fun! I would love to see you guys do more!!
Chronophoto is a good one, in which you try to place a photograph from the last century to the year it was taken. Given Smosh's nebulous understanding of history, it could be quite funny.
Spencer set the standards for this game way too high. Giga genius activated
Edit: we need Shayne on the flight simulator sticks while his flight attendant/co star just try to get him to crash (no touching or blocking the screen)
Just 36:33 minutes of Spencer establishing his gaming dominance around Smosh.
I prefer it when they work together. I love this series and I'm apparently watching it out of order 🤣
I would literally watch them play this guessing game for hours
I swear shayne is the protagonist of smash these days. He’s in like 90% of smosh videos now
Shayne you definitely need to play Dragon Age. Such good story! You can affect the world of the subsequent games with your choices.
this ep made me* so happy; spencer and shane are such a fun combo
Spencer is a god at this game
That ace attorney round hurt my soul. I knew it from the first photo
