After seeing the pictures of the original car, my heart sank when I saw the shape it was in when they picked it up 😢Still, I’m happy they were able to take it back home 🖤🙂👍
I don’t know how this clip popped up on my feed, but I am so glad that it did. I can relate whole heartedly to your search. My dad owned a 1976 Ford Gran Torino. No it wasn’t a S&H model but it was very special to my dad. It was also his first car and it was also co signed for by my G-Pa. When my mom found out that my sister was coming, my dad traded his prized Torino for a Ford station Wagon. I searched high and low for that Torino until I finally found it. Still on the road and registered to the SAME owner who found it on that used lot back in 1982. He assures me that when he’s ready, I will be the first in line to buy it. 🙏🏻
Nice My father passed 4 years ago. I dug out his 1967 malibu that he bought in 1973. Myself being born in 1974 never seen the car move, rode our heard it run. Know me and my kids enjoy it. ( few videos on here ) Thank you for sharing and would love to hear more story's! Got my subscription
Brayden. I am 62 years old and I got my first car when I turned 16 in 1978. It was a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. This video stirred up a lot of emotions for me as well. I salute you sir for doing this labor of love for your grandfather and dad. Sure wish I still had mine so I could pass it to my son and grandson. Please posting any restoration videos. Best wishes to you.
Awesome, I bought one of my dream cars a few months back a 2013 boss 302 and my thoughts were it’s going to be crazy cool to someday have it and give it to my kids
Huge project there . Better find some service manuals looks like your going to be spending a ton of hours to get it back right . Good luck it has history with your family so I get it.
This is awesome and sad at the same time. I'm experiencing a range of emotions watching this. If it were me, the car was in this state, and I recovered it, it would probably be turned into a drag car. But I love originality too so then again might consider returning it to its former glory as it was.
I sure would like to have my first car, 1968 mustang, stock 302, 3 speed on the floor, fastback. Sold it in 1974 while I was in the navy for 600 bucks. It’s probably long gone. What Mother Earth didn’t take in the form of rust it was probably melted and became rust from something else.
Sure hits home, i'd give anything to get my 70 Challenger back, bought it when i was 18, sold it as a young father doing the right thing i guess. Good luck with the restoration, i'll follow along, looking forward to seeing it come together for you. Too bad i wasn't closer, i have a stash of 70-74 Barracuda/Challenger bits and pieces lol. Cheers!!!
Amen! Dad needs to start a channel starting with the black knight. I wish I could buy one of my cars back. I bought a 87 Z28 while my husband was gone over the road. Drove it a while as it was then I blew the motor. Replaced the motor with a LS1, had it painted with all new chrome.. Then my wish came true and I put a 6 speed in her. Hubby didn't like that I bought it or the changes so to have a quiet home I gave it away for $3,000.00.. 6 years later divorced to have peace in my own life. I cried when I watched her drive away..
You saved it. 90% of the time the guy takes the whole car apart, then realizes they have no money or know-how to put it back together and it gets sold off in pieces or just scrapped.
What makes you think it’s going to be finished this time? Life has a way of getting in the way, even if your shop specializes in doing it for others. You still have to pay for parts and employees while you’re taking time away from customers cars. Ask me how I know…
@@bondpit8750 It may not be, you are right. I remember Hot Rod magazine saying it was the 4th owner that actually finished the project after the first started it. Not sure how they came up with that, but I believe it.
I wanna hear the story. Why your Dad sold and for how much, what year and the circumstances. How and when you got on the hunt, or did you know all along where the car was, kept tabs on it. Did you, the seller or word on the street make this possible? Also what you paid, and what you got, did he hold you up at all? Most important, can you see the residual "Black Knight" on the quarters? Can't wait to see which direction you take the car. Should be fun for all of us to watch, and much emotion for you.
Having worked for dad at his restoration shop for many yrs. $10- $12k and you will have a great daily driver, glad it's back in the family 👍... I didn't see you load the 318🤔🤷 Although I'd probably drop a Hemi in it 👍
The original engine and transmission are long gone. It was a 318 car with a 904 transmission. We will upgrade that part to a big block 440 and 727. We have several at the shop.
I was wondering near the end of the video, where is the engine? Did they just not show them loading it, or is it blown up or junk? I was kinda anticipating seeing the engine being loaded hoping all the numbers would nearly match that way. I wish you the best on the rebuild and can't wait to see how it all goes.
First ever seeing your channel. I'm only 45 minutes away from where you got the car. I know a guy with a black on black 73 or 74 cant quite remember which that he bought brand new and still has it

My dad’s first car was a 1913 Buick… he got in 1918. Mine was a ‘55 Chevy 210… got it in ‘58. My son’s was a ‘78 Lemans that he got in ‘85.

A shame they let that car get that bad
dont make it perfect.....just make it go....and drive it.....then phase in improvement.
wish I could find my 1st! 71 Demon
Imagine the things your mom did to your dad in the back seat of that car.
hell yeah 😊
Time for a dip 👍
It's a shame people can't take care a car any better than this. This kinda person should stick to owning Hondas
At least he had the good sense to roll it inside before he started pulling parts off it. 😂

Nice,,,,,,
Yep, that's what I guessed!
Crate 340 would be better than 318
340 for LYFE
A stout 318 would be cooler. They can be made to run decent and it’s original to the car, not to mention the same power plant his Dad drove it with.
Hope you have about $100,000 laying around

Nice car but I have to give you a F on the tie down job.
What is that a 69 or 70 cougar
It's a Dodge charger. 70 I think.
