When I was 17 my Brother worked a large Dodge dealership in Albany, N.Y. I remember going there and drooling over a 4x4 Warlock! They had Lil Red Expresses and Top hands too! They also had brand new Custom Vans that were outsourced customs with the Porthole windows, custom interior and graphic paint jobs. I ended up getting a 77' Orange Macho 4x4 with a 440 V8 that would beat 350 Camaros and Novas! THAT was one hell of a Fun truck. Wish i still had it!

Oh, wow! Back c. 1978 I was walking down the street in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn one night, and saw this cool yellow 4x4 Dodge stepside. I thought it was so cool at the time (I was 16)...never saw another one like it, in real life or elsewhere. Then I see the thumbnail of this video! So nearly 50 years later, I now know what it was (Thought it was just a Dodge PU that the owner had customized). 4x4's were rare at that time- 'specially in NYC..Who'd have thunk I'd see such a rare vehicle?

5:14 - The tent thing might have been a 70s fad. Chevrolet had a similar-looking tent accessory for the Nova in the 1973 or 1974. (And, like many fashions, it was destined to come around again -- the Pontiac Aztek famously offered a similar tent.)

For the Grand Cherokee the 5.2 (318) was the better more reliable option those 318's are bullet proof..
My sister had a 1994 Cherokee 4.0 and it needed a head gasket and other work while my parents Grand Cherokee 5.2 needed no work, they both kept them 10 - 12 years and over 240,000 miles.. The 5.2 ran perfect and smooth the 4.0 had a miss .. My parents were not easy on them either, my Dad loved to floor it a lot. My dad towed is 1967 Coronet Drag car with the Grand Cherokee.. Wild graphics were the thing back then for American manufacturers, then came celebrity and company endorsements as "Special Editions". Most of them offered nothing but appearances you couldn't get as a RPO. Dodge trucks were some of the wildest looking ones with AMC being right there with them. The 'van craze' got us some more and even the Pinto and Gremlin got into the game. It all started with the 'performance stripes' on muscle cars back in the 60's and continues (thankfully more subdued) with muscle cars today. Certain ones are rare and valuable to collectors, but they weren't seen that way back then so there aren't many original survivors now.

Omg Avenger. I had to work on a few of these. The worst was the rt. Engine would stall and refuse to start again until IT felt like it. Could be 5 minutes could be 5 days. Every single avenue to fix that was taken short of replacing the ECU which is what I recommended from the start. Worth mentioning is the fact that to change rear pads you HAD to remove brake line from caliper. It was almost touching the caliper bolt directly behind it. And the starter. Chrysler decided to wrap the starter in an octopus like mount that made itbso you couldn't even see the starter inside it. What a nightmare. I quadruple the repair guide estimates now to avoid having to fix them. 3.6l is just too much engine for that body. It also has the battery in the fender genuis

My family was big into Dodge when I was growing up.. out of the many they had, my Grandpa had a neat truck. It was either a 76 or 78 Dodge power wagon.. it had this wild factory paint job. It was a metal flake green, with a black hood and yellow lines, yellow wheels. At that same time my uncle had a RAM Charger of about the same year model, was black and white.. and my Dad had a red and white custom 100 also same year.. I can’t recall exact for each but they were all between 76-78.. they are still around, just need restoring.. except for the RAM Charger.. Hurricane Hugo dropped a tree across it.. also dropped a tree on an old Mercury Cyclone we had.. was a sad day :(

Great video! I never knew the context of the Orvis package; therefore, I appreciate knowing that now. The final generation Sebring was a disaster. The styling inside and outside was wrong, the platform was wrong, the world engine was uncompetitive, the 2.7 needed to be dropped altogether, and the 3.5 needed an update.

I really like, and miss those graphics packages. Another cool Plymouth arrow was the Fire Arrow. You could get the bigger 2.6L engine which was quite a bump over the smaller engines.
I had a 78 arrow GS. Why oh why cant we have unique, stylish, colorful vehicles like these today?

So there we were doing 5500 rpm in top gear for about 15mins ,and up ahead we spot this white little blip.
We got xlose enough to see it was a fire arrow, but never reeled him in as we had an exit we were geteing off at.
He hadda be doing 120+, we were shocked.

Sorry for your loss, man 🙏
I also surprised that you drove an Audi TDi since your videos aren't featured many Audis, but Americans!
So, if you are into diesel, how about getting one of those old GMs like Olds or Caddy with diesel V8s?
    (Just kidding)😂
I know US never got diesel Jags, but my parents used to own one('13 XF with 2.2 diesel), with all the power and luxury but still retains a great fuel economy... unfortunately they've gotten rid off it since problems were started to happen.
Later, they got a CX-5 with 2.0 Skyactiv gas engine, which is also a great car although I hate SUVs, drives and feels fine.

Whose Dodge pickup is that at the end, showing POV driving? It's nearly identical to my grandfather's magnificent minty fresh garage kept 1990 D350 LE that was totaled around 2013... I'd give anything for that truck back... Metallic gray paint with tasteful gray pinstripes, longbed single-cab with dually wheels and towing package, thick chrome tubular grill guard, chromed diamond plate running boards, rear bumper and toolbox, and the exact interior as shown-- Even down to the chrome visors on the outside of the doors. Only his wasn't a 4WD and didn't have that strange grill on the top of the passenger side dash. (what is it for?) Seeing that POV was surreal for me as I drove that truck all throughout high school and a bit later, it was essentially mine when a friend of his wanted to drive it and was t-boned hard on the passenger side by an Expedition with a grill guard.... It was folded pretty badly...

@@GreenHawkDrive I guess it is an 11 year old car at this point. Still, insurance these days will write off a car for a bent door and some rear fender flare damage. That happened to a neighbour - I told them to fight it and what to say, and they did, and they got to keep the car. I'm waiting on the spring for them to come by and I'll replace their door for them... And do some bondo work to the rear arch, literally I won't even need to use fibreglass, the damage is so light.

As longtime Chrysler Tech I would have to say that the 318/360 (5.2/5.9) were probably even more bulletproof than the 4.0l.... we aren't talking about chevy or ford small blocks here. The 4.0l was a bad oil leaker, constant exhaust manifold problems, broken pistons. Bad blow-by and internally noisy with higher mileage. That is the short list.
