  • (Re)Starting My BrickLink Store - An Overview
    5 years ago I decided to open a BrickLink store in my free time, with only a couple thousand parts just for some extra LEGO fun. After a year of doing that, I sold off my store and called it quits. Realizing I loved the fulfillment of picking orders and building a satisfied customer base, I decided to start again in 2017. My next store ran for about a year and a half into 2019, until life became too busy, and my store grew too much for the space I had allotted for it, so I took another break. Flash forward to December of 2019. I had more free time, a larger place to be able to store inventory, and even potential business partners, so decided I would start my store again, but this time it would be different... Instead of only having upwards of 10,000 parts, I wanted to grow to over 1 Million. This is the beginning of that journey.

    TH-cam recommended your video to me. I really like your setup. I dream of having my collection organized like this. Not to sell, just for building MOCs. I hope you continue documenting your experience with BrickLink. I think it will be interesting to follow.

      Yes it recommended for me too. You are doing it right! I love these type of videos! I did same thing. I tried bricklink and parting out sets and than I sold everything as I was not well organized. And than build I built a huge LEGO Wall like yours in Dec 2018. Now sales hit over $3000 month in January and my regular job is currently on the chopping block!!!

      Thanks! How has your store been doing? Are you still expanding or have you kind of hit your limit due to space? We can probably get to about 130-140k parts until we run in to a space issue, so we're discussing possible ways to expand.

    • @bricksforbrains2140
      @bricksforbrains2140 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hit about 75k parts and was kind of stuck for space in my home office. Around November I moved the store to the basement and continued to expand. I’m probably about 80% full now. Just parting out the backlog as fast as I can. Hoping to get to about 250k parts and 5000 lots or so. I think that’s about all I can handle by myself on a part time basis. Going well though and having fun with it.

    Brickitect recommended you after TH-cam recommended you to him. I really enjoyed the 1st video. I'm in the process of opening my BL store and videos like yours as well as Jaabo/Brick Tsar, Jason/Trick or Brick and Derek/Pops Block Shop have guided me along the way. I really hope to open soon but life and a really messy basement keep getting in the way. I'll be sure to check out more videos as well as your store. Have a great day & Keep 'em Coming!

      @@TheEdwin073 I have been looking around and I think the most cost effective solution is to buy printed labels from AliExpress unless starting from day one and you can print and label as you go, just make sure you start at 00001. Right now for my store it is looking like a $400 investment, that's nzd, I think it is worth while for us.

      Hello PRIMITEMAS,
      We have spent just about $1,280 in drawers so far. With that being said, about $250 of that are empty at the moment, and have no parts in them. So roughly $1000 to hold about 120,000 parts.

    • @rahul669

    • @JustABrickInTheBucket
      @JustABrickInTheBucket  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The business is "profitable". I say quotations because we choose to spend our profit on expansion. If we decided to maintain our current size rather than expand at the very fast pace we are expanding at now we would be generating profit.

      Being that we've only been in the location we are in now for about 2 months, we have not had any problems with dust, but I will elaborate more on the next episode of BrickSide Chat about our cleaning routines.

      Nicolas Châteauneuf It’s honestly really hard to figure out due to the fact that about half the stock that we parted out last month, I had already had just sitting waiting for a couple years. I might do a little video on how we manage our money and everything which can help to give more insight as to how much it would have cost to do it all from scratch.

      Stephen Bond We do not have a color chart at the moment, but there is a chance we will make one in the future. We just compare pieces to ones in our inventory at the moment, and when parting out sets, BrickLink already knows the color.
