Thank you, Novara, for giving the Greens a platform. We deserve to hear from all serious parties running for office. For this election, I am really hoping we get more Green MPs. Four would be great but even doubling the number of Green MPs would be a really important step forwards. Zack is a great Green voice and I look forward to people hearing more from Sian Berry in the likely event of her being elected into Caroline Lucas's former seat of Brighton Pavillion.

It's to do with the privateised gloabl energy markets, hence expanding North Sea exploration will not create security or bring down bills, it's a trick..... Localise and nationalise energy companies... not sell it all off to unacountable profit led mainly foriegn comanies?

  • @philoktoday

Also - it is not just first past the post that features in our voting system - as unlike parliament where the ruling party HAS to have a majority - in local elections(for MP's) - THEY do not have to have an overal majority? So whilst - for example, if a said party has 10,000 votes and the next has 8,000 - then the next has 3,000 and the next 2,000 with 'Others' garnering 1,500 - this total apposing figure totals 14,500. Clearly the winner is in a MINORITY - totally unlike Parliament. How is it that if most people in your constituency have voted against the 'Winner' - and effectively have the majority vote - they end up having no representaion and no voice. Hardly a democracy - 'First past the Post' wrongly describes our political system - i would call it "Distorted Voting System'.

The issue for Labour and PR is the internal machine is run on favour trading and in that eco system the biggest favour to trade is a safe Labour seat. So behind closed doors most NEC members are never going to give that kingmaker perk. It's the same reason there was so much push back against automatic deselections. PR removes the ability to dish out safe seats because there are no safe seats. Parties get their fair share of representatives. No jobs for life.

Always wonderful to hear a Green be given the chance to speak at length. It's great to see a Green challenged articulately and meaningfully, i follow Ash on twitter but never watched her hold an interview (i don't know if that's the correct terminology or not) and i enjoyed her intelligent questioning and her humour too. I was really pleased to see Zack's responses to some of those criticisms, things like NIMBY-ism and being anti-nuclear because they are often levied against the Greens and i've never seen an in-depth counter for them, until now! A breath of fresh air to have a political interview that was conducted calmly, honestly, intelligently, and in good will of one another.

So great to see a politician with the ability to speak openly from a place of understanding and integrity. This was an engaging conversation. Starmer, Sunak, so many career politicians would be incapable of having any sort of conversation. They're only able to repeat prepared lines and meaningless platitudes.
