What an artist!! Listen..,his guitar is an alarm bell for 2023! I’ve loved his music and guitar since the 1980s.
I saw him perform in a little basement club in Toronto in 1999, maybe 40 people in the audience. I've never seen a performer like him before or since. He didn't need a band. He WAS the band. We were lucky to have him. RIP Brother
Truly one of the best songs ever written and Richie Havens does a wonderful cover of this Quicksilver song. Always reminds me of my husband , brings tears to my eyes because he passed away almost nine years ago
Goosebumps, a tear in my eye, and a lump in my throat every time I watch this. This man had passion. He stole the show at Woodstock and made me want to pick up a guitar and play my soul thru it.
He Is Working That Guitar Bruh & 4 A Slow Song @ That!
He Shouda Just Slammed The Guitar On The Ground!!!
Had the privilege to see him live here in the UK. Will never forget what incredibe performances he gave, Goosebumps. What a wonderful person.
RIP Richie. A great musician and an even nicer man.
The quintessential Richie. Alone up there. The eternal troubadour. Incredible voice and strumming. One of my heroes!!!
Richie is with me always. My Spirit guide, his style of guitar and his passion flows with me!
Love this man. Gave him a hug and told him that once. Great moment for me I like to brag about. I asked him "What happened to the hippies" He said' they got jobs and had children and are carrying it on in other ways...' Richie has the uncompromising message . Most hippies sold out.
it doesn't get much better; true legend R.I.P Richie
i love richie and the message he carries to the world.we are told as kids to talk but never trained to LISTEN
Such amazing passion and performance, always, I can't get enough of Richie Havens.

Dino Valenti of the Quicksilver Messenger Service wrote this song!
thank you for mentioning the forever loved & missed Dino Valenti, perhaps drive some astute YT bers to Quicksilver Messenger Service for sublime musical experiences ((-;
I wish I could do that.
Audience of the dead. Respect to Richie Havens
it is written by dino valenti and first released by quicksilver messenger service - and the original version is pretty cool - and the lyrics are still pretty actual today - don't know too many songs that do that up to now - anyway - richie first recorded a pretty version for his album the great blind degree - for me his best - but every version of this song i know is simply brilliant - by the way jesse otis farrow was an alias for dino valenti caused of legal reasons ...
what's interesting is, he always plays this speedy nervous guitar accompanied with slow lyrics and voice ..
This is a song about the system today...
love to know where this was recorded.
What I wonder is how the 3 "dislike" people got here.
Richie Havens should not come up when searching for "most recent crapfest music."
try Jesse Farrow,songwriter
...from the album of the same name,QSMS/quicksilver messenger service
Havens does a great job as usual -
the song however is not of his creation.
It helped.a little bit If you want to aee shit and politics mixed, welcome to 2017 ! Peace !
