Obligatory "This is in Empire Records" comment. But seriously, this song hits different, it's been on my regular Playlist rotation for a good 3 years now
Fuckin love this song. Best in the pack. Not a bad re-record either, it was definitely either masters issues or (more likely) Sponge moving to an indie label and it being cheaper to license a re-record. Everclear did that a bit, re-recording some of their big hits for indie labels later in their career. The band usually gets a better cut of royalties that way thanks to more favorable contract conditions than they would get from Interscope or whoever Sponge was with when they had the hit.
THIS. This is the song I was talking about! I heard this one time on 98 Rock Radio and I INSTANTLY fell in love with it. Sure enough I found "Rotting Piñata" at a thrift store a few weeks later and it quickly became one of my favorite albums from the 90's! Anyone who likes this song, check out "Neenah Menasha" and "Drownin'," you won't regret it!
I actually have an idea for a 90s-themed Guitar Hero game for if the series hadn't ended. But instead of "Guitar Hero Encore Rocks the 90s", I call it "Guitar Hero: Memories from the 90s" Song List: “Green Machine” by Kyuss, 1992 “Come as You Are” by Nirvana, 1991 “Rooster” by Alice in Chains, 1992 “Alive” by Pearl Jam, 1991 “Hunger Strike” by Temple of the Dog, 1991 “In the Meantime” by Helmet, 1992 “More Human Than Human” by White Zombie, 1995 “Bull in the Heather” by Sonic Youth, 1994 “Wait and Bleed” by Slipknot, 1999 “Hammer-Smashed Face” by Cannibal Corpse, 1993 “Feed My Frankenstein” by Alice Cooper, 1991 “Shine” by Collective Soul, 1993 “Far Behind” by Candlebox, 1993 “Everything Zen” by Bush, 1994 “Lightning Crashes” by Live, 1994 “Broken Man” by Corrosion of Conformity, 1994 “Walk” by Pantera, 1992 “Jesus Built My Hotrod” by Ministry, 1991 “Ready to Go” by Republica, 1996 “Testify” by Rage Against the Machine, 1999 “My Hero” by Foo Fighters, 1997 “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” by Primus, 1995 “Bawitdaba” by Kid Rock, 1998 “Higher” by Creed, 1999 “Touch of Evil” by Judas Priest, 1990 “Vasoline” by Stone Temple Pilots, 1994 “Peaches” by The Presidents of the United States of America, 1995 “Loser” by Beck, 1993 “Whatever” by Godsmack, 1998 “Seether” by Veruca Salt, 1994 “Californication” by Red Hot Chili Peppers, 1999 “Black Gold” by Soul Asylum, 1992 “Slide” by Goo Goo Dolls, 1998 “She’s So High” by Tal Bachman, 1999 “Better Days (And the Bottom Drops Out)” by Citizen King, 1999 “Dragula” by Rob Zombie, 1998 “Fly” by Sugar Ray, 1997 “Jesus Christ Pose” by Soundgarden, 1991 “Dreams” by The Cranberries, 1992 “Tornado of Souls” by Megadeth, 1990 “November Rain” by Guns N’ Roses, 1991 “Follow You Down” by Gin Blossoms, 1996 “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes, 1992 “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies, 1998 “All I Want” by Toad the Wet Sprocket, 1991 “Everything About You” by Ugly Kid Joe, 1991 “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors, 1991 “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette, 1995 “Summer Song” by Joe Satriani, 1992 “Stone the Crow” by Down, 1995 “Dust Devil” by Butthole Surfers, 1993 “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger, 1997 "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring, 1998 Guest Appearances: Rob Zombie Dave Grohl Flea New Features: - An Expert+ difficulty setting for guitar, which requires a special guitar controller with two rows of the usual 5 colored buttons and a bridge button that the player must hold down with their wrist to play palm-muted notes - Visual design that really dives into 90s nostalgia, including song animations reminiscent of 90s music videos
This song was in the movie Chasing Mavericks. I was watching it and this song came up and it actually works really well in the movie. Movie didn't really work well imo lol
One of my all time favourite songs. But not this recording tho. Nonetheless I’m still shocked this song and any Pavement song have yet to reach RB4, since they love giving us obscure 90s stuff
One of my favs 👍
I always thought this was Social Distortion, so I also didn't knew who Sponge was until this pack came out.
This song kind of sounds like Social Distortion with Scott Weiland singing.
Definitely another “oh THIS song” moment
shit spongebob goes hard, also already halfway thru WoR dlc

Sponge was with WORK, a division/subsidiary of Sony Music at the time of this song.

Day 351 with the drive way always being “Plowed” over by snow
hey it's one of those songs that you have to look up the name cause the song doesn't mention it. I have too many to count that I hear at work
