No, most people would understand its satire, and he's playing a character to bring out how shitty these people are. It's not like he didn't just make a new tv show based off stereo types this year...
The character of Borat exists to show the way westerners view foreigners. He's like a conduit. Those people are delighted because he's validating their stereotypes.
Dude is a genius with silence. May sound crazy but silence can be a verbal weapon. He did a mild pause after saying "stand up" and all it took is for just one person to fall for it, and everyone else in the room will follow it too. Amazing exploit. When people in their heads believe every moment has to be filled with something, anything, and when silence happens, their brain tries to fill that silence with something. So eventually someone stands up. Its crazy. But also scary. All of us are probably vulnerable to a lot of these "mind control" techniques.
@@LeoDragon34 Uhhhhh.... no, no it's not. It's satire, and it sheds light on unfortunate truths about social constructs and certain aspects of human nature / daily life. It has very little to do with "not being able to troll due to my crippling social anxiety." The only thing that makes me cringe in this video is how stupid the children leaving comments are becoming... at a very alarming rate I might add.
Mavis Beacon - woah, steady. I think you’ve seen 2+2 in my post and arrived at 11,358. When I said “that’s the whole point”, I was talking about how the whole idea of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters, whether as Borat, Ali G or any of his other characters, is to make you cringe - to challenge social, racial, sexual and cultural stereotyping. And I absolutely stand by that. Yes, of course it’s satire, in its most extreme form, and a lot of people are deeply uncomfortable with that. Whether you find it funny or not depends on how comfortable you are to be challenged yourself. The British, from where he has been brought up (though Jewish himself of course) have no problem laughing at themselves. Others find it utterly cringeworthy, and that was my point.
I believe the production team had kept the full intent under wraps and were vague, only giving the necessary parties the information of him doing a documentary for Kazakhstan. So everyone in the original film was very much unaware of how Borat was and that the entire thing was satirical, leading to the greatness that it is. Also, kind of how Borat 2 doesn't have the same charm.
@Alex Capwell the joke is that it doesn't make sense, but that it might possibly make sense (and be funny) in khazakstan - a place many many americans are unfamiliar with.
@Alex Capwell it's a joke that allows you to fill in the blanks with your own imagination. you can make it funnier in your head than any joke about an apple could actually be. look up "noodle implements" on tvtropes if you want a better explanation.
@@SpaceMissile it doesn't make any sense in Kazakhstan either (I'm Kazakh myself). He makes up every single thing about Kazakhstan in the entire movie, just to troll people lol

Democrats would have a melt down. I share your way of thinking too
@@rogerchenkenio7238 You're right. That's the reaction when your worldview is so fragile that it can't hold up to any kind of scrutiny. That's the reaction when you're brainwashed.
Welcome to republican party. Respect and laughter are just myths to the radical left.
@@danielgrossberg1411 well said sir
For bloody sure
"You have heard joke before?" Lmao! This guy is a genius!
Never seen Borat but it’s cool how much mutual rapport they have here. He wants to shock them but they are laughing in good nature so he in turn softens some of his jokes and makes it clear he is kidding. Very cool to see.
HA! He picked on the guy that sat down during the 10 minute silence with his first joke
Oh wow.. that's true. Good catch
Actually no 2:26 the guy in red stood up. The guy behind him in the white sat down. So he just picked in the guy that stood up for him.
And he got a standing ovation at the end...wow.
The lady next to him had the time of her life , she has a great sense of humor, i hope she s still around and well
although the Republicans found borat's "culture" absurd, they generally respected it.
They are experienced ans knowledgeable people. Love them.
they have no idea where he is from he is coming to learn about the US he was there to celebrate their country no reason for them to be offended, watch them in other sacha videos they are assholes
@@MESSI-fx1ob mate not all people are the same, regardless if they vote for the same party.
@@chrisss3749 didn’t say they are all the same
Why didn’t you tell this to the original commenter who believes they are respectful, they can’t be all respectful either
"watch them in other sacha videos they are assholes" it's very easy to misinterpret this statement as such
“10 seconds?”
“10 minutes..” 😂😂
I remember this back then. It was stunning that this happened in deed. What a masterpiece
I like the fact that most of the people are just enjoying the humor!
He deserves an Oscar for these roles.
For sure
SBC simply put is a genius. His comedic timing and delivery is on another level.
This is one of the most influential and inspiring political speeches in the history of mankind.
The only woman allowed in the room with a politician is a prostitute, LMAO. Imagine if this movie was made today he would be crucified 😂
No, most people would understand its satire, and he's playing a character to bring out how shitty these people are. It's not like he didn't just make a new tv show based off stereo types this year...
The look on the women's faces at 03:20 hahaha
Apparently you didn't see Who is America.
Willis Daniel u realize that borat is a satirical character. The shit he says isn’t supposed to be taken seriously
There are some pretty offensive movies out there right now
Lol - he’s so funny. I couldn’t do that without snorting with laughter. 😂
The way this man puts a spell on an entire room with his brilliant craziness is incredible.
I love how pretty much the whole room was visibly enjoying this and entertained by it!
The character of Borat exists to show the way westerners view foreigners. He's like a conduit. Those people are delighted because he's validating their stereotypes.
@@scottweber8348 or they understand its a joke, that might be it

10 mints of silence 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

Seconds?
mints🥶❄️
What this man achieved with his art is just amazing! I can’t even breathe listening to this! How does he not break character!?
My man managed the first mannequin challenge ever. 😂😂😂😂
10 min silence brooooooo lol my mistake 10 more seconds
He is so talented with satirical humour, he cracked a little but it was still absolutely brilliantly executed 😹
All of us are probably vulnerable to a lot of these "mind control" techniques.
very nice comment bro thanks!
Woman, "10...you mean 10 seconds?"
Borat," No, 10 minooots"
😂😂😂 This guy is incredible... Vaary Naaice!
They honestly did love his speech, almost the whole room was dying laughing
Sacha Baron Cohen hits it out the park every time. This is so f*****g funny
I love this crowd!!
"10 minutes silence." There's a way to get people to meditate. Embrace the shadow.
What did you put it like that?
I would have far too much social anxiety to pull off these levels of trolling, I was cringing in my own skin the entire video.
me too
That’s the whole point with Borat.
@@matth971 Dude, you got problems...not small ones, big ones... your comment was more out of line than my ex girlfriend's parking.
whoever sets these up without anybody knowing whats going on is a genius lol
HE DOES. HE'S THE BEST
You know they loved it, they gave him a standing ovation. They were genuinely amused.
One man say to other man, “hey a mister, why you wife so sad?”
He answers: “because she like-a apples!”
@Alex Capwell herpes
The movie is real
Thank you TH-cam for putting this in my recommendations after 10 years, absolute GOLD
same haha
"Please, no noise, we start again"
"my mistake, 10 more seconds"
Huge respect for those folks for willing to undergo a symbolic silence for 10 minutes. 🤣🤣
Even though Borat was nervous he managed to get a standing ovation.
Borat : draws picture of tizchik massacre
Man: how do you feel drawing this picture
Borat: very proud
Man: very proud? Oh wow what about your people , do you feel sad? Sad for your people?
Borat: no it is not sad, it is us who do the kill !
Yet he still has ten minutes silence for his proud massacre
That old men’s reaction when he says “I have seen in bathroom incredible Panis” 😂
his enthusiasm and dedication to his character is so believable!! If I were in that room I would have never found out that I was being trolled!
People love to use hyperbole far too often, but I must say that Sacha Baron Cohen is the greatest! The fact that he legitimately had everyone fooled into thinking his characters were real people is a feat that is unmatched. The material is laugh out loud funny, and is timeless..
