Thanks for the info David, I hadn’t put 2 and 2 together yet. I was thinking if your ports didn’t line up you either port it or take it to the machine shop, that’s a really handy way to cheat it with different gasket thicknesses!!!
Another intake gasket FYI, a buddy of mine had DOOE heads with a tubular GT40 intake. He had coolant leaks with new gaskets. The Cobra/Explorer gasket set doesn’t work on old heads, the coolant ports are too big, the old heads have smaller coolant ports. That was a frustrating lesson to learn...lol
Hi. I am looking to replace intake gaskets on a 351W, but was not sure which brands carry gaskets with silicone rings built into the gasket. Any help would be appreciated. I have a set of AFR 225's.
I use the steel core intake gasket and always use rtv around the water ports. Fel-pro says to install them dry. Have you ever installed them without putting rtv around the water ports and if so did they leak?
I installed mine 8 months ago dry, I'm in the middle of replacing them now, I will be using rtv around them this time, do what you will with that info, just an fyi.
@FXRSDriver I have a similar setup on my car. I used a 1250s3 and after I had a bad leak, front and rear of intake. I used RTV, and not the cork peice. Shop told me I shouldn't have used the 1250s3 and instead the 1250, non steel core. So I'm looking to buy a new gasket, or maybe just re-use this gasket, and use a ton of RTV to seal front and rear, and cross my fingers..
A leak channel engineered into the gasket?! What will they think of next lol. How about they take a notch out of the timing cover where the WP gasket lives
LEAK CHANNEL: It's a safety feature. If you have a coolant leak it prevents the coolant from getting into the engine internals... oil and intake..... When it dumps water OUTside, you know you have a coolant leak. I guess if you have a coolant leak then you have a pitted head or intake surface. THINK ABOUT IT.🤔🤔🤔
Another informative vid by Dave. Well done.
great video man
Excellent. Thank you for this. 👍👍

Certainly is cheaper
@@Sikulz Didn't know that, probably could have spotted that during assembly, like I should have when I used those 351 gaskets on my son's cobra.
@@Sikulz what gaskets you go with?
@@Dre1966mustang David told me about the Fel Pro 1250S3, they have a steel core, they’re a little more expensive but I’m having good luck with them.
Thanks David

I'd recommend the fel pro 1262S3
@@FXRSDriver Looks good. Just ordered one. Thanks! Great video!

RTV is cheap. Why not?
I need to block off the center egr. Which one do I get?
Which heads do you have?
When putting trick flow heads on 302 with a elderbrock intake what intake gasket should I use
I like the 1250S3
@@FXRSDriver why 1250s3 over the regular 1250 ?

Good day sir. Does it need to apply small amount of rtv on a new .060 std gaskets during replacement?
I always put a real thin skin of ultra gray around water ports.
@@FXRSDriver thankyou
What's a egr
Good to know stuff thanks 🐎🚗🔧💪🙌👊🇺🇸

There is one on the bottom...lol
@@FXRSDriver Perfect!!
Most people don’t realize that they are thicker. Thanks
