      Some advice if using thief relic i am a power untamed main i get 3 k more dps using dragonhunter relic. Been using it since you might like to try that. i dont run a quickness untamed but you might like. Course it means your opener will need to be frost trap to make the most out of the bonus strike damage. I learned this last week when commander said my untamed dps was low it fixed my dps to 30k dps on golem base. In my dps untamed rotation i do frost trap exploding spores 2 then 4 saving ccs for breakbars. However i never played quick untamed. You might be able to make it work with frost traps bonus dps.

    Your experience in ranger helped you a lot picking this build up without any doubt.
    To me you also felt a lot more confident speaking about traits and general build functionality compared to the videos about other professions probably for the same reason.
    As a complete stranger to ranger I found this video really interesting.

    Unironically, as a Charr Ranger, I use the racial Artillery Strike Elite with this build just because you can precast it and it does an /okay/ amount of damage.

    Condi Quick Untamed is great fun too, would strongly recommend it. If you find you're not enjoying it, try removing the main hand axe and just using dagger+torch/dagger+dagger, it simplifies the build because you're getting the same ambush twice, plus you get twice the number of green stink explosions which is trolling value against your squadmates; a win-win I'd say.

Super nice to have a reasonable duration video that explains the main underlying patterns you have to do to get that boon/max dps. Also makes me interested in trying other classes/builds.     One thing I've enjoyed about this series is that I can see enough of the fundamentals even with the classes I don't play to understand if these builds look like something I would enjoy or not. It gives me enough information to form my own opinion that doesn't always line up with Muk's.

    I have been really enjoying untamed this patch since the release of the maces...the damage is insane and the survivability in open world is incredible...once I mastered the double ambush technique as you mention it was a game changer. And I usually avoided this class because I didn't like having to manage a pet so specifically but the buffs you get for the different unleashed states really changed my view of dealing with a pet. 10/10 fun build.

    Pretty much this in open world, but second weapon set as axe/warhorn instead of sword just to have a range option for tagging. Recommended for anyone that wants a very easy ow experience. Don't do f1-f3 in order, do f3 first then f2 to do a combo field + blast finisher, or use f2 for other fields.
    Edit: Oh and evasive purity in nature magic instead to remove extra conditions, helpful when gathering for example in bitterfrost frontier to get rid of chilled and mount up quicker.

    i would say scrapper and untamed play very similarly, both very sturdy brawlers with nice dps and some cool utility. one thing you should definitely repeat here is the pet unleash f2 is a boon strip on very low cd and the f3 is a projectile block with very high uptime.
    on the build choice: i do think that condi quick untamed is slightly stronger, but it obviously depends on the fight and hammer feels very nice. the master trait on untamed should be the one that gives you personal quick or stab whenever you disable the target which you do a lot. that way you give yourself very nice passive stab and you can guarantee that your long cast time skills, especially hammer ambush cast with quickness. the trait you picked makes every ambush strip boons which can be amazing for fights with a lot of boons on the boss like quadim1/quadim2/fractals. the middle trait makes your unleash button cleanse you every 10s, so it can be very nice for personal sustain in condi heavy fights.
    i also love the untamed heal skill. if you do take marksmanship you wanna take we heal as one though to give your pet boons for more dps. and the untamed elite feels really good to use, even though it's obviously only personal sustain, but alone the stab uptime and the high uptime on 50% dmg reduction feels really good.
    for more experienced players, you can run relic of the dragonhunter or relic of the deadeye by replacing storm spirit with either flame trap or exploding spores to get a higher and faster burst than with thief relic which is very good for short phases.

    Haven't gotten into raiding or strikes yet, but I use this build for OW. Only difference is I use Mace/Mace+Hammer Evasive Purity over Spirited Arrival in NM and I swap Frost trap for "Protect Me!" so I will have a stun break. As for pets, I have turtle for my tank pet and the other pet is whatever I'm in the mood to use since it doesn't matter much in OW (I will swap to Tiger in events/bosses where DPS is really needed) Good news is I won't have to change much about my build much if I ever decided to do end game content :D

    I play untamed aswell but I don't like axe 5 in general and also not the gapcloser of sword unleash (especially on stuff like AdinaCM) - so I still use maces, even though they are not as good as they used to be in the beginning. Also it has the benefit of making great use of the new trait (with the 3k lifesteal on each CC), to make up for the concentration loss and to be on the safe side I run packrunes + diviners trinkets, so usually it's overcapped. Most likely less dps than your build (not sure if arc even shows lifesteal correctly) but boy is it nice to constantly have loads of CC available (I use hammer 3 and 5 in petmode before unleashing and weaponswapping - or if needed and I happen to be on hammer for on demand CC ...3 is actually double CC). instead of frosttrap I use the untamed CC skill also. Added bonus is the groupheal on mace 2 and unleash. But that's just my 2 cents - great video and explanation of the class!
    Edit: that is also what I run in PVE everywhere because it cannot die due to 3k lifesteal on each CC aswell

    For those that dont know and dont mind a little risk i use power untamed for everything. I use to run thief relic until i was told by raid group my dps was low. I played around with build and gear trying to up my dps. Then i stumbled across Dragonhunter Relic it upped my dps 3k to the point for a bit in final w7 raid boss i was top dps. Been using it since last week and that happened because all i changed was relic in the end. Now i use frost trap off cool down and unleash if can then do 2 and 4 and maybe exploding spores or frost trap then exlploding spores and unleash go through my melee rotation of 2 and 4. I get a consistant on golem 30k dps. Felt i should share this new find.

    Oh my Muk, are you not aware that Untamed is literally God in open world ? I'm not joking, power untamed can probably solo like 10 champions at the same time alone. It's ridiculously overpowered as a solo build.

      Lord Hizen has ruined my ability to scale open world builds, now if I see an open world build that cant solo a legendary in 34 seconds I don't know what to think about it xD

    Re: Open World, a full power damage build taking Wilderness Survival for Carnivore feels nigh unkillable. It combines with the other big chunks of healing you get for ambushes so you are getting constant flat bursts of healing without any heal power. If you're in a tough fight you can swap to gazelle and increase the frequency of healing even further.

    Your heal and elite skill are pretty much w/e you prefer. The build has the untamed utilities as default, because both of them give superspeed while unleashed which helps with mechanics and getting back to the group faster which results in better boon uptime.
    Axe is actually a pretty significant dps loss (~32k vs 35k). However, for fights where range might come in handy (like deimos) it is definitely reasonable to choose axe over sword.
    Nature Magic vs Marksmanship has been discussed pretty thoroughly. You'll want ~40% boon duration in order to keep up quickness. With Nature Magic and Firework runes you'll have 41%. When running Marksmanship you'll have to take more diviner pieces (and with that more assassin to still crit cap). On the golem both builds are about equal, but you loose all extra benefits that Nature Magic provides (while Marksmanship is basically just dps modifiers).
    As for might, you can run Junge Stalker as one pet (hence the recommended Tiger + Jungle Stalker on SC) and use F2 as well as pet swap off cooldown. That way you can keep up ~20 might for your group.
    There is also a variant that plays hammer+mace/mace, which is ~33k dps. That way you also provide ~80% protection, 100% regeneration (nice for non heal groups) and some vigor. When running this variant, you can easily compete with heralds boon output.
    And as you already figured out, the build also feels really good in open world. I always recommend trying out different weapon combinations in open world. As a matter of fact, most untamed players agree that axe ambush feels the best among all ambush skills. Running around with something like axe/axe+axe/mace and just aim-botting everything feels incredible.
    I usually run brown bear as my second pet in open world to have a really tanky pet if something goes wrong. You can also swap Nature Magic to Wilderness Survival for a pretty much immortal open world build, but that's a whole other rabbit whole to get into.

    The spirit utilities are really great for some encounter :
    - Slothazor : Frost spirit can carry this fight on beginner/PU setting. With Nature Magic, it cleans 2 times 3 condi group wide + give resolution (perfect to handle shake) and resistance (to counter fear from CC or the corrupt)
    - Deimos : Stone spirit for the potential block on mind crush
    Also, if your healer is struggling providing every boon, you can help them by slotting Stone Spirit for around 50% prot uptime or Sun Spirit for 18 Might uptime

    I like the quickness tied to ambush but feel like the weapin swap part is clunky would rather a trait give ambush after using a cantrip or give quickness for using the pet side of abilities less button mashing

    About nature magic: your pet get fury and might, that also give damage.
    This build has enough dps to switch some stat for more concentration. I use 80% boon duration, so I have room for doing other things if need (or just being bad/unlucky)
    Also, on Soulless horror, your pusher will hate you. you do random CC stoppong the add. Please watch out for that if you do it.
    Tip: Vow of the Untamed (3rd minor trait) unleash pet for damage reduction. Otherwise just be unleashed for damage bonus. Also the pet don't get the bonuses.

    An important thing to consider for the untamed build is that precasting for quickness is quite hard and that some weapons unleash skill requires targetting so you cannot do it in rotation during some phases (for instance dagger unleash that is common in condi qdps untamed). Otherwise its a great video.

    I play this exact build with a glass pet in open world all the time. It's great. I like axe over sword for open world. Axe ambush is a great opener in a group of spaced out enemies.

    I stopped playing Hammer on my Quickness Untamed because it causes me to stall for Hammer 4. Going Mace/Mace | Axe/WH I feel more flexible. I might not be pumping 35k, but I do easily 30k and absolutely no issues with boon uptime.

    Not surprised you like it and I agree that Untamed is more ranger-like than Soulbeast. Not sure what the 1% time unmerged could be though.
    The zoom-ins were great, thanks Noxxi.
    You could have used the ARCdps boon table although I agree that the addon is nicer to read.
    Axe has 900 range so that's just enough to hit Deimos with maximum size oil fields. Not sure how much damage you would lose though. You could even take another off-hand weapon or long bow to always have a range option. It won't change you quickness generation but you can always deal damage. Might be better on some bosses but probably quite a bit worse on most.

    Since Anet made Untamed Quickness functional, I have been enjoying the Bonk-Bonk build on everything. It allows me to be supportive for my group and deal amazing burst damage. However, it's not recommended to bring this build into Old Lion's Court Strike or any other CC-sensitive team content. Since every skill in your rotation provides some crowd control, it's difficult to refrain from using CC because it results in a not insignificant loss of damage, especially during certain phases. However, overall, the Ranger is amazing and entertaining in open world scenarios. I absolutely love playing as a Ranger.

    But the “heal skill immortal” doesn’t work everywhere you would want it to. Sabir shockwave gets through it and a few other things that Mesmer distort does better at. Or even aed on engineer

      That's just how it goes with the different types of invulnerability. Did you know that distortion doesn't save you from the damage of the pushes or pulls in OLC? And I mean "or" very specifically, it's one or the other and I can't remember which.

      The spirit of nature rez revives 5 people, but with the trait that makes it proc twice, it gets 5 more a second later for a total of ten.

      I'd say theres a scale. Like I just did quick berserker on stream and the apm on that was INSANE. Like my wrist hurt after an hour of playing it, that was a bit much. On the opposite end of the spectrum was alacrity tempest which I got bored on cause the button clicking was so slow. I feel like this build is somewhere in a sweet spot in the middle (for me) and I enjoyed it.

    I recently tried out Untamed (I tried it once when it was still the build with the massive cooldown reduction), and I made a build with axe/axe + mace/mace from metabattle, and I like it, but I still got to learn the rotation.

    Me waiting for Mukluk to mention that if you don't get to hit the unleash that you miss the ambush window and quickness for 9 seconds... and it never happened :( Bad Mukluk!
    Major cons of this build:
    If you don't hit 1 after weapon swapping because you want to use a cc instead at a critical moment, any other weapon skill will cancel the ambush. RIP reactivity and quickness for 9 seconds.
    So if you get cc'ed or need to do a mechanic after weapon swapping - which you HAVE to do, RIP quickness.
    An ally leaves the group to do a mechanic, RIP quickness for 9 seconds or in general any extra time you spent weapon swapping.
    You lack 100% uptime in quickness at the start of the fight when people set up their burst -> feels really bad.
    If the boss leaves the arena or area and you have to use sword ambush, you leap away from the group which can be dangerous. Not fun, just like willbender F2.
    To me it's just too specific and punishing that I would never recommend it.

      Responding to a couple of your points:
      You have a lot of CC on storm spirit (which does double with nature magic) and pet swapping to gazelle, which you can exhaust before you rely on weapon skills.
      I didn't feel like I lacked quickness at start of fight? I would engage with the pet unleashed -> move unleash to me -> ambush, so maybe 1 second into the fight I was providing quickness.
      I actually don't understand your first point about the ambush window and waiting 9 seconds? Would love more explanation there.
      The sword thing is true, but I rarely ran into that being an issue.

      @@MuklukTH-cam Most players won't think to use their utilities (provided they are off cooldown since they have a longer ICD and can be used on any weapon set which makes them less likely to be available in niche situations whereas hammer and axe 4 will more likely be off cooldown since they couldn't be used when in the other weapon set). Swapping pets is probably rarely done due it being tied to a button that is rarely used in general gameplay. I'm just providing an argument for casual players that would fall back on what they most commonly use as opposed to utilities or pet swaps that are a lot more niche and used in reserve situations.
      When entering into an arena you will only start giving quickness after unleashing. On bosses that don't swap on the stack this will lead to 1-2 seconds before quickness starts. Then that 1 second after the first unleash. It is 1 second, sure, but it happens during burst opening rotations which are the most practiced rotations. It's a lot easier to pick up tiny details that interfere with your opener than 5 minutes into a fight with a scuffed rotation due to mechanics. I know I would immediately know feel the impact, and with it being so early into the fight it would set a bad taste in my mouth from the get go.
      The 9 second window is because the quickness is done in chunks. Unlike scrapper or herald (for example) they deliver many small packets of quickness that build up over a long period of time, whereas the untamed gives one big burst of quickness on a 9 second cooldown. So if someone isn't in range then the untamed will be physically unable to provide quickness for the next 9 seconds.
      According to the wiki: "If player missed the 4 second time window to use Unleashed Ambush skill then 15 second cooldown does not start and player can use the skill again, but only after using Unleash Ranger which requires returning to Unleash Pet". That 4 second window also disappears if you use any other weapon skill first, which works the same mechanically as stealth attack abilities on thief weapons. So if you don't pay specific attention to hit 1 on your keyboard after swapping weapons, your unleash ability disappears. Since we can only unleash on weapon swap, that's a hard 9 second cooldown if you make the mistake or are dodging/focusing on other mechanics in that small window.
      The sword thing mainly applies to bosses like Sabetha or Dhuum or Twin Largos or Quadim 1. Any boss that becomes untargetable and has either adds or small platforms where the stack hugs the edge coupled with auto-target toggled in the settings can be a problem. It doesn't happen often, for sure.. but the fact that it can happen means it will happen sometimes, and when it does it can be annoying. Not the end of the world for sure, but it is undesired forced movement for the sake of upkeeping alacrity during a down period.

      @@kajhall3581 If you care about that 1 second quick, you can just unleash ranger right before the fight starts and make the ambush your very first action in the fight to give quickness right from the first moment. The only delay is if you're pressing pet-unleash 3-2-1 then unleash ranger then ambush. But you totally have the option to just start with the ambush right away if you prioritzie giving quick from the first moment on vs getting a bit more personal damage out at the start.
      There is a 4 second time window to use the ambush after you go unleash ranger or did a weapon swap. 4 seconds is quite long, and the ambushes give the quick right at the start of their cast. As long as you press your auto-attack once after unleashing, you give out the quick. If you have to do CC, you can just do the hammer ambush then interrupt with CC skills right away and you've still given out the quickness. If it's the sword or mace ambush, they even do some defiance dmg on their own - sword ambush has a daze, mace 3sec immobilize. Just prioritize hitting your ambush quickly each time you unleash ranger or weapon swap, it's a very small delay even if you have to deal with a CC bar, which is a group effort anyhow - if it fails with that small delay, chances are it would have failed anyways.
      You're kinda saying qUntamed loses its quick uptime if it misses it's opportunity to give out quickness. But isn't that true for most of the boondps? If Scrapper wastes its blast finishers without hitting fields, it missed the chance to give out quickness. If Tempest gets overload interrupted or finishes when people are spread, they miss out on alac. If people are spread or there's no target for generating clones to shatter, Chrono looses uptime on its chosen boon. Most classes that don't give an overkill amount of boonuptime (which they often don't, cause boondps builds tend to minimize boonduration to 'just enough' so they can put the rest of stats for damage) will lose uptime when they can't give their boons for a while or if there's a spread mechanic.
      Forced Movement is there yeah, but you have the option take it out by playing axe/axe over sword/axe or mace/mace for less (but still some) forced movement. And it's again not the only class that has forced movement and has to learn when to be careful about pressing those buttons when there are places where you can fall down.
      You say you're arguing for casual players that may make mistakes, and that qUntamed should not be recommended. I'd argue it's not harder to upkeep the boon with it than with other boondps (except Herald, but Herald has always been on the throne of easiest boon providing) - it's a quite easy rotation once you get a feel for it. If you assume mistakes being made, those happen with other classes too and the boon uptime suffers from it. I find it a bit weird that you say you're arguing for casual players but then bring raid bosses as examples for situations where it matters, so does your definition of casual players include raiders?
      Edit: Just went ingame to test. Using weapon skills other than 1 does not make you lose your ambush charge. You can cast 2 3 4 or 5 and then still do the ambush if it's within the 4 seconds of unleashing ranger. The ambush attacks can be interrupted by using any other skill, even autoattack. But that does not affect the quickness uptime since you give quick the moment the ambush starts, not when it ends.

    Dear Arena Net, give Soulbeast Quickness please.
    As a ranger main, I don't wanna play Untamed. I hate it. It feels clunky. I have to mash all my buttons on cd. Please please peetty please.
