    Same exact bottom end. Polaris was doing a free update at the time. Anybody that had purchased a 95 storm were given 96’ cylinders pistons and rings. Direct bolt on.cylinders as a swap for the stock ones. And a cooling modification.
    94’ storms were just given the cooling mod.

    • @toddclyne3493
      @toddclyne3493  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The free update was cylinders and pistons that will only fit on a 95 bottom end. 96 and up is a different bottom end. We have a 94', 95' with the update done and a 96'. We can the difference in them

    Todd, you're saving some of the most important sleds of a generation, and improving them at the same time, it's amazing to see. The technology on the new sleds is great, but nothing will ever take the place of the raw power and simplicity of these sleds. You should do an old Speedway 440- those things were a beast back in the day, it would be awesome to see what you could do with one!

    I feel your fed ex issues. I needed to ship a pair of window regulators to Puerto Rico . I was quoted $145. Ok next day which is today December 20 and was told that is would cost me $318 to ship it fed ex priority and it would get there on dec 27. I was like umm what they then say I can ship it regular freight for $209 and it would be there on dec 23. Um baffled on the shipping dates and a little hot about me taking it in the shorts $64 that cut into my profit on my parts I had no choice.

    Whats the deal with that water bypass setup?

  • @brianvalastro7283
    @brianvalastro7283 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Needs 3x the size of stock pilot jet from being 60 over. Then from there prolly 1-2 more up with pilot bc of the after market pipes. Same exact idea with main jet 3-4 sizes bigger then stock bc of being 3 sizes over and account for pipes.Then you want your air screws all of them at 1 to 1.5 turns out i set the carb idle screws 3.5 turns out. When your at this point check to make sure your slides all open n close same time. Set the slide needle middle notch and go out and do plug chops. Read plugs and raise/lower needle/change jets till you have the right heat indexing on the ground strap. You want a good cardboard brown color on your porcelain run b9es in the summer and b8es in the winter and dont use resistor plugs it will limit power. Im not sure why your running water cooling?? it will freeze the impeller and shatter fins on it. Evans waterless is much better for it has a much higher boiling point then water. Boiling water in a cyl is a blown head gasket good luck

    Why such staggered main jets if that's what the blue masking tape on the clutch cover means?

    • @Gibbons_76
      @Gibbons_76 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The storm was the first case reed triple from fuji and it's the only one that parts weren't directly interchangeable with the other ultra/xcr based case reed triples that followed. It was a bit of an oddball. Stock jetting was 350/370/390 mains. The up-jetting on this particular storm is definitely due the light port work on the case/cylinders. It's the only fuji case reed triple that every cylinder needed different jetting, it was something to do with the engine having scavenging issues between cylinders. on the ultra/xcr triples, only the mag side had scavenging issues.

    • @Mogachaffe
      @Mogachaffe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this a customers sled or your own sled? Would be really interested to see what the piston wash looks like once you get some carbon built up to see if the staggered jets is actually that critical.

    • @TheDillio187
      @TheDillio187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very common due to differences in the pipes, cylinders themselves, intakes etc hole to hole. Happens in twins, too. I had a built Banshee that was several sizes different in the main, needle clips, and pilots.

      Even on my 03 700 sks i have to run staggered jetting because of the slp mods. Just rebuilt it 5 days ago so I'll be re checking wash/ plugs often as soon as we get some rideable snurrrr

    • @Gibbons_76
      @Gibbons_76 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mogachaffe I have a '94 storm. Completely stock other than custom stingers/collector. I've never had the heads off to see what the piston wash is like, but I did have to up jet because of the collector. Last time I had it out all the plugs were burning very similarly. It's still a tad bit rich, but that's most likely to do with the startor being on its way out and the beyond hacked up wiring from a one of the previous owners.

    Shipping sucks everywhere. I got a package shipped to me priority from a 1.75 hour drive away(same state) and it took 8 days. It actually went to 2 other states while making it back to NJ. Looked like someone drove over it. Since mid Oct I have had 8 Amazon packages go missing or returned to vendor and 2 others nobody knows what happened to them-one says shipped the other says no but had said yes. Covid is just a reason for folks to slack, it's total BS and it hurts folks like us that depend on packages

    Please taech him to let the recoil grab before he pulls through to start the sled. What he’s doing is the fastest way to ruin a recoil. Lol. PLEASE FOR ME TODD!! 😅

      We'll have to work on his recoil skills. In his defense it's an animal to pull over. He said it really really hurt his hand when the engine failed to start. Thanks for watching

    Why do you guys tilt the tach to the side?

      Easier to just glance down and see if the rpm needle is straight up.

    I need a motor... I just bought a 2000 XCR 800 chassis. I am new to snowmobiles. I wanted a project sled. I didn't realize how expensive and rare the 800 motors are. I need a 99-2003 xcr 800 motor if anyone in the comment section here can help a brother out. Thank you
