We have a traditional rig (full keel cutter) and are also planning a 40 day passage. Except this 40 day passage will be our returning transatlantic passage and not all the way around the world 🤪
He actually said "the sail plan is pretty conventional", which it is. It has a mainsail and a headsail. It's a sloop ring. The mainsail is not a wingsail, and has three reef points.
Imagine having the coin and the craziness to own something like this and converting it to a cruiser 😁 I mean fully decked out for comfort, push button winches, full set of furling sails... Sure it wouldn't go as fast as the raw example but it'd be one hell of a passage maker🤘🥳
Limited space in this one by the looks, our Team NZ boats have their own spaces made for the bikes, although, the bikes were abandoned in the final heats in 2017 ,no matter,we still got the comp in Auckland, can't wait.
I'll never get to sail one but absolutely love seeing the engineering that goes into these amazing wind powered speed machines
“Go fast, but be ready to save the boat.” This is the mantra of every ocean sailor. Bring it to the limit, but just. 🙂
That feeling when you’re crawling on a net with the sea rushing by just below you at 30 knots...
Wow this epic footage. The new Cab forward design looks fantastic. The new boat is surprisingly roomy inside.
"We have a very traditional rig with a rotating wingmast"
It's conventional in Ultime world!
@@yachtingworld Hahahaha, he then continues with "And we have a very traditional hull with retractable foils..."
and we have very traditional Light sabers, lol. and traditional carbon fiber cutlery.

Love it. Proper engineering
Absolutely incredible
"Nothing is very dry on this boat."
"If you know what I mean"
Amazing, wow! I do like that he say 90% auto pilot, and that the autopilot is better than a human in most times! Humble to the profession!
Un vieux rêve enfin réalisé, faire voler les bateaux! Il me semble que c'est un inventeur français à qui ont doit le concept, c'est magnifique
cant wait for foiling to enter the cruising market.
Amazing :)

Very interesting! Cool to see :)
What a machine!
One day soon ...

Here oui ave a convenchional foil... I'm surprised there is a conventional hull somewhere... ;o)
What about keeping a watch for other (slower) boats or logs or floating containers or ships? Isn't that a requirement? With love, Ken
Probably never see logs, containers or whales in time
Forward looking sounder
Radar will tell them that,i wonder if they have a radar station on that thing,or just have it in the helm area?.
It's insane :)
All in all, it's so conventional
Conventional is good. Team Phillips learned that the hard way.
Correct me if I am wrong , but I thought that you always load a winch clockwise !
not always. on more modern race yachts, it's becoming more common to load symmetrically, usually inside to outside
Now that is a thrill ride, did he mention what the top speed was at any given time?
They are regularly into mid-40s... Francois Gabart has hit 49.6 knot in Macif
Nothing conventional about that boat. 8:42 He wrapped the winch counterclockwise and four wraps are about 12 feet a line 😳
Grinders? That's so 20th century, why not bikes like the NZ America's Cup boat? Way more power available
Limited space in this one by the looks, our Team NZ boats have their own spaces made for the bikes, although, the bikes were abandoned in the final heats in 2017 ,no matter,we still got the comp in Auckland, can't wait.
used by Frank Cammas on Groupama 3. Currently IDEC sport, surely use on other boats.
because offshore you don't need raw power output, you need accessibility
I want to be one of them, as professional skeeper an important part of crew. Greatest challenge.
be born again ....
What happened to "around the world in 40 days"? This is just a tour of the boat.
Hold fast!
How come you don't race the Sydney to Hobart in this?
What kind of speeds does she fly at?
He said 20 knots
Slick Rock - takes off at 20, cruising at 35-40, max 45kn
Depend on wind.
So much of this boat is "conventional"! Lol 🤪
For a foiling multihull, it's generally very conventional except for the forward location of the cabin.
It is conventional, all except the cockpit location. The other stuff has been well tried and tested for decades.
yeah yeah. this indeed looks very traditional and standard to me. mhm yehh it's okay i guess
They need hydraulic , so they have engine.
But Why they do repeating thing when they had already did Hydroptera.
monohulls can afford to capsize, not multihulls haha
Really? And gamble with the lives on board? They might get away with it more often, though not always, but they can't simply "afford to capsize".
You see more capsized multihulls than monohulls. Because the monohulls sink when rolled, you don't see them.
Fast
Why are they being rude to ebo?
they're French
"Center of mass" not ahem "center of gravity" ahem..
Is it still onehand sailing If you have so many electonic Helpers on Board? 🤭
yes
Skynet robot overlords don't count
Cool video but I gave it a thumbs down just because it's a french boat
Written by someone who seems ignorant of what it takes to design, build and sail these boats.
@@sjfodor There's a big difference between DESIGNING the boat and SAILING it you stupid donkey...
What s the pb about being a french boat ?
Jalous again about french ingeniering ???
Yeah, because the French are taking R jobbbsss!
