I have zero complaints using this solely for gaming on a Series X. I'm slowly building a monster of a PC rn. Hopefully the great experience I'm having so far on console will translate nicely to using it as a primary monitor. There'll no doubt be several firmware updates by the time my build is complete. So far, the $600.00 I payed feels like a steal.
@@carnivoras No I have yet to purchase it i found the information on the internet, although what is holding me back from buying the g7 are 2 other displays, a 2000 nit mini led 55 inch tv with 800 dimming zones and the LG 48 C2. Can't decide which one I should get!
Copped 3 on sale for 499. Aware of some of the issues, figured I’d take my chances anyway. Waiting for my monitor stand to arrive this upcoming weekend.
@@Str8fromthemancave Just a heads up, the monitor mount I bought didn't have the right kind of screws for this monitor. I dug through Samsung's website and found out that you'll need 4 M8 screws that are 18-20mm long
Thanks for the review! I bought two of these today on sale. I could not pass up the deal ($499). My wife and I are putting together a gaming room so one is for xbox and one is for PC. We may be using them as TV's as well from time to time. The combination of features Samsung bundled together here made them a natural fit for what we wanted. We get will be trying them out later this week, maybe I can post more about them then.
Great review! I ordered this thing yesterday from Walmart for "get this" $399. I plan on using it for flight simulator and for xbox series x and ps5.for that price, I had to buy it.
I am soooo happy with mine. Granted its my first 4k monitor but holy crap is this thing amazing IMO. The weird thing about this monitor is you see smear and ghosting with the UFO test, and your mouse cursor in windows has some ghosting and some black smear if you move it quickly....but in practise, playing games?...its fantastic.
Your strobing on 144 is because your camera is at a different refresh rate, 120 or a multiple there of, 30, 60, or 120 fps, so you are catching refresh by running a multiple of 30 by a multiple of 144. It's not a monitor issue, just a timing issue, like the tires turning backwards on wagons and cars on some movies.
I understand that but 90% of the monitors I review are 144hz and they don’t strobe when recording outside of those that achieve it via overclocking. Those that do are overlocking and VA panels so to me it has more to do with that.
This thing is a beast. One tip. If it flickers or turns off try going in the settings and turn off "gamer mode." That seemed to straighten it out. It has been perfect ever since.
I got one of these for $500 for Black Friday, and jumped on it before reading reviews based on my son being happy with the Neo G8 32". I am using it for its smart hub and Airplay 2, and using the bluetooth out for my Audioengine HD4 speakers with an SVS Sub. It's much better with my PC than my old Asus VG27AQ 27" 1440p monitor that Ive been using for thew past 2 years. I have the G8 OLED on my MacMini M2 Pro 12/19 core, and if that wasn't $899 vs $500 I might have bought another one for my bedroom PC...
Thank you for this wonderful review. I bought it at a massive discount in Canada, and the past few days of use have been very satisfying. Another famous reviewer, Monitors Unboxed, said that LS43 (Neo G7 43 G70NC) has only 360 (30 by 12) dimming zones. Like you, I cannot find the exact number of mini LEDs or dimming zones on official sites. So I've been wondering which of you is actually correct.
It's a year later, my 34" UW is dying, and I just ordered this thing as a new open box in excellent condition for a hair over $300 from Best Buy. I can't imagine being disappointed with any aspect of it at that price! :P
Dude, same! Got it for $305!!! I gotta say I love it. The fact you have so many options for customization is amazing and at the price we got these, it's a steal. I think you'll love yours.
Others are reporting that this monitor has only a little over 300 local dimming zones (it's the monitor version of the 43" QN90C tv). The 32" Odyssey Neo G7 is the one with over 1,100 zones. It doesn't help that Samsung uses the same model name for different monitors. BTW, yours are the only reviews I'm aware of which go over every single settings option.
Yea the naming is confusing and Samsung told me it was the higher local dimming zones but I’ve seen others test and show that doesn’t seem to be the case. I reached out to Samsung after learning this with no response back
@@1UpNerdcore Willing to bet that, had the Odyssey Neo G8 43" had 1,196 zones, Samsung would have definitely listed that fact in their marketing info. It's only when manufacturers know products have low desired specs or features that they choose not to reveal them.
Just snagged an open box deal from Best Buy for $305.00. Took about 25 minutes of searching the store to find the item and it turns out the geek squad employees had hidden it in their area because one of them was going to purchase it after the shift lol. In any case, at this price point, and even the $499 that it sometimes goes on sale as, this is probably one of the best values out there right now. The fact that there are so many options to customize to your liking being one of the top reasons. I also love that it is basically a multimedia hub like the video explained. As far as the reports of bad ghosting, using a test and playing in a real world scenario are totally different test samples. I honestly don't notice the ghosting when playing games myself and wow, does this thing look gorgeous in HDR! My verdict would be, if its under 500, snag it up, full price, pass!
@@Nehpets94 It's amazing... I bought mine a week ago. Found an open box item deal at Best buy for $305.00!! Employees told me it was the best deal they have ever seen lol. The thing about reviews is they use ufo tests, etc...to show the technical limitations of a monitor, but using it in real time is always the better indicator. I myself have not had a problem with bad ghosting or smearing at all in my daily use. I use a PC, console and stream and it is one of the better looking screens I have ever had. The amount of fine tuning you can do with this also makes it easier to get it to where you like it as far as picture. Definitely pull the trigger if you can find it for $499 or under!!!
Almost returned mine due to horrible inverse ghosting and general response time during basic office/productivity tasks. Gaming mode didn't help but eye saver mode did!!! Decided to keep it after that.
Great review! One thing to keep in mind when always comparing these with OLEDs, is the size and the market. Not everybody buys this for gaming only I work on these kind of monitors for a good couple of years and usually I focus on some part of the screen while the other is static... That being said, I fear an OLED will have burnouts in these conditions. It might be better at other things but unfortunately not at this(yet)
Yeah, I want a big non-oled 4k monitor for gaming, work and tv etc. I also want it to last for 5+ years. No chance of that with OLED burn in. Which leaves my options really limited. This is one of the few real options out there. Everyone seems to be going OLED for gaming monitors. And I'm just still not sure if I want this with the ghosting.
@mytimetravellingdog ghosting is a downside on this, true... 5 years, unfortunately I can not guarantee, mine lasted 30 days.... It's the first monitor to break down in my entire life. Bad luck? It may be, but it had software issues all down the line from minute 0. The most annoying one, if the monitor entered sleep mode, I could not bring it back without turning Game mode on and off, regardless of the state of the PC... and the list can go on from here on... For me, it was the worst monitor experience, but it could be the unit itself was flawed to begin with
Thanks for the thorough review. I have a question on the text/productivity side. I currently use a Dell 43" which is only 60hz/terrible ghosting etc...but it's IPS. I will mostly use the monitor for productivity/programming/video editing etc....but I really would like to have essentially the same monitor I have now with higher refresh rate which is why the G7 is interesting. I occasionally play FPS games for fun, and 60hz is just bad on the dell. I don't do any scaling, just 100% at 4k/43" and I like that for productivity. Do you think the Samsung G7 VA panel will look the same in that scenario as the IPS dell? I know it's a long shot but, hoping you may have some insight on that. Thanks again for the great review. I'm specifically worried about text fringing, oddly, I had the same OLED ROG you had and I just couldn't handle the text fringing for work tasks. Another tempting reason is that it's $499 right now...
Thanks for providing such as elaborate review. I actually switched to using an LG C3 monitor with 120 hz refresh rate instead of using Samsung Neo G7 43 inch monitor. It has an OLED panel which was far more superior in my opinion to mini-LED and the size is about the same (42 inch). Therefore, made a return. But thanks again for the review and elaborate insights.
Thank you for the review! You've convinced me to pick this instead of the Aorus FV43U. Don't care much about ghosting as i don't play as much as I used to, I just hope text is fine as i need it for programming. As soon as it gets here, I will have a look at the other 2 videos you posted about HDR and non-HDR settings for "quality of life" improvements. Thanks again for taking the time to explain things and getting the right settings for this smart "monitor". Cheers!
@@CrueMusic Hey! I didn't notice any massive ghosting. I worried about text clarity this when I read other people had to install something called TrueType fonts for other "TV" type monitors but for Samsung, I didn't have to. The only thing a bit annoying is on Linux when Gaming mode is set to on, it tends to turn off/on when lots of text scrolls in console. Other than that, more than happy with my choice. Cheers!
Only drawbacks with C2 for me are possible burn-in and not able to disable local dimming (only from service menu, which voids guarantee). Local dimming has been fixed in C3 and possibly some burn-in tech has been also added.
From the home tab hit the left key button to bring up the side menu. At the bottom of that it has a menu tab, click on that, on the far right it has multi view. That’s it 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore Thank you! This was the one feature that I thought I compromised on when I purchased this monitor. Ghosting issues aside, I think this is a great alternative to OLED for those who don’t want to deal with possible burn in issues. Especially when priced at 699.99 or less.
Just as long as this monitor is way better looking than my acer Nitro Curved FHD Monitor I will be happy with this I got it on sale for like $550 because of Black Friday sales with the Acer that I have I only paid $170 I get the neo G7 this Wednesday so I kind of can't wait
Just ordered for my son from xmas.... hoe did we do? Haven't been gaming for a long time but he is into it and wanted to give him an edge over my 10 year old samsung tv he inherited from me
Dang, what happened with the ghosting? I'm pretty sure that the 32" one didn't have this problem. It's a shame that that one's curved because I prefer flat screens.
suggest unboxing quickly, i ran into a lot of issues that I think are "as designed" with this product that has made me decide to return it before my 30 days is up.
@@mattheworelup I already unboxed it and have used it for a day now, main reason I bought is for my setup, I have a 45 inch area through the wall where I wanted to have a screen for my ps5, this one is the best monitor/tv i came across and for 500$ which was a great deal when comparing other options. But can I ask what issues did you have that were “as designed”?.
@@visiionz_6699 So I feel as though the display port sleep issue is "as designed" because i assume it is the smart tv software on it that is causing the problem. Never had a monitor have this kind of issue before. I'm not sure if ps5 has a sleep mode as well for display but may want to try that out a bit. Just set your monitor to sleep after a minute, step away for a few then come back and move the mouse and see what happens for you. also I assume "as designed" since this has been out for a while with firmware updates, and i've found a lot of people commenting about the problem. BGR for me i thought wouldn't be a big problem, and text is a "little" fuzzy but i'm not sure if that is more to due with me being more used to IPS rather than VA. I do notice that sometimes when using darkmode, the text is a grey color and any scrolling of the text makes it momentarily turn white as it scrolls. Cleartype helps but everything else still has that slight fuzzy feel. The USB hub is only kinda usable imo, anything plugged into the hub restarts when the monitor comes out of sleep (on hdmi) (it's like the monitor turns off then back on when it does). This is more of a nitpick since i can just switch types of devices plugged into it so it doesn't matter BUT that is the reason your windows may not be in the right location after coming back from sleep mode. With using a PS5 the ghosting/smudging motion causes may cause you to not like the screen long term. I thought it wouldn't bother me because i'm not really a "monitor snob" (heck i'm planning on switching to an edge lit 38 inch ips), but when i compared it to my 27 inch 144hz ips from 3 years ago i was AMAZED at how bad that was. I was expecting to just go "oh it'll not be as bad as reviewers make it out" and instead i went "holy shit how is it that bad" Not saying it is all bad though, i love the fact that i can essentially single screen use this with about 6 functional windows being usable at once. Watching video even in SDR is really nice for me personally, I watched a couple TV shows on it using the built in speakers and I liked it. The price is low enough that even with everything i said above it is REALLY hard for me to take it back next week (though 42 inch i feel is just a little bigger than i'm liking). But a lot of that would be the same with almost any other large format monitor too (except price). Value wise for $500 it has a lot of value, but personally the downsides were enough to make me consider paying more for something later.
I had no idea how the quality would fair going from a 27" to a 43" gotta say it's pretty amazing overall. I've noticed a few small issues, ghosting with lower res games, mild contrast issues that were easily corrected by making a few adjustments & Slight response time issues with call of duty when I'm running & gunning all over the map.(mild and not all the time) So the pros are the image quality and colors are absolutely stunning for this monitor not being OLED. You can adjust settings to make it look so close to an OLED display it's very impressive. Larger screen has been a surprisingly welcomed addition, hits a perfect middle ground between TV and monitor. Menu is fast and responsive, built in speakers sound great! The back of the monitor has a very nice glossy white finish, goes perfect with my PS5 Pro. Which if you plan to use this monitor for console, it checks all the boxes, VRR, ALLM, 2.1 HDMI, runs console beautifully. Runs 120hz effortlessly. I would recommend if you game on a small monitor & would like a larger display, it works Perfectly for gaming. Overall 8.5 amazing monitor.
@@LegacyRap7777 I like to buy quality things so I don't regret it later, I don't think the neo g7 is bad, but the quality of the oled is undeniable, mainly due to its high contrast. I got the ps5 pro and wanted to pair it with something decent. I know the VA's blacks are decent and the neo g7's cores look very attractive, but I still lag behind with some negatives. As for example it is not compatible with g-sync, I have a 4070 ti and I also play some things on the PC (mostly single player). But tell me, are you happy with it?
@tiagoandre7464 short answer is yes I'm very happy with the neo g7, I've grown to appreciate the larger screen size and my games look amazing, but it's not always perfect, there's ghosting present in some of my games, which I'm not a fan of, but it's never too much where it ruins games for me. Also got my PS5 pro hooked up to it and it does it justice very well, the neo g7 has a game mode where you can adjust many settings to get a very bold color and contrast that looks so good. However, if you're after the absolute best picture there's no denying the OLED display, if that LG has your eye and you know it runs games very well and checks all the boxes, then treat yourself man, see if you can catch a good deal on that LG for the holidays
Hello, did you tried latest firmware? Maybe is improving something, but is not stated by Samsung the changelog. I am looking at this one to move from a Huawei gt34, at a price of 600euros.
I'm still watching the video but asking before I forget in case it's not touched on... how does TEXT look on this thing for Windows / Productivity use, I do a lot of graphic design and working with typography, I just bought a 48" LG C3 but already considering returning it because it doesn't do well with text and the aliasing I see on some graphics/icons/etc. bugs the hell out of me @ 4K resolution because it's on my desk and I sit pretty close to my displays. Wondering if this truly handles text look a good quality monitor and not like a TV, even most TVs with Chroma 4:4:4 capabilities still screw up text. I really wanted to find an 8K display under 60" but I think those days are long gone lol.
I've used a Samsung VA panel (49" 5120x1440, CRG9) for almost 3 years now, and I'm definitely a "hardcore" PC gamer (RTX 4090, i9 13900K, high-end VR headset etc). The VA ghosting has never really bothered me. I was originally looking at the 48" Asus OLED panel, but it has a serious issue which has not been resolved in a whole year, meaning it likely never will, so I'm ordering one of these instead. Hopefully any glaring issues will present themselves within the return window. I never wanted to buy another Samsung monitor, but once again it's the only brand that fits my wanted specs, since Asus came up short on theirs. I strongly dislike the TV-styled menu, but from experience I know that I hardly ever touch the menu on a monitor once I have it set up, so it would be foolish to disregard the monitor because of that.
My SDR settings video comes out later today and that’ll help you make this look much better. Out of the box it doesn’t look good. The G9 doesn’t have as much ghosting as this but my settings help it out a little bit on the visual side of the ghosting.
@@1UpNerdcore Hmm, appreciate the heads up. I can easily return the monitor if it comes to that, but then I'll have to just continue to live with the CRG9, which I am getting sick of at this point. Will check out your settings when I get the monitor.
I was worried about buying this monitor because of it's cheap price and the fact that it isn't an oled (also, the picture quality looks terrible out of the box until you tune it correctly), but after buying two OLEDs in the past (c9 and c1) I think this is better as a PC monitor because I don't have to worry about burn in or annoying features like dimming and pixel refresh to prevent it. My c1 was a pc monitor for 2 and 1/2 years and has several game huds burned into the screen, but this samsung monitor is brighter and has a slightly higher refresh rate which is noticeable in games (144 instead of 120hz). Plus it can display black very well. Thanks for the videos you made on this monitor because it helped out a lot and I'm glad I didn't buy an oled this time.
I just recently got it. Out of the box the image sucks but once you mess with the settings it looks really good. I can post my settings for it later if you’d like. But some settings I tweaked through nvidia control app.
Has any of you have experience with this? Im not a gamer. Im looking in to this strictly for productivity while making music and maybe video editing. So any information will be appreciated
Thank you for the review. I am looking at buying this monitor from Newegg. It is right now at 599 which I think is a pretty good price. $400 off of $1,000 monitor. I am coming from 1080p 34 inch 144 Hertz monitor and this will be my first 4K monitor. Do you think I will be happy with it since I have nothing else to compare it to? The new egg deal is on until the 30th of November. Just interested in your opinion. Thank you again, thank you for the review
Daily use is fine but not a big draw for the monitor. Text clarity is decent but given the size you’ll need to increase the size and potentially run clear type.
This certainly isn't a bad monitor, IF sold at the right price point. And 1k isn't it. I think you identify the right market for this monitor (multi-use "ok at everything"). I cannot understand why it gets the "Neo" branding though. It is a "monitorized TV". Neo is samsung's premium monitor line. I really wish (really really really REALLY wish) that this was just a flat, 43" version of the 32" Neo G7 ("take my money please!") ...but it's not.
I bought one. The ghosting is... quite frankly insane. My first gen 34" feels much better than this. Which is a shame. By far the biggest negative. Text clarity is OK but not great. Speakers are fine, more TV-like than PC monitor. Since this is basically a bastardized TV, my old Samsung TV has way better remote and the interface is faster on the TV. (TV cost about the same as the Neo G7 5+ years ago). Available settings are OK. Build Quality is much more in line with TV than their other crap monitors. Base is stable etc. Positive. I seriously doubt this has 1000+ dimming zones. I read somewhere that it's ~400-500 but I cant find the source. You'll need to keep the monitor *very* far back to enjoy it properly. Overlooked this one myself. The 32" Neo G7 slaps this one so fucking hard for gaming and text clarity, but I cannot live with the curve of that one. I paid ~$900 on sale. For $600 this is a great buy as an all round monitor but it's mediocre at everything except speakers compared to other alternatives.
Nice review thanks. Question: once you eventually find the right settings could you keep them across console, desktop etc or did you have to change again when changing inputs?
This is a great monitor. I use it with a 6950xt gpu and 5900x cpu, Xbox series x, and Nintendo switch. It does a great job with all 3, comparable response times and input lag compared to my 28 inch monitor. Bang for buck this is an unbeatable deal at less than $500
I saw your section showing Destiny 2... is it visually as bad as it shows? Is it better with HDR turned on? Thinking about buying this monitor because my Samsung G5 crapped out, but Destiny 2 is the main game I play, sooo just wanted an honest yes/no... and if I should keep looking. I would also be using this as a PC monitor for work as well.
Depends on the person as to whether they think it looks bad or not. I thought it looked just fine when I played but it won’t compete with an OLED. If you want the best visual quality and you have the budget for it go OLED
I haven’t used the inzone so I can’t speak on it but it will come down to the response time and how much either would have ghosting that you can noticeably see
@@1UpNerdcoreI just bought this monitor on sale at Best Buy for 500 off. I’ve got to say though I can’t tell much of a difference in games though compared to my old Dell. Maybe I’m blind to the changes
Hey how does this monitor handle reflections? I have a window behind me. My current screen doesn't handle reflections well so this is a must fort next purchase
I purchased it at $380 which is not a bad deal but I still returned it. The ghosting is so terrible even when I played NS game like Splatoon 3 or Monster Hunter Rise. No any setting and parameter adjustment can fix the ghosting and motion blur. The LED clear motion function can eliminate the ghosting, but will lead to strong flickering. This monitor is simply just a TV with really weak ability to dealing with gaming, especially for fast-moving action or shooter games even like Splatoon which only requires 60Hz to go smoothly.
If your laptop has an HDMI output, then yes. Just be aware that if your laptop's screen is 1080p or 1440p and you use the G7 at 4k, you'll take a nasty performance hit due to your GPU rendering at a higher resolution. If you set the G7 at the same resolution as your laptop's screen, then you shouldn't see a performance hit.
@@henryestrada1375 No problem. I'm thinking about picking one up for prime day and making a small home movie/gaming theater with it. It's at a perfect price right now to also get a decent recliner, blackout window blinds and a TV stand all for under $1000.
Just ran into your channel because I just purchased this monitor on sale for 560... I would say it's a fantastic deal but you are right, out the box I was really disappointed with the presets. It was no competition for my Sony InZone M9... my PlayStation 5 looked amazing out the box with that monitor. I have since got it close to it but no cigar... looking forward to your settings
I see that you use govee dreamview g1 pro on a 42 inch monitor, is the back led strip good on such a large monitor? I know that the recommended size is a maximum of 34 inches. Thank you
@@1UpNerdcoreyeah sorry I didn't hear that I mostly hear at fast speed (...) but what do you mean when you say : you have to run.. a clear type ?The thing I know is that until now all the 43 "inch panels have mediocre or bad text clarity I guess that's one more on the list..
Outstanding review! Thank you so much for the details. I actually bought 2 of these. Love it for everything that I plan to use for it, not just for 1 purpose.
I know that can happen but running 144hz and 165on all my other monitors and it’s only happening with this which is why I believe it’s due to overlocking which I’ve recorded with previous monitors even at 120hz which shouldn’t have an issue.
@@1UpNerdcore Oh, okay. My apologies. I see this often in videos with any LED light source (when it is due to shutter speed mismatch). How is the PPI on 43inch 4k monitors? Because I've been more and more interested in one, but like when Windows is really small and really sharp.
With a 50 dollar difference, is better to buy this option instead of a Samsung QLED 43" Q65B? I will use it as a monitor for work, play in a Xbox Series X and as a TV, I don´t know if I prefer a OLED or the 120hz
It’s a large workspace which is nice but 4k at this size means a smaller pixel density compared to 4k at 32 or 27 inches so text at 100% looks more pixelated than those monitors. I think it looks fine it just depends on the person though.
i wanna buy for my xbox series x and ps5 im super excited i built an entire second set up dedicated to my consoles and and dual monitor set up for my gaming pc and stresming
I got a question for the Protective film that's on the screen that you can peel it off. Do you take that off. Bc I have seen Samsung tv get broken when they peel it off. Is it safe with this one?
I would like to see more of these monitor reviews touch upon the productivity side of things...... how does text look in Microsoft Word or Excel? I'm not a gamer, but I want a nice big screen, great text clarity, and a wide variety of connectivity options that are often only found in higher-end monitors. I would assume many people, such as myself, will have a single PC they use for gaming & productivity. It is very unfortunate that almost all reviews only focus on gaming. I still appreciate the information. This is one of a few monitors on my list of 38 to 43 inch monitors...... ASUS ROG 38", Dell UltraSharp, and this one are my top three so far. All 16:9 as I'm not really impressed with the widescreens/curved for productivity. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise.
31:53 I talk about text clarity which would be applicable for word or excel. You don’t need a reviewer to tell you much on this though. If you find out the pixel density you can generally have a good idea of how text will look for IPS and VA panels. Higher density the better. For OLEDs the sub pixel layout will matter more and most have the potential for text fringing.
@@1UpNerdcore : My point is..... show it. It is always talking about gaming. Blah blah blah. People do other things besides play games..... or at least, productive people do. :)
I have a beast of a pc but have only had 60hz 1080p monitor for it, I’ve been looking to upgrade but I wouldn’t use all the tv and console features, should I find a different monitor that fits that better?
@@1UpNerdcore Understood thanks for informing me about it brother, I have another question if you don't mind, how blurry does the screen get when you move the in-game camera compared to OLED, I have heard many OLED users who complain about motion clarity without using any features like black frame insertion to reduce motion blur. Is the blur really that noticable? Thank you.
@@1UpNerdcore thanks! Wanted to make sure I make the right choice here, The 43in having speakers is a plus. Just making sure the video quality and everything won’t be a huge difference
Very useful review, thank you. Super grateful for showing the 21:9 aspect ratio option, because I'm in dilemma, and I'm actully thinking about buying this monitor as a "2 in 1" option. In some games I would prefer 21:9 1440p expereince, and sometimes 4k 16:9. The screen size is definately big enough for work (using CAD softwares). So this monitor seems like a good alternative for all my needs on a pretty good quality. I'm also thinking about 32 inch IPS version, but I'm affraid that 32 inch is not big enough for proper ultrawide experience.
I got this for $425 yesterday directly from Samsung. If you chat with someone on their website let them know you want to buy this monitor and let them know you have had a Samsung product of their in the past. I genuinely do still have one of their plasma tv (RIP plasma the most underrated tv tech ever). Also if you are a student or a teacher you can get this discount as well. Once I got the 10% off code I went to the app and ordered it off of there where you are given $25 off for using the app and buying something over $250. So that’s how I got this epic price for this monitor. Hopefully Samsung shipping is fast, can’t wait to get my hands on this monitor.
Thank you very much for this comment. Had basically decided to buy the monitor because of the sale price and hopped on TH-cam to make sure there weren’t any glaring problems with it. You saved me an additional $50.

Samsung's TV and monitor speakers are unbelievable
I am soooo happy with mine. Granted its my first 4k monitor but holy crap is this thing amazing IMO. The weird thing about this monitor is you see smear and ghosting with the UFO test, and your mouse cursor in windows has some ghosting and some black smear if you move it quickly....but in practise, playing games?...its fantastic.
Great review 👍🏻- chapters would be nice
Usually TH-cam does that for you with most videos but I’ll see if I can edit them myself
I lowkey got triggered because its so basic knowledge to anyone who ever worked with cameras before xd
I understand that but 90% of the monitors I review are 144hz and they don’t strobe when recording outside of those that achieve it via overclocking. Those that do are overlocking and VA panels so to me it has more to do with that.
Solid review. I usually have to watch 3-4 different videos to get all the info I need but not here. Great work.
Thank you 🙏🏼

My Microcenter had this thing at 449. I couldn’t resist any longer!

Asus 42inch OLED
@@1UpNerdcore thanks
Great review! One thing to keep in mind when always comparing these with OLEDs, is the size and the market. Not everybody buys this for gaming only
I work on these kind of monitors for a good couple of years and usually I focus on some part of the screen while the other is static...
Thank you so much for the review. I actually made a purchase on Amazon and waiting for it to see it in action.

Cheers!

What monitor would you recommend instead of this one? I`m seriously considering the LG C2? I think it was.
if you want c2 buy it asap, c3 coming and going to be expensive than c3
The LG C2 if you want this size would be a good option
Only drawbacks with C2 for me are possible burn-in and not able to disable local dimming (only from service menu, which voids guarantee). Local dimming has been fixed in C3 and possibly some burn-in tech has been also added.

Just bought this on sale, can’t wait to unbox it
suggest unboxing quickly, i ran into a lot of issues that I think are "as designed" with this product that has made me decide to return it before my 30 days is up.
I was expecting to just go "oh it'll not be as bad as reviewers make it out" and instead i went "holy shit how is it that bad"
Not saying it is all bad though, i love the fact that i can essentially single screen use this with about 6 functional windows being usable at once.
Great video can you change resolution of the mointor when playing games if you’re Gpu can’t handle 4K?
Yes 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore thanks , will need to change to 1440p
I had no idea how the quality would fair going from a 27" to a 43" gotta say it's pretty amazing overall.
I've noticed a few small issues, ghosting with lower res games, mild contrast issues that were easily corrected by making a few adjustments &
Slight response time issues with call of duty when I'm running & gunning all over the map.(mild and not all the time)
So the pros are the image quality and colors are absolutely stunning for this monitor not being OLED.
I'm in doubt between this or the LG C4 OLED, remembering that the C4 TV costs twice as much... I don't know, I'm really in doubt...
@tiagoandre7464 LG C4 OLED is 3x as much, the neo g7 43 is still on sale for $500
What are your main concerns about the neo g7?

If you do high end work then this won’t suit your needs with text clarity
Happy I watched this vid. Thinking of getting the AORUS 43 inch instead

I would also be using this as a PC monitor for work as well.
Depends on the person as to whether they think it looks bad or not. I thought it looked just fine when I played but it won’t compete with an OLED. If you want the best visual quality and you have the budget for it go OLED
is there any issue, if I use it for productivity.

It’s a matte finish so it’s okay but if the reflection is glaring then you’ll notice regardless of the screen
Will my 7800xt be able to run this? Or should i get the Asus TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B 34.0" 3440 x 1440 165 Hz Curved Monitor
It should be able to run this
Can I use it to connect it with my alienware gaming laptop?
My screen right now is 17.5 but this will be better I guess.

Thanks! Appreciate the help
I’ve this monitor, since it has mini-led and quantum matrix it should be high-end.
@@dreadwing1816 can I setup my cable box to it and watch tv on it?
I see that you use govee dreamview g1 pro on a 42 inch monitor, is the back led strip good on such a large monitor? I know that the recommended size is a maximum of 34 inches. Thank you
Mines attached to the desk since I swap out monitors to review them so often

Where can I find the settings to get the best picture for console gaming at ??
The video is on my channel
Nice review but you didn t say something about the text clarity..
I do, if you’d watch the full video I cover that at 31:52
@@1UpNerdcoreyeah sorry I didn't hear that I mostly hear at fast speed (...) but what do you mean when you say : you have to run.. a clear type ?The thing I know is that until now all the 43 "inch panels have mediocre or bad text clarity I guess that's one more on the list..
Outstanding review! Thank you so much for the details. I actually bought 2 of these. Love it for everything that I plan to use for it, not just for 1 purpose.
How are you liking it ?
is a 100x100 vesa good for this monitor?
How long is the DP cable?
480 with student discount on Samsungs website, is the ghosting that bad? I mainly play warzone 2 and destiny 2
You’ll notice it for sure, with a deal though how much will you care is the question
@@1UpNerdcore thanks for the response, how would you compare against the Aorus FV43U?
What game is this at 29:51? Farcry?
Yes 👍🏻
Does the monitor get blurry when you enable vrr? I have a Sony TV and the picture gets blurry when I enable vrr
I didn’t notice any when I tested it
The strobing happens because of your shutter speed while filming, it doesn't have anything to do with the monitor.
I would take 120hz over 60 almost every time
How it works for professional use, programing, production?
How are small fonts on 100% scaling?
It’s a large workspace which is nice but 4k at this size means a smaller pixel density compared to 4k at 32 or 27 inches so text at 100% looks more pixelated than those monitors. I think it looks fine it just depends on the person though.
@@1UpNerdcore is it rgb sub pixel layout? like a real monitor or is it actually at tv panel?
I would assume it’s BGR, I can’t find any info though
i wanna buy for my xbox series x and ps5 im super excited i built an entire second set up dedicated to my consoles and and dual monitor set up for my gaming pc and stresming
Hey bro did you test it because I have both as well and that’s what I wanna run on it and I’m trying to find out if it looks good on both.
I got a question for the Protective film that's on the screen that you can peel it off. Do you take that off. Bc I have seen Samsung tv get broken when they peel it off. Is it safe with this one?
I wouldn’t attempt to do that with this monitor

I literally show it at that time stamp for text clarity. My point is that’s all relative to pixel density, sub pixel layout and how you scale text…
They make specific productivity monitors by the way. Get one of those.
Is Oled is the only choise to havent ghosting? Or may be some ips?
Oleds will have the fastest response times but there are good 1ms GtG IPS and VA panels out there
@@1UpNerdcore Do you know that ips va models?
I have a beast of a pc but have only had 60hz 1080p monitor for it, I’ve been looking to upgrade but I wouldn’t use all the tv and console features, should I find a different monitor that fits that better?
If you don’t need the size or features I would get something else
On sale $500 right now ACK!
Hello brother, how good is motion clarity on this monitor?
I cover ghosting in the video 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore Understood thanks for informing me about it brother, I have another question if you don't mind, how blurry does the screen get when you move the in-game camera compared to OLED, I have heard many OLED users who complain about motion clarity without using any features like black frame insertion to reduce motion blur.
Is the blur really that noticable?
Thank you.
These look better than Oled?
No
is this good for photo editing?
If you don’t mind spending time calibrating it it could be
Would this be really good for video editing as well?
It’s good for that, personally I’d take an ultrawide or super ultrawide for video editing though. More horizontal space.
Just ordered the 32in neo G7 then saw this is on sale, should I cancel and get this? I game on Xbox series x.
It’ll be fine for consoles. It’s basically a TV so similar performance if you’ve been gaming on a TV
Yea the 32 will feel to small. If you have the budget the Ark is another option.
@@1UpNerdcore Thanks for your response. Arks are waaaay out of my budget unfortunately. :)
did you have black frame insertion on when you did the ufo test?
No overdrive or MPRT modes were turned on.
@@1UpNerdcore I didn't ask that...I'm asking if black frame insertion is being used.
That’s what an MPRT mode is 🤦🏽♂️
Would the 32inch odyssey with 240hz be a better choice for pc gaming?
Yes 👍🏻
How would this monitor compare to a same size (42"-43") OLED in text clarity for windows?
Depends on the sub pixel layout of the OLED but in general this is probably slightly better
How good are the Viewing angles
Decent because of the size
My little sound system has earc/optical/coax. Can any of these 43 monitors communicate with it?
I show the ports in the video so if it has any of those it’ll be there when I show the ports
@@SandyAndCharles good! I’m glad someone read this in time before price goes back up. I mean 500 is already a deal but getting this monitor below 500 is a steal!
