Jay Graydon here. Well done man! The guitar solo is very close as to how I played it! Nice addition of the Db b5/7 at the end of the solo to get to C Maj 7! Please Keep up recording the music of the last era when us studio cats had to play well with no digital help! Someone once said, before ProTools, there were Pros.
Hi Jay - thank you so much for getting in touch. The very essence of what we are trying to do - is to to bring the attention back to historic masterful performances, iconic solos, and musical excellence! Our sole purpose is to bring classics like this back to the forefront of popular society where it belongs and combine them with animated and illustrative media - we truly thank you for your contribution to music.
Nailed it again gents. And Steely Dan is a tough group to cover. Very tough. They always brought in the top top musicians. And still passed on many just to get the exact sound they had in their heads. I’m 65 so I’ve been around Steely Dan since day one. Starting in HS in the early 70s. So again a tough group to do a proper cover on almost any of their songs. My favorite was always Aja. With the Gadd drum solo. My friend has played with Gadd. My buddy is a Congas and Timbales player and sings.
This is really good! Love how you guys are so true to the original, while also adding "original" bits yourselves. Would love to see even more of these performances in the future
So here's the thing...as it started I thought, "PFFT! he ain't no Donald Fagan!" But who the hell is!? His vocals along with that INCREDIBLE BAND! Dammit that band is the SHIT!! So, at my next wedding, I want these mother f'ckers!!!!
You guys *killed* it ! Especially the ending - taking turns at wonderful solos while the drummer shows he knows what he's doing on the ride ! Just plain awesome.
I like those little add-in chords from the original thrown in there once in a while--like that Vannelli-ish C7#9#11 right after the guitar solo before returning to the verse. Good stuff!
I just found this band today, and I can't even start to say how impressed I am with their broad-spectrum talent and reworks of such classic songs. I'm in Heaven.
Wow you did it again, still amazed by how it sounds like one band although recorded separately.. Would like to hear you cover Joe Jackson’s “can’t get what you want, till you know..” would fit you right.
Just another brilliant production guys! That little extra chord between the Gsus and the Cmaj7 from verse 1 to 2 just killed me (hope I got those chords right;-).Next? How about Caves of Altamira?

Jay. I think it would be a great idea for a Jay Graydon guest solo on a future “Songs I Want To Play” future production! It would be truly epic!
See that? I picked out that tasty chord at the end of the guitar solo before Jay Graydon did ;-)

Fantastic rendition - well done! I believe this is the first band you’ve done two songs for. Nice job gents.
Truly is a fantastic rendition! Would love to hear them cover "FM" if they haven't already. No static at all...

Cheers Scott. And you are indeed spot on with the chords too. That cheeky little addition is a Db7#9#11 if you're interested!
Pro ~ Tools….?
