i had a 15 foot , 1959 glassbar, fiberglass on wood boat , with a 1962 evinrude lark engine , so the lil windshield and steering wheel , like that , named her "Taobnikcufecin" and i loved that freakin boat , ran her in 3 different states , oh plus confusion , so 4 count em 4 states and had massive future plans for her , was gonna put on oar locks , an adjustable removable keel and sail ... but i started taking care of someone else's family , needed the parking space at the apt and i couldn't even give her away ... broke my heart ... oh and one time we were at the end of the harbor , so open ocean and the spark plug fouled , after already havin been out a couple hours soo ... so no hurry to try and clean the plug , so we were drifting back in the harbor slowly and i wanted to speed up the process , so i put a kids kite on the end of the fishin pole and let out a good hundred yards and the wind was goin the right way and we made it back to the dock ... so everyone who says , the best daze of boat ownership are the first and last , i call bull , the best daze were all the adventures in between
Make sure to rebuild your hubs on the boat trailer, i was a first time old boat purchaser last year. I had to air arc the old beat up spindle out and cut the suspension entirely off my trailer. Have fun!
Replace fuel tank, install fuel pump, replace wood parts with new wood, clean up and tune up engine... job done. It'll run reliably for another 50+ years as long as you maintain it. :-)
BOAT: A hole in the water, surrounded by aluminum (and Ope's), into which one pours money. Have fun with that there, Charlie, and don't hit any dear with it.
Just bought my first boat 3 weeks ago...got a new (showroom) 2019 23 ft. Carolina Skiff 238 DLV With a 2020 150 HP Suzuki 4-stroke outboard and twin Powerpoles (Powerpole Pro XL’s) and a 2018 Minn Kota Riptide XR remote Trolling Motor It has a soft black t-top that I may add a hard top to eventually. But it can do anything from shallow backwater inshore fishing to going miles offshore on a calmer day to troll for King, mahi, wahoo, etc. it’s the DLV model with the semi-v hull, not the flat bottom so it handles smaller swells much better, much better than you’d think. I Live on topsail Island on The southern coast of NC...about 45 mins north of Wilmington. So I only do saltwater fishing and those 21-24 ft. DLVs are very popular around hear. Like I said I can fish for flounder or redfish in just a couple feet of water, run far back in shallow marsh channels looking for some deeper holes holding some speckled trout, troll the waterway, inlet and right off the beach for bluefish & Spanish Mackeral or even go far offshore for Benito, Kings and other big game pelagic fish. I’ve already been out 3 times since I got it...7 miles, 9 miles then 15 miles 5 days ago. On calm days like those I can go basically as far out as I have the time and gas to go. I got to 15 miles offshore quick and spent over 4 hours trolling the area for King Mackeral (hooked 4 and caught 3, including a 42 pounder). The weather will be tough for the next week or so...but after that I’m going to pick a day to try for 23 miles offshore where a well known shipwreck is that fish love. I’m sure I can get there just as easily. My dad has a 2012 25 ft. Grady White Fisherman 252 CC w/ twin 2013 150 HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboards and state of the art electronics/outriggers/equipment. It’s just over 25 ft. Long and feels bigger inside than it looks. I miss having those outriggers, my electronics aren’t quite as high end & obviously having two motors gives you much more piece of mind going offshore. He takes that boat all the way to the gulf stream (around a 3 hour ride, longer in rougher seas) and goes to Ocracoke Island twice a year for the Grady White Offshore tournament...he’s finished top 10 5 times and won twice in 2014 & 2017. In 1-2 more years he’s talking about getting either a new 30 ft. Grady White 305 Canyon with twin 300 HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboards or a new 33 ft. Pursuit 334 CC Xtra wide console with twin 350 HP Yamaha Outboard 4-strokes. He loves Gradys but the Pursuit is around the same price for a 2+ ft. Bigger boat with a nicer CC setup and a bit more interior fishing room. The Grady canyon is sick still though. Both of them are huge CCs at 30+ Ft & 33+ ft....much bigger than what he’s had for years. I love those 350 HP V-8s by Yamaha I’d love to drive a 33 footer with two of those babies on the back. 700 Horses is plenty for that boat...even though I think it will handle up to 900 Horses. So the most popular engine options are either twin 350s or triple 300’s. The base model comes with twin 300 HP Mercury Outbords.
"like taking a baby home from the hospital" I hear you. That's why my MG's name is Baby. I love the audience at the bar watching you back up. Also I remember my brother trying to use the fishing line to get his underwear off the clothesline, from his bedroom window, so he could get dressed for school.
You know back in my younger days I would spend hours polishing up the old Johnson but how that I am in my sixties not so much anymore, couple of minutes a week and good to go.😇
I agree wholeheartedly so proud of myself for getting a real boat,, using it for 10 years tho!! But in the end, it was more than I could do .. Old age sucks!!
Boaring storytime. We were on our way to the boat launch with a 25 foot cabin cruiser when the car stalls. We recover, and make it to the launch. When the boat is halfway down the ramp, we realize that the straps are still on. After getting out of the car to fix it, the car stalls again, and we take up a whole lane of the launch for half an hour waiting for a tow truck on a Friday night. Fun times
Need to add.... trying to go to a new fishing spot, but you forgot the anchor that was in the water..... oops. Not that I am speaking from experience or anything..... and add that priceless moment when you're driving away and you check your rear view only to see your boat driving away from your truck. Is it possible to drive down the highway and be passed by your own boat? 🤔🤣

i had a 15 foot , 1959 glassbar, fiberglass on wood boat , with a 1962 evinrude lark engine , so the lil windshield and steering wheel , like that , named her "Taobnikcufecin" and i loved that freakin boat , ran her in 3 different states , oh plus confusion , so 4 count em 4 states and had massive future plans for her , was gonna put on oar locks , an adjustable removable keel and sail ... but i started taking care of someone else's family , needed the parking space at the apt and i couldn't even give her away ... broke my heart ... oh and one time we were at the end of the harbor , so open ocean and the spark plug fouled , after already havin been out a couple hours soo ... so no hurry to try and clean the plug , so we were drifting back in the harbor slowly and i wanted to speed up the process , so i put a kids kite on the end of the fishin pole and let out a good hundred yards and the wind was goin the right way and we made it back to the dock ... so everyone who says , the best daze of boat ownership are the first and last , i call bull , the best daze were all the adventures in between
I just bought my first boat. This popped up my feed. Incredible.
Make sure to rebuild your hubs on the boat trailer, i was a first time old boat purchaser last year. I had to air arc the old beat up spindle out and cut the suspension entirely off my trailer. Have fun!
Love your editing style!
Your funny as hell man the episode was a must
I love using the launch at Boxhorn Gun Club on Muskego Lake!
You you betcha I be needing more dem vids on dat boat
At least you leave the motor down and damage the fin and the prop as you drive up the ramp. I did that
Replace fuel tank, install fuel pump, replace wood parts with new wood, clean up and tune up engine... job done. It'll run reliably for another 50+ years as long as you maintain it. :-)
Maiden voyage of my Daddy's brand new boat in1971 ,forgot to put the plug in! 2 kids bilged it out! Happy time!😊😊😊
Pure genius, this guy.
"Just like the urinals at Lambeau." Greatest line. I'm rolling.
I love this 😄 So glad my sister sent this to me 😆 😊❤❤
BOAT: A hole in the water, surrounded by aluminum (and Ope's), into which one pours money.
Have fun with that there, Charlie, and don't hit any dear with it.
If you're from the Midwest you are automatically a 🐐
I lost it at the cat meow. And most of the other jokes too. Hilarious! :)
Lol, just like the urinals at Lambeau! 😂
I sold my uncles aluminum boat to the recyclers. Got $30 bucks!
My uncle called me a dirty name...🤷🏼♀️
Awesome boat, and the best motor will ever have.
“Who put beers in battery box? Oh, me”
That’s totally a me saying
"like taking a baby home from the hospital" I hear you. That's why my MG's name is Baby. I love the audience at the bar watching you back up. Also I remember my brother trying to use the fishing line to get his underwear off the clothesline, from his bedroom window, so he could get dressed for school.
GOOD STORY!!
Nice start for the Holliday in Britain
Ya gotta love Europe: 72 official holidays every year, whether they want them or not...
"That's a real nice Johnson"
if a fellas got a nice Johnson it's the least you can do to let him know ya know or no?
@@CharlieBerens oh absolutely. Who doesn’t love a compliment of their nice Johnson?
You know back in my younger days I would spend hours polishing up the old Johnson but how that I am in my sixties not so much anymore, couple of minutes a week and good to go.😇
Too funny 😅🤣😅🤣
Thought I was the only one that caught that
Boxhorns and wind lake canal launch. I was like wow that looks familiar haha
*taps load after straps*
"Yep, that ain't goin nowhere."
Nice touch
Always gotta tap
Someone who's lived in Wisconsin his entire 34 years of life the accuracy is unmatched lmao
Melissa I think you just wrote part 2
@@CharlieBerens please film this!!🤣
The most important part of this video. If you are going out in a boat BEER is a must!
That's a nice little boat
That is a nice johnson, big and red with a dent! Reminds me of my own....
You sir, are officially an honorary Canadian.
That’s actually a nice little boat
