    This training litteraly changed my life ! When my 6 month old starts to get wild, this mat is like a magic carpet. Cooking and eating have become a breeze, he absolutely does not climb on the table or the countertop anymore. In the evening, when he is supposed to be tired (and probably is), he just wants to play and play and play... (my partner and I spend one hour each playing with him everyday). We pop out the mat and after five minutes, he forgets what he was so excited about and goes to sleep. I usually put the mat away, but can I let him sleep on it ? Thank you so very much for this 🙏

    This cat is so freaking cute!! His/her willingness to learn. The way the kitty sits and looks up at her waiting patiently. He's got the perfect big body I want to pick up in my arms and squeeze and kiss. Just so adorable 😂😘🥰💞

    This one is much better than the first video you made on this. Also I found cutting big treats in half with a pill cutter allows you to do more exercises with your cat while keeping em engaged.

    I'm even using this method to help me introduce my two cats to each other (after working with them separately). It's a gradual process and they can now have some supervised time where they can see or move around each other safely. I get them to sit on their mats, both in high places, where they can see each other. One is on a chair, and another a desk, pretty close to each other. Eventually, I would like to move them to the floor near each other and work on "sit" and "stay" even when their access to each other is easy. They seem to have learned that I take turns giving them each treats for staying on the mats, so they are not likely to run for the other's treat like they used to.

    It's strange, I just started this today and my 6 month old kitten whom I got off the street as a baby and is still a little bit feral took to this like a duck on water. I've already folded the blanket twice and he gets right on it as soon as I lay it in front of me.
    My 1 and a half year old cat, however, is not having it. He's actually very calm, friendly, and comes whenever we call him in from outside (even though we never trained him to do this), yet as soon as I lay the blanket down, even if I put a treat or two on it, he staunchly refuses to get on it. He even deliberately tried to walk around the blanket when I covered the exit from a room with it, lol.

      You can get dry cat treats and use a pill cutter to cut them in half. This is what I do. It really helps do multiple excerices without over feeding your cat. I use Greenies Chicken Flavor Dental Cat Treats.

    Love your videos. I used clicker training to help build up confidence in my cat. When we adopted a second scaredy cat it really helped him get confortable with me. He would see our older cat getting treats and he approached me to do the same right away ! I was wondering how you could teach them to stay on their mats and not go eat the treats on the other cat’s mat ? They are greedy hah

      Are you referring to the mat with grass-like strands? That's called a snuffle mat, and you can get one on our website: catschool.co. It is a useful tool to help prevent vocalizing while doing food prep.

    @Cat school, I have a 4 year old Blue who I’ve been working with the clicker and treats as shown in some of your videos (toss treat, come, click, etc..) nope not him lol he’s a spoiled brat lol idk what I’m doing with training as he looks at me like “you’re giving me my treat anyway servant” lol... Any advice?

    • @3L151UM
      @3L151UM 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Be persistent and don't let him win :) start with just clicking and getting him used to the sound, that it means "treat". Then you should be able to start with the first trick. I always start with sit, because I think it's useful AND easy, but do as you like. If he doesn't do what you want, ignore him/don't give him a treat and walk away and under NO circumstances click or praise/talk to him affectionate, that would be a mistake. That's what I do and it helped every time, I hope it does you, too :)

      It's hard to answer without knowing what/how you are feeding your cat - are you leaving your cat's food out all day? This is a food motivation issue. It's like asking someone to go to work when the paycheck isn't high enough. We need the value of the food to match the job description.

    do you have any advice for doing this with wet food on a spoon? my cat has GI issues that make it so that she has a harder time digesting dry food-i can usually give her about 2 treats at a time, but any more than that and she throws it all up later. in the video you threw a second treat off to the distance in order to get jones off of the mat, but i can't do that with wet food unless im trying to make a big mess 😅 any advice is appreciated!

    Please teach cat to jump

    • @amindamani7215
      @amindamani7215 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can gradually make them jump by presenting the treat at different levels above the ground. starting off with 1inch above him and then 2inches, 3,4,5 until he finally starts standing up and then continue until he is jumping. Make a hand gesture with the treat hand to signal the jump but only after he starts jumping.
