This is my favorite kind of video. Watching as you figure out how the Airstream cabinets are installed and exposing the bare wood floor after flooding has been my biggest Airstream nightmare. Keep-up the good work.👍
Thanks for watching! We're glad you are enjoying the adventure! We were equally surprised that the cabinets are still in such great shape. Happy Trails! ~Shanna & Andrew
I'm totally fascinated by what ya'll are doing with this salvaged Airstream; I've already learned so much! Yes, love your videos, and don't be afraid to go longer! Keep it coming!
"This is also our trailer, I'm just not used to it" 🤣 Best line. It hasn't quite sunk in yet...... Bleach is not the best product for this. Jim HIGHLY recommends an anti microbial agent such as Benefect. Bleach just makes the mold spores go into hiding. It does not kill them. He worked in water mitigation for 5 years. Benefect is also non-toxic! Walking the beach is great exercise. The trash can cut out is a perfect head rest. LOL. We learn so much from you guys!! -Jim & Michelle
We will look into buying Benefect. Thanks for the tip. We are going to need to unfasten and get behind the furniture to clean deeper, open up some walls and check wiring after the initial dry out. That might be a great time to use a mold remediation product. Belly pans will need dropping and some rust and mold treatments will need to be deployed there too. It is all an unplanned adventure.🤣🤣 A major priority for us, after we remove the bulk of the wet, is to sell the other trailer. It will be quite the juggling act. ~Shanna and Andrew
I too am fascinated by all this. The plywood floor looks to be in great shape. You probably will be just fine with it, maybe a few squeaks here and there. What surprises me is the wood furniture did not bloat and warp. It looks like Airstream does not use particle board as that would have swelled. The furniture looks great. You’ve got a $100k rig for $25k. If the furnace still works you should be in great shape. Although, the underbelly probably should come off and the insulation replaced. Maybe a coat of rust preventive paint on the frame while it is all open. Are you running a dehumidifier in there?
We have been pleasantly surprised with how well things are going. It could have been much worse. The underbelly and exploring some wall skins are definitely going to be happening eventually. Once we get the bulk of the rig dry, we will really need to get the 2006 Safari Sleep 6 sold so we can dig in deeper on the Tommy Bahama. We have been using the trailer AC units, a space heater and the fancy hatch door and windows for ventilation to move air through the Airstream. So far, so good. ~Shanna & Andrew
The Airstream shows signs of salt exposure but the actual flooding was fresh water. We have gotten very lucky so far with this unplanned trailer buy. ~Andrew and Shanna

I used that wasted space behind slide out pantry to make a coffee cubby in our 27 FC Custom. I would be happy share what I did if interested.

I want to reiterate that those truckers dont give a care hahaha
Lol. They likely couldn't hear us over the traffic let alone all the engines. Thanks for watching! ~Andrew
Do you know if the flooded water was fresh water or saltwater?
Would also suggest something along the lines of deoxit contact cleaner and corrosion X
You guys are doing a great job with this project
