I'm 52 and in 1985 or 1986 my dad bought me a GT Pro Performer. Lately I have a huge urge to get another. Seeing all you guys that I looked up to makes my day. It's funny that before internet, I relied on Freestylin' magazine. I got one every month at my local grocery store. I rode my bike for about a year but traded it for a dirt bike. Hearing about GT going out kills me. I wish the prices were not crazy on the vintage bikes cause I'd get one. I'm pretty sure that I could ride about 500 feet before falling over and having a heart attack but it would be worth it. Lol. It actually sounds like a good way to get some exercise and I could use that.
Eddie and Dave were a couple of my very first inspirations when I got into BMX freestyle in 1986. Nowadays I pretty much stick to flatland, but at 51 years old, falling off the bike is easier than falling out of the sky. Fo sho.
Yep, It would be cool if Eddie and some of the OG riders could buy the GT/Dyno name and bring it back. There are still a few old bmx manufacturers around from the 80s. SE, Haro, Redline, Torker, Skyway Wheels and Walmart Mongooses. SE is still strong and other then racing it's a big wheel wheelie bike for ride outs. Haro is still in the bmx game with racing, freestyle and retro. I think Dave Mirria saved Haro in the late 90s early 2000s and the Xgames also back in the day. Redline today I think is mostly racing bikes. They might have some freestyle bikes but I think of Redline as building Olympic Bmx race type bikes. Torker was bought by Supercross and I think that's good to see them come back by an American Manufacturer. Skyway is still making bmx wheels today in 20" and 24" but no frames other then replicas from Australia. I just recently got a set of black 24" Skyways from Planet Bmx for a build I was working on. Mongoose sold out decades ago and became a Walmart low cost bike for kids. Alot of the great 1980s bmx manufacturers today, if they are still around, are made in China sweat shops by 11 year olds. Sadly not much is made in America today. I try to support made in the USA when I can even if it's just a Bmx dealer.
Voelker went to an old school bmx 6:04 reunion in Torreón Coahuila México, most of us only saw him on magazines back in the day,it was awesome to have him here as a special guest,he Even was arrested for drinking on a public park😂and they released him after 10 minutes he was saved by the organizers,a true bmx rebel, thanks man you rock!
Man, love both you guys and always have a friend in me. Now I am actually going watch the video! Thanks for the xmas gift :) -Rocky #18 p.s. people are already well bummed out about the modern GT parts that are ceasing to exist now. SHOUTOUT KOLE!
Hey I'm a 42 year old BMX rider who still has the dream of being sponsored so let me know if you are interested in looking for "new" riders if you get GT back.... I have a similar back story growing up in the 80s and 90s riding the old style of frame, I think it was a Redline Predator or something like that and it was a red and white bike w/ mag rims, a roller seat, locking brakes and fork mounted pegs and I rode that till a friend gave me a newer street frame in the mid 90s and I never went back. Seeing commercials w/ BMX, the bike scene from ET when they was jumping down the hills and Rad plus Evel Knievel made me want to be a stuntman forever but I ended up riding BMX (and still do) but I think I made the right choice... Riding BMX has taught me so much and I don't regret a single part, OK maybe some crashes I do regret but the rest was awesome. 😁👍😂
For me personally, this is like when hulk meets Thor. My favourite old school rider and my favourite mid school rider…my performer and my voelker dyno are my favourite bikes ❤️🤙🏻
Wow, that BMX Plus cover was 1991. That was really late in the BMX scene. Rad was short for radical. A lot of people even said radical instead (in the 80's). I don't remember anyone back in the day ever seeing or talking about RAD. I still haven't seen it.

Dave is the epitome of “go big or go home”. Always will be, in my book. Eddie is just the King. Stay rad, my dudes! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Nice first-gen Impreza behind you @eddiefiola!
I still have my 89 GT Pro Performer. I would love to buy another new one with Eddie, & Dave as owners. Oh yeah, Martin as the "Chairman"
I was hoping for a 40th anniversary of the 20” yellow and blue World Tour or Pro Performer in 2025…damn.
GT BMX must find a way!
For me personally, this is like when hulk meets Thor.
My favourite old school rider and my favourite mid school rider…my performer and my voelker dyno are my favourite bikes ❤️🤙🏻
Kole is a beast on a 20 and an mtb.🍻
Built in the USA GT Revival is vital. Do it!
