If Subaru used the 6 piston Brembos or heck, even parts bin the GR STI 4 piston brembos in the WRX GT? I think more people would consider it. Not because they are lazy, but because injuries or health related problems. Another great podcast, Flatirons Tuning.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. because it is placed as the premium level of WRX, it really needs some kind of brake upgrade. Stay Tuned!
IM NOT SURE I FOLLOW BUT I THINK SUBARU IS MISSING THE BOAT BIG TIME..LIKE BMW OR AMG, SUBARU NEEDS TO MAKE STI VARIANTS OF ALL THEIR CARS !!! PUT THAT SPT CVT IN THE ASCENT STI OR MATBE OFFER TWO MODELS OF STI ONE MORE FOR STREET TRACK USE AND MAKE A OUTBACK/CROSSTREK WILDERNESS STI WITH THE RALLY INSPIRATION !! DONT HAVE TO MAKE A BUNCH OF UNITS BUT FOR FUHK SAKE ADD SOME SPICE, ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT BACK INTO SUBARU !! THEY USED TO BE A QUIRKY, GENUINELY UNIQUE MANUFACTURER AND THEY SEEM TO FORGET THAT IF IT WASNT FOR ENTHUSIASTS AND THEIR STI BRAND THEY NEVER WOULD BE WHERE THEY ARE AT TODAY !!! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET THIS THROUGH THEIR HEADS !!! THEY NEED TO TAKE THE TOYOTA GR APPROACH TO THEIE PRODUCT LINE..AND THE THING IS IT WOULDNT COST THEM MUCH BC THEY ALREADY HAVE ALL THE PARTS DEVELOPED !!
@ as in I feel they used the ascent as the sti motor and new transmission tester. The ascent when 6 speed manual swapped is actually quite capable. Since I have 5 kids. The ascent was the natural choice for a shell. And then the swapping of parts to make it work to my spec was in order.
I hope Subaru improves the reliability/tunability/performance of the SPT, I can only afford to have one car in the garage, so if I do get a chance to get a WRX it has got to put up with traffic as a daily driver, and my knees can no longer handle constant shifting with a manual. The average family man who wants a fun drive on the weekends.
Time will tell. Hopefully now that there are 3 model years of WRX's out there, more experiences will start coming in. This is the first time I am curious about the Subaru CVT/SPT. Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!
Currently in the market for a fun daily with a backseat and a WRX was on the list along with a GTI, GRC, Elantra N, Si maybe a Type R if the price is right. I work with two lifelong Subaru owners, both still diehard fans and own multiple vehicles from the brand. They both have a common complaint, the infotainment system. Both HATE it. Hearing their experiences frankly took it off my list. Trans? Couldn't care if the auto was 2secs a lap faster. I have zero want for an automatic (CVT, DSG, 6/8/9/10speed) I'm not tracking my car, it's a daily and the whole point of these types of vehicles is smiles per mile.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Subaru historically has not had the best infotainment for sure. But this new system doesn't seem that bad at all. I'd actually say it was a step forward. But I don't typically play too much with the stereo. I'll have to see if one of the guys here can test it more thoroughly. Stay Tuned!
Short answer, yes. Long answer, also yes.
Been running 19+ psi tuned with an ETS intake only. 20k and 0 issues.
GT model.
For a daily, it rips, and pleasantly.
Hmm. Tell me more about this. Is there a build sheet/website where I can see this? Please and Thank you.
That is really great to hear!

Fantastic video!
Thanks very much! Stay Tuned!
Also the ascent was the sti in disguise. 4cyl turbo in the biggest rig they make. Now it’s in the 2025 sti fa24dit. The ascent is an impressive unit

Honestly after reading about how you can basically make it a sequential trans utilizing a sim shifter,
