Approximately one month ago I asked you about the transparent sheets. You told me that some proctors allowed you more than one but that could be different for each case. So I decided to train with only one transparent sheet and now I watch this video in which you confirm us that only one transparent sheet is allowed. I saw many comments in youtube where people are complaining that their microphones do work properly but still during the exam they faced technical issue with the microphone. So do you recommend using an external microphone to counter this sort of issue? It would really make my day if you can give me a reply.
Hi, you're so welcome! If you test your microphone using the ETS Browser and everything is fine, I don't think you have to worry. However, perhaps it makes sense to have a back up just in case. If you feel more secure with a second microphone, you could consider that.

Yes, I took the test last Sunday November 8th. I couldn’t manage time to erase the sleeves. It came to the point of distracting my focus during the listening section!!!
I took the test on October 7th and I was able to use 3 white boards. But it is true that each proctor can enforce the rules differently so you would have to adapt.
Hi juva, thanks for your video on TOEFL home edition I got 11 points increment in TOEFL listening and 3pts increment in reading got L: 25 and R: 22. Home edition is better than center based test in center based test a girl who was sitting besides me was so loud during her speaking I was not able to concentrate in my listening and scored low L:14 but in home edition it was a great experience got L:25 and R:22. And one more thing the guy who was supervising me didn't asked me about the no of sheet I have he just asked me to show my desk but I used only one transperent sheet. And after the exam he checked whether I had erased the rough work or not.

Hello, do the wall hangings need to be removed in the room? Or pictures? I have a glass cupboard with things inside. Will that be a problem? Also is it necessary to carry your phone in the test room? Does it mandatorily ask you to show your room?
Hello Sonalika, as long as your wall items are not TOEFL related I don't think it will be a problem. However, I'd recommend asking ETS or ProctorU just to be sure. You must show the proctor your phone and he must see that you put it somewhere else so that he can be sure that you can't use it during the TOEFL test. You will be required to show your room to the proctor. Hope this helps :)

Hi Rodrigo, thank you, I'm glad you like it! ETS recently changed a few things: you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore, an ETS account is sufficient. You can schedule your test on your ETS account.

So great that you want to take the TOEFL Home Edition! You can use the speaker and microphone of your computer or external ones that are not part of a headset. Hope this helps :)

Hi Kira, freut mich sehr, dass die die Videos geholfen haben :). ETS hat die Anmeldung geändert, du brauchst jetzt nur noch einen ETS Account, aber keinen ProctorU Account. Du kannst deinen TOEFL Test direkt in deinem ETS Account buchen. ETS wird dir dann eine Bestätigungsmail schicken in der ein Link ist, der dich am Testtag direkt zum Check-in führt. Hallo :) Freut mich, dass es dir gefällt! Super, dass du den TOEFL machst, ein bisschen Aufregung is normal, keine Sorge. ETS hat inzwischen die Regeln geändert; auf der ETS Webseite steht, dass die Tür sichtbar sein muss. Am besten, du schaust dir die Regeln nochmal an und checkst ob alles passt. Es ist ganz wichtig, dass du allen Regeln folgst, da der kleinste Regelverstoß bedeuten kann, dass dein TOEFL abgebrochen wird. Aber keine Sorge, wenn alles passt, sollte es keine Probleme geben. Ich wünsche dir alles Gute für deinen TOEFL!

Hello. I took my test on the 28th October. Yes, I was allowed only one transparent sheet although I prepared 10. Hence, I used a piece of A3 sized paper and laminated it as my transparent sheet. My laminated sheet was wide enough and does not require much erasing. Just a suggestion.

Hey Livia! After scheduling your test you will get a confirmation email from ETS. In this email you'll find a link that says "Start your test". Just click on this link to start your TOEFL test. Then you need to go through the check-in procedure. When I took the test I had to take a photo of me, confirm that I understand the rules etc. At some point the proctor suddenly appeared and talked to me. He will lead you through the rest of the check-in: you will be asked to show your room etc. Don't worry the check-in is quite convenient.
Is it ok for us to write down notes and while watching down? I read so many horrible home edition stories that scare me a little now. Some test takers were interrupted during the listening section as they looked down too long. How's your experience?
Hi, don't worry! It's totally clear that you need you look down while you are writing. Just try to look into the camera as often as you can. I did it exactly like this. When I took notes I had a look at my transparency sheet and in-between, when I was thinking, I looked straight into the camera and this was totally fine for ProctorU.
Hello Juva, thanks for the valuable videos! I took home edition few weeks ago, and my score is on hold. Only reason I can think of is when I finished the test, I waited for further instruction maybe for couple minutes but nothing happened so I closed it. Did I need to wait until someone say so? I remember your other mentioned that I need to show my white board but did someone say to do so?

I am sure here there must be people who keep receiving the same error message like me on ProctorU Test Equipment Page, saying 'Your camera width/height could not be found' on Chrome. I reached ProctorU help in different times and I was told that I should not be afraid for these errors and I can still take the test on the test day even though I get 2 red errors on Test Equipment page. When I check online forums I came across with many test takers who are nervous because of the same error, but there is no any concrete solution. Any advice? Thanks!

Hi Juva, love your videos. Can you please confirm if the proctor u account needs to be created for toefl. The website does not specifically mention anything regarding it. Also, when I tried to create one and select institution as "Toefl" , it gives the error "This Institution does not permit creating a ProctorU account. Please navigate to your course Learning Management System for scheduling and rescheduling ProctorU reservations."

Hi Luis, I'm fine thanks, hope you're doing well too! So great that you are taking the TOEFL! You are absolutely right, your ears must be free during the test. But you don't need to cut your hair :D. I used a hair tie to make sure that my ears were free during the test. So I can highly recommend doing that :)

You need a working mic and camera but it's totally fine if you use the built-in mic and camera of your computer. Your camera should be good enough so that the proctor can see you and your room, so if that's not the case you may need one, just as Marwa said. I'm with Sandra here - if your English centre registered the test for you they have the details so definitely ask them. My proctor was from ProctorU, I assume he was not sitting in the same country. Don't worry about that. Your proctor will speak English so everything will be fine.
I will be taking the TOEFL soon. I consider English as my first language as I have been speaking the language since birth. I go to an overseas American school where the language of instruction is English and a community that consists of Americans and other English speaking westerners. Do you think I will do well in the test ? atleast a score of 100? Do native speakers do well in the test? Thank you.

Thank you so much for the video!! I have a problem when I check the checklist they say that I can use a PC with operating system version 7 but when I run the ProctorU equipment check they tell me the minimum version for windows that I can use is 8 !!

Hello Den, yes, I got a paper score report. If you want one you need to tick the box on your ETS Account that says that you want one. They sent it by regular mail. It may arrive a bit later than your online score report.
Hi I want to know if I accidentally click on the red cross button after finishing all the test and it said you provoke the proctor. Is there any problem with that or it doesn’t matter?
This might be a funny concern, but I can't help feel a little uneasy about installing the Proctor U extension :( it's just the fact that it has so much control and access to my device that makes uncomfortable. Can I install and uninstall the extension after every system check I do, and install it the day I have my test?

Hi Omkar, on the ETS website it says that you can use one transparency sheet with one piece of blank paper in it. So I assume this may not be allowed. I'd recommend asking them whether you are allowed to do that, just to be sure.

I'm really scared about the fact that I have to erase my notes due to only having one sheet allowed to take notes :( During the listening part when you finish the last question of a passage do the next passage automatically start (student or teacher start speaking) or do you have to press play? Because if it's automatic I don't see how we are supposed to erase our previous notes in time to start taking new notes... :'(
I totally understand, it's really not convenient. As far as I remember the next listening task automatically. I'd recommend practicing erasing your notes quickly before the test because this is the only thing you can do to get used to the situation. I hope that this helps at least a bit.

Regarding the time issue: first, go into your ProctorU account settings and check whether the time zone displayed is correct - it must be the time zone of the country you will be located in at the time of your test, as I understand it this is Brazil. Second, go to the scheduling section, your time zone (Brazil) should be displayed there again, make sure that it is correct. This means that the times displayed refer to your time zone. You only need to create an account at ETS and schedule your test there. This means that you don't schedule your test via ProctorU anymore. If you have scheduled your test in your ETS account, that's sufficient, you don't need to do anything else. Does this answer your question?

I saw many comments in youtube where people are complaining that their microphones do work properly but still during the exam they faced technical issue with the microphone. So do you recommend using an external microphone to counter this sort of issue? It would really make my day if you can give me a reply.
Hi, you're so welcome! If you test your microphone using the ETS Browser and everything is fine, I don't think you have to worry. However, perhaps it makes sense to have a back up just in case. If you feel more secure with a second microphone, you could consider that.

Yes, I took the test last Sunday November 8th. I couldn’t manage time to erase the sleeves. It came to the point of distracting my focus during the listening section!!!

I took the test on October 7th and I was able to use 3 white boards. But it is true that each proctor can enforce the rules differently so you would have to adapt.

Hi juva, thanks for your video on TOEFL home edition I got 11 points increment in TOEFL listening and 3pts increment in reading got L: 25 and R: 22. Home edition is better than center based test in center based test a girl who was sitting besides me was so loud during her speaking I was not able to concentrate in my listening and scored low L:14 but in home edition it was a great experience got L:25 and R:22. And one more thing the guy who was supervising me didn't asked me about the no of sheet I have he just asked me to show my desk but I used only one transperent sheet. And after the exam he checked whether I had erased the rough work or not.

Hello Sonalika, as long as your wall items are not TOEFL related I don't think it will be a problem. However, I'd recommend asking ETS or ProctorU just to be sure. You must show the proctor your phone and he must see that you put it somewhere else so that he can be sure that you can't use it during the TOEFL test. You will be required to show your room to the proctor. Hope this helps :)

Hi Kira, freut mich sehr, dass die die Videos geholfen haben :). ETS hat die Anmeldung geändert, du brauchst jetzt nur noch einen ETS Account, aber keinen ProctorU Account. Du kannst deinen TOEFL Test direkt in deinem ETS Account buchen. ETS wird dir dann eine Bestätigungsmail schicken in der ein Link ist, der dich am Testtag direkt zum Check-in führt. According to ETS, you are allowed to use a small whiteboard or one transparency sheet, so you cannot use 2 sheets.

ETS hat inzwischen die Regeln geändert; auf der ETS Webseite steht, dass die Tür sichtbar sein muss. Am besten, du schaust dir die Regeln nochmal an und checkst ob alles passt. Es ist ganz wichtig, dass du allen Regeln folgst, da der kleinste Regelverstoß bedeuten kann, dass dein TOEFL abgebrochen wird. Aber keine Sorge, wenn alles passt, sollte es keine Probleme geben. Hello. I took my test on the 28th October. Yes, I was allowed only one transparent sheet although I prepared 10. Hence, I used a piece of A3 sized paper and laminated it as my transparent sheet. My laminated sheet was wide enough and does not require much erasing. Just a suggestion.

Hey Livia! After scheduling your test you will get a confirmation email from ETS. In this email you'll find a link that says "Start your test". Just click on this link to start your TOEFL test. Then you need to go through the check-in procedure. When I took the test I had to take a photo of me, confirm that I understand the rules etc. At some point the proctor suddenly appeared and talked to me. He will lead you through the rest of the check-in: you will be asked to show your room etc. Don't worry the check-in is quite convenient.
Is it ok for us to write down notes and while watching down? I read so many horrible home edition stories that scare me a little now. Some test takers were interrupted during the listening section as they looked down too long. How's your experience?
Hi, don't worry! It's totally clear that you need you look down while you are writing. Just try to look into the camera as often as you can. I did it exactly like this. When I took notes I had a look at my transparency sheet and in-between, when I was thinking, I looked straight into the camera and this was totally fine for ProctorU.

Only reason I can think of is when I finished the test, I waited for further instruction maybe for couple minutes but nothing happened so I closed it. Did I need to wait until someone say so? I am sure here there must be people who keep receiving the same error message like me on ProctorU Test Equipment Page, saying 'Your camera width/height could not be found' on Chrome. I reached ProctorU help in different times and I was told that I should not be afraid for these errors and I can still take the test on the test day even though I get 2 red errors on Test Equipment page. When I check online forums I came across with many test takers who are nervous because of the same error, but there is no any concrete solution. Any advice? Thanks!

Also, when I tried to create one and select institution as "Toefl" , it gives the error "This Institution does not permit creating a ProctorU account. Your English center should know right now when your test is going to take place since you have already an appointment. I would ask if I were you.
You need a working mic and camera but it's totally fine if you use the built-in mic and camera of your computer. Your camera should be good enough so that the proctor can see you and your room, so if that's not the case you may need one, just as Marwa said.
I'm with Sandra here - if your English centre registered the test for you they have the details so definitely ask them.
My proctor was from ProctorU, I assume he was not sitting in the same country. Don't worry about that. Your proctor will speak English so everything will be fine.
I will be taking the TOEFL soon. I consider English as my first language as I have been speaking the language since birth. I have a problem when I check the checklist they say that I can use a PC with operating system version 7 but when I run the ProctorU equipment check they tell me the minimum version for windows that I can use is 8 !!

This might be a funny concern, but I can't help feel a little uneasy about installing the Proctor U extension :( it's just the fact that it has so much control and access to my device that makes uncomfortable. Can I install and uninstall the extension after every system check I do, and install it the day I have my test?

@@alazzouzisoukayna9001'My best' means that if you take the TOEFL several times, they take your best score of each section and you can hand that in. If you take the TOEFL and hand in your certificate of that test it is not related to 'My best'.

Hi Omkar, on the ETS website it says that you can use one transparency sheet with one piece of blank paper in it. So I assume this may not be allowed. I'd recommend asking them whether you are allowed to do that, just to be sure.

Did you download the ETS browser correctly? If yes, you should find a button there where you can do the voice check.

Hi :) ETS recently changed the rules, you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore. It's sufficient if you have an ETS account.

I'm really scared about the fact that I have to erase my notes due to only having one sheet allowed to take notes :( During the listening part when you finish the last question of a passage do the next passage automatically start (student or teacher start speaking) or do you have to press play? Because if it's automatic I don't see how we are supposed to erase our previous notes in time to start taking new notes... :'(
I totally understand, it's really not convenient. As far as I remember the next listening task automatically. I'd recommend practicing erasing your notes quickly before the test because this is the only thing you can do to get used to the situation. I hope that this helps at least a bit.

You must use a non-permanent pen and erase your notes using a towel or something like that.

Regarding the time issue: first, go into your ProctorU account settings and check whether the time zone displayed is correct - it must be the time zone of the country you will be located in at the time of your test, as I understand it this is Brazil. Second, go to the scheduling section, your time zone (Brazil) should be displayed there again, make sure that it is correct. This means that the times displayed refer to your time zone. You only need to create an account at ETS and schedule your test there. This means that you don't schedule your test via ProctorU anymore. If you have scheduled your test in your ETS account, that's sufficient, you don't need to do anything else. Does this answer your question?

Yes, you should because this is the browser you will use when taking the TOEFL test.

TOEFL Scores are valid for two years from your test date, so 2022 should work.
What if my internet disconnects during the test?
As I did not experience this issue I don't know what will happen. I assume that you would need to reconnect again and then get in touch with your proctor and see what happens. I'd recommend asking ETS or ProctorU how you should proceed in such a case. Hope this helps :)
