TOEFL iBT Home Test is a total RIPOFF!!! Proctors arrived online 40 mins late. I passed all the equipment checks beforehand but during my test, my video dropped and multiple technicians had to remotely fix the issue. This happened MULTIPLE times. Then the ETS browser failed during another section. I was so frustrated and anxious and it definitely affected my performance. I spent over an hour just waiting for them to troubleshoot. The proctors and technicians were absolutely unconcerned about the test takers situation. I was so prepared and then all this chaos occurred. NEVER AGAIN! TOEFL shoud be ashamed of their service,
This is exactly what happen to me taking TOFEL home edition for the first time. As soon as I took the exam it started lagging and I wasn’t able to type on the writing exam. I was very disappointed and the worst experience, I was sitting for 6 hours with their technical issues. Most of my friends experience the same thing.
The same happened to me. I wasted like one hour and a half because I had a lot of proctors told me that I had problems with my Internet because it was "too slow for them" It was annoying. I had to go at a test center. You have to have a powerful Internet and computer for them 🤦🏻♀️

The do’s and dont’s are pretty simply. I would advice you to visit their TH-cam channel and watch their videos / or just visit their website . Their requirements are exactly the same as what is mentioned in the video. However , in all honesty . Many universities are not accepting at-home tests . So it’s better you make sure of that before you go ahead and take it from home . I ended up having to go to a center and retake it cause the university I had in mind wouldn’t accept the results .

Don’t do @home edition. My experience is I booked the test on 20th June and the test date will be on 22nd June. On that day I tried to click the link given on my confirmation email and there’s no exam on my schedule. I tried to reach for help and they asked me to send the screenshot with the date and time stamp clearly visible. But I was freaking out at that time. Hope i’ll get my money back.
When I took the at home edition for the first time I didn't know I wasn't able to use the phone during the 10 minute break (which is an incredibly stupid rule, since there isn't really a way to cheat for the TOEFL. Plus you're allowed to leave the room, so if you really did want to chest you could just do it outside the room) All they told me is that they terminated the exam, didn't even explain anything or talk to me, literally just left

I recently faced a similar experience . But it was an exam at the test centre . They said my ID will be unacceptable because of an old photo. Anyone who plans to give TOEFL exam . Please update your photograph . Otherwise your 15000 will be a goner . They have no refund policy so you won't get a refund . Almost seems like they are running some scam . And also I liked your point that TOEFL is not fairly priced . It does half the job of SAT exam and takes twice as much money

The same problem happened to me I changed my laptop 3 times also when started the exam was everything good I finished the exam and still everything good but today i enter to my ETS account i find that my scores are canceled for no reasons
actually I gave the exam in a center where they exchanged people giving exam after two sections, they delayed the exam results after that incident, center exam also might be very unlucky sometimes.
Yeah, I agree with you I have those kind of difficulties before taking my test. I have taken aptist, Itep tests and I have experimented those issues. I think it is a tricky they have to take our money

Hey! I had a similar problem and I emailed the company trying to reschedule or have a refund but they answered that my computer was the problem and that the only way to do the test again was to pay the fee again! Terrible experience! Don't waste your money doing the home edition :(
TOEFL home exam is an expensive waste of time. The proctorU staff are the classic incompetent call center that are given licence to hack. Comunication is poor and transparency even less, furthermore if there is a problem, ETS will promptly reply how "sorry" they are but unfortunately they do not deal with that matter and give you another mail to contanct for the cycle to go on and on.

Even though their equipment check showed that my internet connection was OK. Now they are refusing to reschedule my test or make a refund. They even made a false claim in their emails that I didn't run any system check before the test day. Which is absolutely not true. Before the test day I ran their equipment check and it showed that my internet was good also. Nevertheless they refuse to take any responsibility for the issues that I experienced and I just lost my money on that test. It costs this year 290 usd dollars.
OMG I did my first exam 8 January, then I waited and waited for the results, then they back email about technical voice issue, they could not hear my voice on speaking section. I rescheduled for free, i had chosen 24 January, did it again, but was ok, even better in the second time, because in the first time i was not satisfied with my presenting anyway, and second time i had more experience. Hope now no technical issue anymore.p.s.... It's ok

Dude yesterday was my TOEFL ibt at exam centre centre was 120km from my home and i wasn't able to give the test at centre bcz i registered with my adhar card from April 15 ets announced that adhar card is not valid only passport will work for Indian students i registered for my test in may 20 and in website it accepted my adhar card fro test as a other I'd if it's not valid for exam why u accepted it in ur website and i didn't even got any notification that adhar card is not valid they just sended me a email saying test is Scheduled when i reach centre traveling so long they didn't let me take exam bcz of that policy 😭😭 my whole day 200$ is wasted i tried emailing them they didn't replied what should I do 😭😭😭

Hello Community. I need a help. I have been contacting ETS so far, no feedback. Several calls and I was put on hold for one hour. At the end, none is helping me. I had a challenge on 24th September with my proctor. Kept on interrupting me during my reading. At a point he stopped the test. I even told him to just cancel so that ETS can reschedule me a new one. He made me chek my matter of fact, I failed to complete only 3 of the 4 reading passages
They tried to be like me and looked at my face….. like why that woman try to be like me I mean …. I was worrying about the exam they don’t care about how much effort It took me to get at least normally those reading sections and even listening was hard for me too.

My exam time was at 4:20 pm after my exam started but i had to come problem in starting exam 30 minutes. so, my exam had been started at 4:50 pm and my exam had been finished after i got my reading and listening score. Test dates are available from a month agar so you should get a date in April if you apply now. However, it varies from location to location. So try selecting other locations as well

It’s really bad for me because I wanted to take the test yesterday and my time was at 4 pm but since I didn’t know anything I thought I would come and then click on start and then I will start testing duolingo is better than this cuz I didn’t have problems with it before… so proctored were like fixing 1 hours almost and I thought since the time was at 4 on I thought that I was late so I told them I was late and then they said reschedule…. That is very sad that the test didn't get rescheduled. You could mail again, however, this is the reason why I asked people to go to test centres 😢
Try to talk to them on the phone. Call on the US number and let them know you issue. And push them reschedule.

ILETS is difficult compared to TOEFL but even it cost same like that !

Actually my exam is on 9th January. Unfortunately I could not appear my exam because of some circumstances and i decided to reschedule. After emailing ets, i received my link to find my rescheduled date but when I click in that link i can see that test dates are available from july... The date is way too far ...
I thought i would get my date after one week but all the date i could see was so disappointing for me...

Test dates are available from a month agar so you should get a date in April if you apply now. However, it varies from location to location. So try selecting other locations as well

Hey, it’s not that complicated . Just follow the rules provided by ets and toefl. You will be fine . I gave my exam today and everything went smoothly by the grace of god .
It’s really bad for me because I wanted to take the test yesterday and my time was at 4 pm but since I didn’t know anything I thought I would come and then click on start and then I will start testing duolingo is better than this cuz I didn’t have problems with it before… so proctored were like fixing 1 hours almost and I thought since the time was at 4 on I thought that I was late so I told them I was late and then they said reschedule…. And also I have to lay additional 60 dollars for that I want to go to test center but my city doesn’t have any test center so I need to go to another city but I can’t so I am gonna try reschedule it.I will see anyways I am so pissed it and tired of this toefl exam and all the shit yes had and proctors.
