Thank you! I needed a score of 95 for my university. I studied with your videos and the cracking the toefl book. Highly recommend to combine these two because of trying out those methods juva describes immediately. Unfortunately I just scored 19 in reading but 26 in listening, so these were my unofficial scores because reading was soooo hard and I practiced a lot! I just got my scores 6 days after the test. 98 over all!! I‘m so happy I scored 28 and 25 in speaking and writing. Reading was super tough but I made it wooow! Thank you Juva!!!

@Сагитова Регина Hi, so great that you want to take the TOEFL at home! Yes, the TOEFL Home Edition is still available. According to ETS you can use a separate webcam and an external microphone that is not part of a headset, so this should not be a problem. Hope this helps :)
hey juva, I just got back my scores for my at home test, R-30,L-30,S-29,W-26, I must say your videos were really helpful in taking the test. Everything happened as you said, luckily my proctors were very nice and didn't disturb me once. Like you, I got my scores on the 9th day and before this there was no update on my ETS account. I am sure if I didn't watch your videos I would have got a panic attack seeing that my test had yet to be scheduled even after taking the test. Anyways thanks a lot for your videos, hope to learn more from you regarding application process.

Hey Juva, I took the home edition test, and before I did I was quite scared due to some experiences some people have shared here... But honestly, the home edition was the best decision I could do! It was pretty comfortable and I had no technical issues. My proctor was really chilled and did not make any interruptions during the test. If I have to choose, I would definitely prefer the home edition rather than going to a center. But anyway, thank you so much for the nice videos you shared with us! Hi Catherine, thank you, I'm so glad you like it! After scheduling your test you will get a confirmation email from ETS. In this email you'll find a link that says "Start your test". Just click on this link to start your TOEFL test.

Hey Juva, I finally scheduled my first TOEFL Home edition test. I saw that when I log in to launch the test I should insert an Exam ID and the password... should ProctorU send me the ID or it's written somewhere I and I didn't see?

I had a bad experience because I couldn't log in to my exam (I thought I needed to fill the Exam ID and password of the toefl launch test) and nobody connected to the Proctor U extension... Now I'm confident, thanks to you!!

I know it can be quite confusing because when you first see the ETS browser it's normal to think that you are required to login there. Hello Juva. Your videos really helped me to prepare for my test. Unfortunately I do not recommend anyone taking the TOEFL Home Edition. I took a test almost one and a half months ago. The system was crashing all the time and my exam took more than seven hours - definitely not a problem on my side. During the test time several proctors changed - the last one left me and turned off my test when my test crashed for the last during the speaking part. I was not able to finish my test and I was not able to apply to the university. Not to mention that the TOEFL still didn’t resolve my issue, let alone provide me with a refund. I keep getting the same excuse how they are overwhelmed due to the corona for almost two months. It is seriously not a company I will ever trust with my time and money.

@@leirerios hii! I used a whiteboard but I would recommend using a sheet or multiple whiteboards because it was kinda stressful trying to erase everything on the whiteboard in time for all the questions😊

However, I read in one of your comments it has recently been changed. I'm taking my test 2 days from now, so does the proctor automatically launch when I start the test on test day? Hi :) Don't worry, you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore. Have a look at the confirmation email you got from ETS, you should find a link there. If you click on the link on test day, you should be able to start your test. Hope this helps :)

Hello Guillaume! You're welcome, I'm so glad they're helpful to you! Yes, ETS changed their procedure: Now you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore for scheduling, instead you schedule your test with ETS. But you will still take the test with ProctorU. This means you need to install the ETS Browser and do the ProctorU system check etc. The new procedure only concerns the manner how you schedule your test.

Hello! I understand your concerns, I had also read lots of bad reviews before. I think it depends. If you satisfy the technical requirements, there is a low probability that you will have problems. However, if you don't fulfill them, for example, if your internet tends to be slow, the probability is higher that you will have problems. Of course, regarding the proctors unexpected things can always happen. That's why I always recommend following the rules meticulously. In a nutshell, there is always a risk that something happens, but you can reduce the risk if you satisfy the requirements. Hope this helps :)

On their website ETS state that your ID must have been issued by your government. So this shouldn't be an issue. However, I recommend contacting ETS and asking them before you take your TOEFL, just to be sure.

I just have a question, the room I have avaiable for test-taking has a book shelf with (many) books on it. I'm guessing that's not appropriate for test day. I'm wondering if it would work to just cover the shelf with shrouds or something? I'm asking because it would be really complicated to take them all out.
Hi Giovanna :) So great that you want to take the TOEFL Home Edition! Make sure that the books on your shelf are not related to the TOEFL. I would remove all books that have something to do with English. Covering the shelf is a great idea! I'd also recommend asking ETS, just to be sure. Hope this helps :).

I have however a question: So if I understood it correctly: After making an account on proctorU, downloading ETS Browser, hecking equipment ,scheduled my test and also reveived an email with a link,..I don´t need to register anywhere else, right? Or should I just follow the link on my test day in the email provided and then I will get directly in contact with the proctorU? Hey Steffi, you don't need a ProctorU account anymore, it suffices if you have an ETS account. You can schedule your TOEFL test there and you just have to click on the link in your confirmation email from ETS to start your test. I'd recommend clicking on the link a bit earlier, so that you have enough time. Hope this helps :).

Hi Juva, I had taken 2 TOEFL Home Edition using my Mac. There were two major issues I could not avoid: 1. The volume of my voice. It seems that the Mac does not pick up my voice as it does when I'm using Zoom or other online meeting applications, since the volume check always showed my voice is way too low even if I was trying my best to raise my voice. I've been living/working in the US for 8+ years and speak English fluently but I ended up getting 22 for speaking. My personal solution is to try the test again at the test center (also with the help of your speaking template, knowing that TOEFL may care more about the structure of the answers). 2. The MacOs system seemed to block the ProccorU video. I had a hard time starting my test session for both of the TOEFL Home tests, and I spend ~3hrs talking with online technicians for troubleshooting every time before I could even start my test. I don't have any solutions to this yet, but I'll recommend y'all to take your test at the test center for a peaceful start.

Hi Juva, just a small query, when I installed the ETS browser it did not ask for my voice check, the portal of entering the exam ID and password directly emerged. Should I be concerned?
Hi Nikita, nothing to worry about! Thee should be a button in your ETS browser that says something like voice check - have a look if you find it. You do not need to enter the credentials, the proctor will do that for you.

Exellent video, I needed to practice for the test and your videos are really awesome for this purpose. However, I had a bad experience, the proctor terminated my exam. I was not doing nothing wrong. Before start the test I checked with the proctor my environment, and everything was good. Then in the middle of the test a new proctor came and told me I need to check your environment, and I told her of course, but please just let me finish this part there are 5 minuts left, and she told no. I did what she asked, despite I lost to answer the last four questions, then suddenly my test closed, and that was all. For me, hom edition is a bad idea, the proctors changes and they do not think in your time, and they do not give you punctual feedback about why your test was cancelled.

Hello. So there will be no problem and we need to download the ets test browser and proctoru? There are two different things, right? Also, writing in transparent paper is hard I think right? We can have many of them or just one?
If you want to take the TOEFL Home Edition, you need to download the ETS browser. You don't have to create an account at ProctorU anymore, an ETS account is sufficient. You are allowed to use 1 transparency sheet and I'd recommend practicing taking notes before so that you are used to it when you take the TOEFL. Hope this helps :)

I have one issue regarding the "Audio check" inside the ETS Browser app, after I record my audio, when i hear the recording, it's very patchy and difficult to understand, as if the app wasn't recording the whole time. Did this also happened to you during the audio check? What would you recommend me to do?
Hi Luis, that did not happen to me. I assume that as long as your audio check is successful, this should not be a problem. However, just to be sure I would recommend connecting with a live technician of ProctorU and ask them for advice.
Hello, I would like to ask some questions: 1. Do I need to download the program that allows the proctor to contact me beforehand? Or does it happen on the spot after checking in? 2. Could the test be canceled if the security checking part with the proctor took too long? 3. How does the proctorU page move to the ETS test browser after contacting the proctor? 4. When doing the audio check in my ETS test browser, it takes like 4 to 5 minutes to wait. Is it normal? 5. You said in the video that the proctorU web sends an email prompting to download an extension. Actually, it did not come and I have no idea whether that extension is with me or not. 6. is it allowed to charge your lop top while taking the test?
Hi, here are my answers to your questions - I hope this is of help to you :) 1. You don't need to download anything, it happens after checking in. 2. I don't know but I can't imagine why your test should be cancelled because of that. 3. The proctor does that for you. 4. I also had to wait for some time, so I guess this may be normal. 5. If you didn't download it, you most certainly don't have it. I suggest contacting proctorU and asking them to send you the link. 6. I think so. I can't imagine why it should not be allowed.

I had a bad experience because I couldn't log in to my exam (I thought I needed to fill the Exam ID and password of the toefl launch test) and nobody connected to the Proctor U extension... Hello Juva. Your videos really helped me to prepare for my test. Unfortunately I do not recommend anyone taking the TOEFL Home Edition. I took a test almost one and a half months ago. The system was crashing all the time and my exam took more than seven hours - definitely not a problem on my side. During the test time several proctors changed - the last one left me and turned off my test when my test crashed for the last during the speaking part. I was not able to finish my test and I was not able to apply to the university. Not to mention that the TOEFL still didn’t resolve my issue, let alone provide me with a refund. I keep getting the same excuse how they are overwhelmed due to the corona for almost two months. It is seriously not a company I will ever trust with my time and money.

Hi :) Don't worry, you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore. Have a look at the confirmation email you got from ETS, you should find a link there. If you click on the link on test day, you should be able to start your test. Hope this helps :)

Yes, ETS changed their procedure: Now you don't need to create a ProctorU account anymore for scheduling, instead you schedule your test with ETS. But you will still take the test with ProctorU. This means you need to install the ETS Browser and do the ProctorU system check etc. The new procedure only concerns the manner how you schedule your test.

Hello! I understand your concerns, I had also read lots of bad reviews before. I think it depends. If you satisfy the technical requirements, there is a low probability that you will have problems. However, if you don't fulfill them, for example, if your internet tends to be slow, the probability is higher that you will have problems. Of course, regarding the proctors unexpected things can always happen. That's why I always recommend following the rules meticulously. In a nutshell, there is always a risk that something happens, but you can reduce the risk if you satisfy the requirements. Hope this helps :)

On their website ETS state that your ID must have been issued by your government. So this shouldn't be an issue. However, I recommend contacting ETS and asking them before you take your TOEFL, just to be sure.

I just have a question, the room I have avaiable for test-taking has a book shelf with (many) books on it. I'm guessing that's not appropriate for test day. I'm wondering if it would work to just cover the shelf with shrouds or something? I'm asking because it would be really complicated to take them all out.
Hi Giovanna :) So great that you want to take the TOEFL Home Edition! Make sure that the books on your shelf are not related to the TOEFL. I would remove all books that have something to do with English. Covering the shelf is a great idea! I'd also recommend asking ETS, just to be sure. Hope this helps :).

I have however a question: So if I understood it correctly: After making an account on proctorU, downloading ETS Browser, hecking equipment ,scheduled my test and also reveived an email with a link,..I don´t need to register anywhere else, right? Hey Steffi, you don't need a ProctorU account anymore, it suffices if you have an ETS account. You can schedule your TOEFL test there and you just have to click on the link in your confirmation email from ETS to start your test. I'd recommend clicking on the link a bit earlier, so that you have enough time. Hope this helps :).

Hi Juva, I had taken 2 TOEFL Home Edition using my Mac. There were two major issues I could not avoid: 1. The volume of my voice. It seems that the Mac does not pick up my voice as it does when I'm using Zoom or other online meeting applications, since the volume check always showed my voice is way too low even if I was trying my best to raise my voice. I've been living/working in the US for 8+ years and speak English fluently but I ended up getting 22 for speaking. My personal solution is to try the test again at the test center (also with the help of your speaking template, knowing that TOEFL may care more about the structure of the answers). 2. The MacOs system seemed to block the ProccorU video. I had a hard time starting my test session for both of the TOEFL Home tests, and I spend ~3hrs talking with online technicians for troubleshooting every time before I could even start my test. I don't have any solutions to this yet, but I'll recommend y'all to take your test at the test center for a peaceful start.

Hi Nikita, nothing to worry about! Thee should be a button in your ETS browser that says something like voice check - have a look if you find it. You do not need to enter the credentials, the proctor will do that for you.

Exellent video, I needed to practice for the test and your videos are really awesome for this purpose. However, I had a bad experience, the proctor terminated my exam. I was not doing nothing wrong. Before start the test I checked with the proctor my environment, and everything was good. Then in the middle of the test a new proctor came and told me I need to check your environment, and I told her of course, but please just let me finish this part there are 5 minuts left, and she told no. I did what she asked, despite I lost to answer the last four questions, then suddenly my test closed, and that was all. For me, hom edition is a bad idea, the proctors changes and they do not think in your time, and they do not give you punctual feedback about why your test was cancelled.

I have one issue regarding the "Audio check" inside the ETS Browser app, after I record my audio, when i hear the recording, it's very patchy and difficult to understand, as if the app wasn't recording the whole time. Did this also happened to you during the audio check? What would you recommend me to do?
Hi Luis, that did not happen to me. I assume that as long as your audio check is successful, this should not be a problem. However, just to be sure I would recommend connecting with a live technician of ProctorU and ask them for advice.

Hi, here are my answers to your questions - I hope this is of help to you :)
1. You don't need to download anything, it happens after checking in.
2. I don't know but I can't imagine why your test should be cancelled because of that.
3. The proctor does that for you.
4. I also had to wait for some time, so I guess this may be normal.
5. If you didn't download it, you most certainly don't have it. I suggest contacting proctorU and asking them to send you the link.
6. I think so. I can't imagine why it should not be allowed.

I'm so glad you like it :). You are allowed to use 1 transparency sheet or 1 whiteboard. I'd recommend practicing erasing so that you get used to do it quickly.
