  • So this is our 1st time ever visiting Iceland. And what better place to have our first taste of this amazing country by coming to Reykjavik which is the capital city
We have come here by cruise ship so our time here is is very limited but as we say in the video we would love to come back to Iceland and spend more time here.
This video is to give you an idea of some of the things to do in Reykjavik especially for a first timer like us and whose time here is only short lived

I went to Reykjavik a few years ago just for the day. Went to the Blue Lagoon which was lovely but I remember being pelted with hailstones whilst in the water! Bizarre.

I’ve done the Iceland ring road a few years back! Was amazing and a trip of a lifetime. You guys should definitely plan it. Rented a car and camped every night for 10 days. We went early September and that is the best time to go. It can be cold and warm but less tourists. Saw the northern lights 4 different nights.
One thing I will add is the FlyOver Iceland ride is super cool. I did it in Vancouver where they had a double showing of flyover Canada and flyover Iceland. The Iceland one was amazing and even better than Soarin’ at Epcot. Do it if you get a chance next time.

Sounds absolutely amazing what you did. We would definitely like to do this. A few days on a cruise wasn't enough for us to see Iceland as much as we would like 😁

Thanks for your walkabout. We had a day and a half on our cruise and did the Golden Circle 8hr excursion on the first day. I suggest booking a local company that has flexibility on what sites to see when to bypass the cruise lines many busses. On the second day, the Braud Bakery, along with the 87 yr. old hotdog stand that I'm not going to spell.😅 If you return to Reykjavik these are great ways to enjoy the days. 😊

Good info, that will be a great help to us.
we have booked Iceland and Greenland next July looking forward to that.
We done Norway August this year.
A little wet and not to warm
But we knew what the weather could be like.

Oh I can feel the cold, we were there a few years ago in May, went out on some excursions into the snow, NEVER felt cold like it....The colour everywhere is grey which makes it feel even colder... Stacy you do need to treat yourself to a nice waterproof coat, I saw you get soaked in the Fjords wearing that coat, then you can then enjoy being out in the rain 😉 Love your videos and thank you for taking the time to bring us along with you on your adventures..

Lovely update guys, my good lady and myself were shocked when we were in Alta at the price of a poppadum at an Indian restaurant, it worked out about £4.80. Thankfully we just looked at the menu in the window and had a great meal on the ship at Sindhu. 👍

We enjoyed your stroll though Reykjavik Stacey and Kev. Yes, one day may not be enough to see all of Iceland, but this was a nice taste. What an unusual museum you first came upon. We'll save our 16 pounds and see the whale exhibition instead! 🤣🤣 The hot dogs could be a bargain and judging from the prices there, may lead to it's popularity. I'm going to pass on the Bill Clinton weiner jokes. 😁😁 It does look cold there! We'll bring our own hats and gloves. Grandma is over-rated anyway! The church is lovely as is the statue right next to it. We'll leave the pronunciations to you. The sculpture is nice, Famous too, but we don't see the artists intent on what it represents either. Loved the tour.

Thanks so much Dave and Kathy, would love to hear your Bill Clinton Weiner jokes !! Kev had a name for a Monica Lewinsky hotdog but thought it was better to keep it to ourselves 🤣. Hope you're both ok and keeping well 😁

We are taking a Greenland and Iceland cruise this summer. It leaves from Reykjavik and we’ll visit the Golden Circle and South itinerary. This is our 3rd trip to Iceland. We want to do a couple of the museums in Reykjavik. We are planning to take a puffin tour, Lava Show, Perlan, and National Museum of Iceland. I love your accent. Are you British? My grandfather was born in Whitehaven.

Hi Love watching your blogs on cruising I’m wondering you mentioned on one of your videos that one of your cruises couldn’t dock at stravanger and carried on with a sea day just wondered I’m sure another blogger has said you can claim compensation from your insurance if you have the evidence from the cruise ship is this right

    • @OneCouplesAdventure
      @OneCouplesAdventure  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi yes that is right we claimed back on our insurance last year when we couldn't go to Stavanger. We have also just done it on this cruise as we couldn't dock in Belfast. The claim was successful and the insurance company has paid out. You will have to ask guest services for a letter if this ever happens to you. Obviously the amount you will receive will depend on what your insurance cover is for missed ports

I get that Iceland is super expensive, but comparing the price of a mass manufactured hat to a hand knit one is pretty unreasonable. Even if it was hand cranked on a knitting machine, it takes a lot of work to get them right, and I don't know that I'd sell a hand knit hat I made myself for that much less than $60, so add the tourism markup, and horns, and 60 pounds sounds about right.

We saved up so that this year we could take a few more extra weeks out than normal to spend doing what we love which is travelling. Obviously we get paid from youtube too. That helps go towards the cost. Also we work hard over the space of a week or two to make a lot of videos that then go out over a matter of months before the next trip

Hi what month did you visit Reykjavik?

  • @BrainzIOW

Great to see your video on your first trip to Iceland. It’s such a shame that you didn’t get a chance to venture further afield though. Iceland is very different to your standard cruise stop, and not easy to really get a feel for it on a quick walk around Reykjavik. We’ve visited Iceland a number of times and love it every time we are there. Hiring a car is highly recommended though for longer stays.
We are really looking forward to December as we are actually spending Christmas in Iceland this year! :)
Here’s one of our videos from last year, which was a fantastic day…. th-cam.com/video/yr9YFjx-uFY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xvaON9YbrakJSrLu

I'm Icelandic, and I regret to inform you, NONE of your pronounciations were correct. In most cases you weren't even close.
No worries though. I've never known of anyone being able to pronounce Icelandic words correctly unless they actually speak Icelandic.
    😁
