  • NOTE: THIS EXTENSION IS NO LONGER NECESSARY. Smiteworks has added mostly the same features into FGU.
    This is a introduction to a new extension for FantasyGrounds that will allow you to add more immersion to your games with sounds. Syrinscape (local player) is primarily supported but so are local files and more options to come including the Syrinscape online player.

    Great work. Do you plan a way to control the volume mix? Perhaps you can stream from Syrinscape INTO FGC/FGU and use Syrinscape audio interface. Is that possible? Volume control is needed. I didn't see/hear a mention of volume control in your explanation.

    • @ADnDMike
      @ADnDMike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually made requests to Syrinscape so that that would be possible but they were not interested. I desperately want to control sound but until I can send the volumn settings through the API in Syrinscape that wont be possible with their tool
      That said, if/when FGU supports sounds directly it will and when they do add the feature I will immediately add support for it.

    Hi, nice video and thanks for the extension. Im new to this and there is one thing i dont understand. If i play that sound as GM will my players hear it to? I play with headphones, and i dont understand if i have to let my pcs microfon catch the audio from my pc speakers so that the sound is streamed trhoug say google meet or skype.

      You need the Syrinscape Onlineplayer. All your players nee the Onlineplayer, too. In the own the Player, they hear the Sound, too.

    Hi and thanks for the program and the video.
    But unfortunately I have a problem. Maybe you can help me there. I work with the Syrinscape online player. Your sound links work fine. My links are also played, but it always opens a browser window with a GET request. How can I prevent this?
    A second thing I would like to realize is a talking sword.
    I can make it so that the sword generally talks when you attack with it. But I would like to have different sounds for hits, miss, crit and fumble.
    Is there any way to get the Overseer to query conditions in multiple chat rows?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

      I'd recommend reading the forums post in FG on the topic of Audio Overseer. There are multiple discussions there related to your issue with windows being opened and there are varying reasons (os, wrong commands/etc).
      As to the last question, no, you cannot look at multiple lines of text. It only evaluates a single chat line at a time.

    Great extension if I can get it to actually work. I need to caveat that I am running Fantasy Grounds on Linux. I have the Syrinscape software installed on Linux and it runs. Everything appears to be installed correctly in Fantasy Grounds as I can see the extension is loaded and access the extension and see all the sounds you have linked in your add-on modules. The problem is when I click on one of the links I get an error ---- "Could not find any application or handler for syrinscape-fantasy:moods....... since these files don't appear to be traditional
    Have you seen this error before or know if it will work within Linux?

    • @ADnDMike
      @ADnDMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Replied to you on Reddit to this question but, the short version is I don't think Syrinscape has the API for URI calls in linux like it does on windows. BEcause of that it needs to send it through . You can try the "/ao method local" option I added for MAC folks having similar issues. It's not what I'd prefer to use but ... ask Syrinscape for a better API ;(

    So sounds WON'T work if you're playing to hide your rolls from players since GM rolls MUST be on?

    • @ADnDMike
      @ADnDMike  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GM rolls wont play sounds. Players will still hear sounds when they roll (assuming the creature they are attacking is visible in the CT).
      There is also an option to turn off sound (triggers) in the Campaign Settings (I didn't mention that but it's there).

      Hi Mike,I am loving this. However, sounds are only playing on my PC. I have 7 players during a session last night, and they can't hear any sounds that I am hearing. I had the busy tavern playing and it was cool, but no one can hear it. They are able to turn the sound on and off remotely, but it only works on my PC for some reason. Please help.

    Hi Mike. Very promising work. :) i was trying to make this work with online FGC session with friends as virus corona hit our region as well. I was going to try syrinscape, as of now only free version. I did add esxtension and dowloaded syrinscape and run it at the same time asFG. I did hear the music and sound all well, but none of my players could. I have read the forum thread on your program, but got confused. Can you help me out to sort this?? (Ad&d 2e game in FGC)

      I am having the same problem. I can hear all of the sounds on my system (DM) but the players don't hear anything. They are able to turn on and off sounds from their systems and it affects my PC. All of the effects are triggering on my PC (DM) but players don't hear anything. Please help. I would love to get this working for my players. it is very cool.

      Sounds are played by 3rd party products. How you route that audio to the players is dependent on that and outside of the scope of a post I could make here to explain. The short version is you'll need to use Syriscape Online Player, connect friends to that... or use something like VLC and use virtual cables and use cleanfeed.org.
      Right now FantasyGrounds does not have native sound support. This extension just activates sounds in 3rd party products.

    Hi AD&D Mike, If I don't have an extensive Syrinscape collection and I'd like to push all the local file triggered sounds to players, what is highly recommended? I think you mentioned VLC? Will that do the trick?

    • @ADnDMike
      @ADnDMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      VLC is only necessary if you're not using something like Syrinscape.
      For Syrinscape you use their online player and the players have the client version of that.

    • @danieldouglasclemens

      Download the extension (*,ext) from the link provided in the Fantasy Grounds forums (www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?53583-AudioOverseer-(Audio-Management-Extension)&highlight=Audio). Next, just drop the file into your extensions folder of the Fantasy Grounds installation. You can easily find it by starting Fantasy Grounds. This should open up the launch window. Within the launch window (1st screen coming up) click on the folder icon in the upper right hand corner (below the close window button showing the x). If you wait for the tooltip by hovering your mouse pointer over it, it should say "Open data folder". The file explorer should open up at the right spot and you should find a folder named "extensions". Double click on that folder and copy the downloaded .ext-file into that folder. Close Fantasy Grounds and restart it.
      Next, you need to activate the extension for your campaign, by clicking the radio button "CoreRPG - AudioOverseer" within the "Campaign Details" section of the launcher window, where you also select your theme. Then you are ready to go.

    Any ideas why I can't get sounds to trigger from chat? I have been using Audiooverseer for months and, when I click the sound links, they do play. But despite using %[CRITICAL HIT%] as the trigger text it's not playing at all when I crit. I do have GM rolls available.

    • @ADnDMike
      @ADnDMike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would create a brand new trigger, and add your trigger text and sound. Don't copy from another/etc and make sure the settings are as simple as you can make it and work up from there.

      Are you aware that you need to have a method of playing the sounds to your group? When my sounds play they run in Windows Media Player. The output of Windows Audio Player is sent directly to the Discord server we use. To do that you also need a virtual cable.

      they have the forge now they auto install thru the updater now and if you want to manually install .ext just download file and paste it into the extension folder in the fantasy grounds root directory folder in your hard drive
