  • Welcome to my channel! In this video, I delve into the world of Xilinx development boards from Digilent. Join me as I showcase three powerful boards: the ARTY Z7, ARTY S7, and ARTY A7.
We'll take a closer look at the hardware featuring three different chips: the Spartan-7, Atrix-7, and Zinq-7 SoC. This preliminary overview focuses on the fabric size and the abundance of IO pins each chip offers.
Stay tuned as I weigh the options for the new AmiCube board, set to replace the outdated Minimig, which currently utilizes the obsolete Spartan-3 chip.
If you're passionate about FPGA development or curious about Xilinx boards, this video is for you! Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more content on hardware exploration and development. Let's dive in! 🚀

Thank you for sharing! Z7 running PiStorm would be a killing solution!!!

Indeed! Sounds very tempting. Having SoC on the board is definitely big advantage. Let’s see what can we do with it :)

Okay, so this I know now is the new development that will soon replace the minimig! Thank you so much for this video. I hope to see many more as you developer the AmiCube or Minimig v2. It's going to be exciting!!!

The PLL blocks of these 7 series Xilinx FPGAs can be dynamically reconfigured to the required frequency, so you only need one of them for a core clock. Pick your required speed, apply the required configuration and wait for the PLL to lock. You’re better off using MMCM resources though, they now include a PLL so can do all that it can do, plus give you the equivalent of a DCM also.

I am not familiar with Mesa products. At a glance, I see that they have some FPGA boards, mostly Spartan-6.

If you want complete fpga agnostic solution consider running a RISC-V core. Otherwise you will always be locked down to AMD

That is very much true! RISC-V fpga cores are available. I will look into this.
