I think Rocksteady's secret genius plan was to create a game so bad that people would want to go back to Arkham Knight. That's the only reason I can find for the existence of the suicide squad game

The studio heads you're talking about left at the end of 2022, which was after the game was originally finished and had its first delay. So it's not like they left after a year or two and the game changed drastically. They lead the team and it's development for 95% of the process.

Sure there is a slight chance that Rocksteady just wanted to make a shorter game, but chances are that due to the live service nature of the game and it being triple aaa, the game was probably intended to be much longer which means a much longer story as well. If that’s true then it’s safe to say that resources were mismanaged and/or major reworks to the games story and structure were made in the last few years of development.
Same here. I had a blast with that thing. Driving around pursuing criminals who would completely lose it (I mean, you know you're about to have a bad night when freaking Batman is coming at you at full speed IN A TANK) after spotting you was awesome.
yeah, i don't agree that the roads are narrow, i mean they are but you can blast thru almost everything with the batmobile and make a way on your own, it is awasome
I would save all the side missions until the end on Knightmare mode so I could cruise around Gotham in any batmobile. It essentially a Batman simulator at that point and a childhood dream

I find myself unable to explore arkham city to the depths i could explore gotham, especially with the traversal and how slow it is. Does the side content just like blow it out of the water? @@beauregardheer Story is better, main villain and side villains are much better. Doesn't focus and take away from boss battles and gameplay with the batmobile. And performance on all platforms were better. And the step up from Asylum to City was far bigger than City to Knight.

More maps/challenges, characters/costumes to play with, ways to play the game, and the city is much easier to traverse and mess around in and obviously the game just runs/looks better on console than city does.
Woah holy crap guys. This is what gave CDPR the thought to make Johnny Silverhand the way he was in Cyberpunk. It's almost a one to one in terms of the cerebral presentation of Joker and Silverhand popping up out of nowhere.
i love how Johnny being a set of data lets him just zip in and out of sight at any time. with the Joker he only ever disappears when the camera isnt on him which isnt nearly as fun.
I'd say it was more like Tales from the borderlands really, the same thing happens but it's a "chip" with a corpo (Handsome Jack) instead of a terrorist anti-corporations. And in both games the chip's trying to kill the protagonist but in different ways

Fights with batmobile are almost non-existent in relation to fighting on foot. Now playing these again Batmobile is def still the low point of Knight but it doesn't take anything away from it either.

This probably your 5th arkham knight video looking back on the game Luke. I'm a terminal patient 🇮🇳🙏 The ending they gave arkham Batman in SS literally made me depressed for an entire week. It will never be canon to me. Arkham games, esp knight, hitman, witcher 3 were very close to my heart. The art direction, the seamless gameplay, the graphics, the gameplay heck even the batmobile, everything to my eyes in retrospect was perfection. We can always nitpick objectively where a game falls short but really in terms of "pushing it" Back in 2015, games like Arkham knight, ac unity etc have become timeless imo. Edit: if somehow I survive, would love to meet sefton hill one day.
The joker who stops you as you are climbing up a building ledge scared the SHIT out of me. Manbat came close but that first one caught me off guard so bad.
I've been playing the whole Arkham collection now at Knight. So good... I have no words to describe my affection for the Arkham series... the passion overflows as you play it. I recommend getting the games at full price, it's just that good. So so good.
There is so much love put in them. I like walking around the world at ground level without gliding. Only grappling to edges of buildings to see what they look like. There is so much detail put into every single building in Arkham Knight. No two buildings are the same. Park Row, Miagani and Founders island are my favourite to explore. Miagani Island has the BTAS look of the giant downtown Gotham, Founders looks cool because you see the old city that was under the new and Park Row has decaying infrastructure and the city is rotting. Just amazing games.
But no one's talking about how the prices for Arkham Knight's DLC were WAAYYY more reasonable: only a dollar or two for a skin, and like only 9 dollars for a story expansion, compared to SS:KTJL's skins which are like 20-30 dollars each! I think THAT is the main reason why we don't like the game's microtransactions. Also, the skins in Arkham Knight are iconic and classic, compared to the skins in SS:KTJL which are mostly just made-up and goofy. So overall, we pay LESS for BETTER skins in Arkham Knight, but pay way MORE for WORSE skins in SS:KTJL.
Idk know about that I remember Arkham Knight DLC being super expensive at the time lol. Im okay with paying a lot for suits cuz these are high quality models and a dollar or two was a steal but the story DLC was way too expensive. They are each like 5 mins long.

Try it with "no counter icons" mod, fighting looks so much better while being harder. I'm replaying the whole Arkham series on hard with that mod and no upgrades to HP or armor :D Peak difficulty

Suicide Squad drove me to reinstall Arkham Knight about a day after release. I went back to Suicide Squad once since then and it hard crashed after 20 minutes. Think I'm going to finally focus on an Arkham Knight Platinum trophy.
I loved Batmobile it made my child hood dream of full batman experience come to life !!! I have no complaints I also played it on pc few months back and I enjoyed it again with peak graphics , this game should go down in the list of some of the greatest game and greatest art , graphics and mission design in the history
This game is PHENOMENAL! Started playing it again recently and I love it!… Riddle puzzles still suck tho that final “Puzzle” made me wanna enact violence…
A big disappointment was the lack of NPC’s. We finally got Gotham, yet the residents were evacuated before the game starts. Sigh. No one remembers this?
If I’m being honest I been having a lot of fun in suicide squad. I really love how each character has their own unique traversal and personalities. I also love the awesome boss rush of the Justice league. Although I would love to see a game with the same concept except we play as the Justice League.
I remember playing this game and when the bat tank got smashed in the tunnel I felt relieved. Then they brought the spare bat tank in the next scene and then I said damn it.
As someone who first played the Arkham games on switch I do wish I could experience Arkham Knight in all its graphical glory with rain bouncing off the cape etc. However the game is so much more than how good the graphics are. And even with how bad the port is it’s still my favorite of the three.
I'm late to the video, but I'll mention this anyway. Cobra encounters can be completed a lot faster and much easier by using a LVL2 CPU virus on it. You can make them friendly. I don't think I've ever seen it happen, but I believe your Cobra can destroy the others outright. Sometimes the enemy Cobra will snap onto you from time to time, but you're completely safe otherwise
The rain getting flicked off the cape is only for that suit i think and doesn't happen to any other suit but i get your point and the game is on point except the cobra tanks
The Avengers data comparison is a bit of a reach. That game came out during covid where everyone was stuck in the house. Suicide Squad is by no means perfect, but it could’ve easily gotten similar player numbers
One thing id like to remind is that iron galaxy isn’t entirely at fault for the state of the Arkham knight port. They were only given 7 working days to port the game. Idk what happened with TLOU though
Iron Galaxy was also in charge of the PC port of Arkham Origins, the one that caused massive crashes and had lots of lots of bugs. I found out about that watching your Arkhamverse critique, my personal favourite 🦇❤
My biggest gripe is how much the story elements depend on the base Batmobile design and the tank mode, which absolutely kills the replay value for the DLC Batmobiles.
I’ve recently been replaying the Arkham trilogy and Origins and I’ve never felt so betrayed by a video game company for even associating SSKTJL with the OG Batman games
Arkham Knight is soooo good! I played for the first time last year with Xbox Cloud. The cloud doesn't provide the best performance (not close) but even so I was so impressed! The game is soo good that I couldn't complain about the fair criticism people make. I just couldn't stop playing it. I couldn't sleep because I wanted to keep playing all night long. I'll never forget this experience and I'll never stop hyping up Batman Arkham Knight. So ahead of it's time... Gotham is beautiful! The sounds, the darkness, the way you can hear the enemies talk, the bat creature making those scary noises, the freedom to fly with Batman, the sound of the batmobile's engine... Perfect!
Suicide squad even made me appreciate gotham knights. Doing duel takedowns with friends and watching more unique animations makes that game better in itself. + it has stealth.
First of all the reason why Arkham Knight didn’t put his men in the tanks was because he wanted to fight Batman at his past because of the people were in the tanks. He wouldn’t have thought had his best and he would’ve held back and you really think Arkham Batman wouldn’t develop like hacking device to disable the tank. One of the Batmobile abilities is to disabled tanks.
As much as I loved this game when i first played it i feel like i didn't truly appreciate the graphical marvel that it is, and obviously this is because through time we've had too many games that failed to set standards. Arkham Knight is so ahead of its time this time that I don't even think it needs a big fancy remaster, just a polish in textures, lighting, & richer colors. its also a game that can live without ray tracing cuz everything still look so damn good, It has by far the greatest ocean physics ive ever seen, on top of that there's so much impressive lense flares and well done reflective rain that its almost neck & neck with a Cyberpunk, a 9 year old game will never look this good.
i freakin loved Arkam Knight. played it on PS4. ejoyed the Tank combat for the most part. and the game to this day sits in my top 10 games. for me it was a 9 out of 10 game.
I recently bought the Arkham collection, since I only played Arkham Origins and the standard edition of Arkham Knight years ago, but I didn't play Asylum or City. I know weird, but I got the Collection for 15€ and man is it money well spent. Finished Asylum and City and now I started Arkham Knight last night. I intend to 100% all three games, so Riddler will drive me insane.

Thanks to the suicide squad game, I finally went back to Arkham Knight after 8 years and I am trying to do a full run (I think it's called the 240%) it's really fun at times. So thanks for that I guess rocksteady
It is so true that Rocksteady had a lot of DLC with previous titles but I think most would agree that even though most of them are cosmetic, the game(s) were so good/fun that you wanted to buy them to show further support for the developers. This was true of a lot of older titles. Whether that money actually got to those responsible for actually making the great game(s) is debatable. To the gaming industries detriment there is now a majority in control who are (have been) abusing the good will of their customers for every cent to their name or preying on those with gambling addictions. As side tangent: I'd even go so far as to say the gaming industry has become a large proponent of youth developing gambling addiction. Things have absolutely gone off the rails within the gaming space and especially in the development/production of triple A titles and the publishers/studios responsible. Eventually things will course correct, sort of. Studios will close. People will lose their livelihoods. New studios will form, sometimes with a few of the old staff sometimes without, and make great games for a while. Then the cycle repeats. And every time the persons responsible for the studios downward spiral (sometimes a recurring villain!) will make bank and whisk themselves away on wings made of paper money, wearing crowns of platinum and gold inlaid with diamonds, wearing the finest silks like the absolute angels they are /s. ^Sadly the practice/cycle described isn't even original. It can be observed in several industries. Just a con of a higher level.

i have played batman arkham knight to story completion like 6 times, and ive 240%ed the game on one save, and after all of that i can still say that i liked suicide squad, i didnt think that i would like it at all, and i wasnt going to play it before: back when it was supposed to release last year, but after playing that alpha i was hooked, and i dont even play looter shooters, ive done over 100 hours in ssktjl so far and im still liking the combat and im currently replaying the story with one of my friends, while i agree that it doesn't have a lot of attention to detail and "dynamic" events that arkham knight did, i dont think thats a common criticism for this type of game, a fairly linear 4 player co-op open world looter shooter. I can see why they made the game the way that they did and while some aspects may not work the way i want them to i understand why they are the way that they are.
I actually really enjoyed thr bat tank just definitely was way over used, i think my biggest issue with it was the whole death stroke boss battle that felt disrespectful especially seeing what was done in orgins.

Just started playing this about a week ago and im really liking it so far It really seems like a well made game overall I've never really played anything quite like it and at first it was pretty overwhelming, complicated, hard to control etc But once i got the hang of it after a few days it started getting way more fun It's definitely a bad azz game And im not even a batman fan btw
I think Arkham knight has the best gameplay, maybe not the best story but i felt rocksteady mastered the fighting, graphics, etc. I think the Batmobile was a must but I do agree with the overuse of it for mission progress. This game aged well
I received a free copy of Arkham Knight with my brand new GTX970 when it came out, and I remember the absolute non-functioning state the game released in. Literally unplayable. I was so amazed by how awful it was I kept trying to play anyways. I clocked the game going at like 8 frames per minute at one point. It was crazy to see.
The other disappointing nitpick "wishlist" item i wanted in AK is to fly the BatWing because its constantly delivering things but never used for anything else. I like this game and boot it up every once in while for the visuals, presentation and combat challenges.
I was playing on my ps4 last night and noticed the grapple sounded wayyyy different! It was super muted and no winch sound I’m wondering if rocksteady is tweaking with the game since ssktjl launched….

Try it with "no counter icons" mod, fighting looks so much better while being harder. I'm replaying the whole Arkham series on hard with that mod and no upgrades to HP or armor :D Peak difficulty

@@TheRealBillix you don't need a mod, it's in NG+, if you don't plan on 100% the game then I guess sure the mod works for your first playthrough. I'm currently just having fun playing through Arkham Knight, about to do a side quest rn hold up

Well it got a lot of hate due to its pc port. I played it at launch on pc and it was pretty bad and got delisted from steam.

Suicide Squad drove me to reinstall Arkham Knight about a day after release. I went back to Suicide Squad once since then and it hard crashed after 20 minutes. Think I'm going to finally focus on an Arkham Knight Platinum trophy.
I loved Batmobile it made my child hood dream of full batman experience come to life !!! I have no complaints I also played it on pc few months back and I enjoyed it again with peak graphics , this game should go down in the list of some of the greatest game and greatest art , graphics and mission design in the history
Arkham Knight still looks better than most new Games coming out today.
They have some flaws but all Arkham Games are freakin masterpieces.

A big disappointment was the lack of NPC’s. We finally got Gotham, yet the residents were evacuated before the game starts. Sigh.

If I’m being honest I been having a lot of fun in suicide squad. I really love how each character has their own unique traversal and personalities. I also love the awesome boss rush of the Justice league. Although I would love to see a game with the same concept except we play as the Justice League.

I remember playing this game and when the bat tank got smashed in the tunnel I felt relieved. Then they brought the spare bat tank in the next scene and then I said damn it.

As someone who first played the Arkham games on switch I do wish I could experience Arkham Knight in all its graphical glory with rain bouncing off the cape etc. However the game is so much more than how good the graphics are. And even with how bad the port is it’s still my favorite of the three.
I started a new playthough on the ps4 version, and it still looks better than most modern games. 😂
I'm late to the video, but I'll mention this anyway. Cobra encounters can be completed a lot faster and much easier by using a LVL2 CPU virus on it. You can make them friendly. I don't think I've ever seen it happen, but I believe your Cobra can destroy the others outright. Sometimes the enemy Cobra will snap onto you from time to time, but you're completely safe otherwise
The rain getting flicked off the cape is only for that suit i think and doesn't happen to any other suit but i get your point and the game is on point except the cobra tanks
The Avengers data comparison is a bit of a reach. That game came out during covid where everyone was stuck in the house. Suicide Squad is by no means perfect, but it could’ve easily gotten similar player numbers
One thing id like to remind is that iron galaxy isn’t entirely at fault for the state of the Arkham knight port. They were only given 7 working days to port the game. Idk what happened with TLOU though
Iron Galaxy was also in charge of the PC port of Arkham Origins, the one that caused massive crashes and had lots of lots of bugs. I found out about that watching your Arkhamverse critique, my personal favourite 🦇❤

My biggest gripe is how much the story elements depend on the base Batmobile design and the tank mode, which absolutely kills the replay value for the DLC Batmobiles.

I’ve recently been replaying the Arkham trilogy and Origins and I’ve never felt so betrayed by a video game company for even associating SSKTJL with the OG Batman games
Up until recently this game was so criminally underrated.
It was never underrated, just the very loud people on social media made more noise about the things they didnt like about it
Arkham Knight is soooo good! I played for the first time last year with Xbox Cloud. The cloud doesn't provide the best performance (not close) but even so I was so impressed! The game is soo good that I couldn't complain about the fair criticism people make. I just couldn't stop playing it. I couldn't sleep because I wanted to keep playing all night long. I'll never forget this experience and I'll never stop hyping up Batman Arkham Knight. So ahead of it's time... Gotham is beautiful! The sounds, the darkness, the way you can hear the enemies talk, the bat creature making those scary noises, the freedom to fly with Batman, the sound of the batmobile's engine... Perfect!
Suicide squads world looks like Fortnite compared to Arkham Knights
Suicide squad even made me appreciate gotham knights. Doing duel takedowns with friends and watching more unique animations makes that game better in itself. + it has stealth.

First of all the reason why Arkham Knight didn’t put his men in the tanks was because he wanted to fight Batman at his past because of the people were in the tanks. He wouldn’t have thought had his best and he would’ve held back and you really think Arkham Batman wouldn’t develop like hacking device to disable the tank. One of the Batmobile abilities is to disabled tanks.
As much as I loved this game when i first played it i feel like i didn't truly appreciate the graphical marvel that it is, and obviously this is because through time we've had too many games that failed to set standards.
Arkham Knight is so ahead of its time this time that I don't even think it needs a big fancy remaster, just a polish in textures, lighting, & richer colors. its also a game that can live without ray tracing cuz everything still look so damn good, It has by far the greatest ocean physics ive ever seen, on top of that there's so much impressive lense flares and well done reflective rain that its almost neck & neck with a Cyberpunk, a 9 year old game will never look this good.
i freakin loved Arkam Knight. played it on PS4. ejoyed the Tank combat for the most part. and the game to this day sits in my top 10 games. for me it was a 9 out of 10 game.

I recently bought the Arkham collection, since I only played Arkham Origins and the standard edition of Arkham Knight years ago, but I didn't play Asylum or City. I know weird, but I got the Collection for 15€ and man is it money well spent. Finished Asylum and City and now I started Arkham Knight last night. I intend to 100% all three games, so Riddler will drive me insane.

I’ve been playing Arkham knight for 9 years.
Thanks to the suicide squad game, I finally went back to Arkham Knight after 8 years and I am trying to do a full run (I think it's called the 240%) it's really fun at times. So thanks for that I guess rocksteady
It is so true that Rocksteady had a lot of DLC with previous titles but I think most would agree that even though most of them are cosmetic, the game(s) were so good/fun that you wanted to buy them to show further support for the developers. This was true of a lot of older titles. Whether that money actually got to those responsible for actually making the great game(s) is debatable. To the gaming industries detriment there is now a majority in control who are (have been) abusing the good will of their customers for every cent to their name or preying on those with gambling addictions. As side tangent: I'd even go so far as to say the gaming industry has become a large proponent of youth developing gambling addiction.
Things have absolutely gone off the rails within the gaming space and especially in the development/production of triple A titles and the publishers/studios responsible. Eventually things will course correct, sort of. Studios will close. People will lose their livelihoods. New studios will form, sometimes with a few of the old staff sometimes without, and make great games for a while. Then the cycle repeats. And every time the persons responsible for the studios downward spiral (sometimes a recurring villain!) will make bank and whisk themselves away on wings made of paper money, wearing crowns of platinum and gold inlaid with diamonds, wearing the finest silks like the absolute angels they are /s.
^Sadly the practice/cycle described isn't even original. It can be observed in several industries. Just a con of a higher level.

I loved batmobile in arkham knight and to this day I don't understand why people dislike it. final Deathstroke boss fight could be better without tanks and drones but I can't see any other reason. I'm car guy tho... maybe huge afterburner and tire scratching is doing things to me
i have played batman arkham knight to story completion like 6 times, and ive 240%ed the game on one save, and after all of that i can still say that i liked suicide squad, i didnt think that i would like it at all, and i wasnt going to play it before: back when it was supposed to release last year, but after playing that alpha i was hooked, and i dont even play looter shooters, ive done over 100 hours in ssktjl so far and im still liking the combat and im currently replaying the story with one of my friends, while i agree that it doesn't have a lot of attention to detail and "dynamic" events that arkham knight did, i dont think thats a common criticism for this type of game, a fairly linear 4 player co-op open world looter shooter. I can see why they made the game the way that they did and while some aspects may not work the way i want them to i understand why they are the way that they are.

I actually really enjoyed thr bat tank just definitely was way over used, i think my biggest issue with it was the whole death stroke boss battle that felt disrespectful especially seeing what was done in orgins.

It really seems like a well made game overall
I've never really played anything quite like it and at first it was pretty overwhelming, complicated, hard to control etc
But once i got the hang of it after a few days it started getting way more fun

I think Arkham knight has the best gameplay, maybe not the best story but i felt rocksteady mastered the fighting, graphics, etc. I think the Batmobile was a must but I do agree with the overuse of it for mission progress. This game aged well
I received a free copy of Arkham Knight with my brand new GTX970 when it came out, and I remember the absolute non-functioning state the game released in. Literally unplayable. I was so amazed by how awful it was I kept trying to play anyways. I clocked the game going at like 8 frames per minute at one point. It was crazy to see.

The other disappointing nitpick "wishlist" item i wanted in AK is to fly the BatWing because its constantly delivering things but never used for anything else. I like this game and boot it up every once in while for the visuals, presentation and combat challenges.
I was playing on my ps4 last night and noticed the grapple sounded wayyyy different! It was super muted and no winch sound I’m wondering if rocksteady is tweaking with the game since ssktjl launched….
This game was really cool back then. even with its biggest flaw, the boss battles. Fighting against the Arkham Knight and Deathstroke in special. What a massive letdown
