I have been playing percussion for 60 years and I am learning from bongo boys tone bank and finger rudiments.. fast flying fingers and very good dynamic changes. An inspiration I welcome.
@@BongoboyUK yeah, just checked one out. I knew you'd be amazing at it. I've been dabbling in cajon and bongo for a while, but am just about to plunge into conga too. I enjoy your different approach. The more styles I see, the more I find myself.
@@luciansamosata5977 thanks again!! 😁 Definitely find your own style. I've had a few purists dislike my style, but I've made it my own and enjoy it! Dare to be different 😉

Bongos allways are like: we are here and we are ready when ever you are. Just come and get us. And suddenly i realize, that i am allready playing them while wanting to get them...
Thanks! The skin on my hands is quite tough from the years of abuse, but they still sometimes hurt at louder gigs! You've just got to know your limit, and know that you don't have to hit the drums that hard to make a nice sound :)
Oh me too! Still sad that I got rid of them 😣 they were goat skin, so the same as the bongos - they were nice and thin so had a really nice ring to them 😊
Unfortunately not - it's not just that I don't have time to (which I don't as I work full time), it's also that I wouldn't know where to start as I'm self-taught and don't use traditional techniques, so it's difficult for even me to figure out what I'm doing!

Indeed you did! I loved how the hembra sounded when tuned low, and equally how the quinto sounded tuned high! Plus the sound of having a pair of congas tuned in the same orientation as the bongos, with overlapping pitch is awesome and I love it - especially with these congas as they had such thin skins!
Thanks very much! These are Toca Players Series congas & bongos. There's coming up to 20 years old, and I don't actually have them anymore, so no idea how much they'd cost nowadays!
Correct me: I think playing this is Easy.... for me only because I play drums since years and I have knowledge about beats and stuff.... the only thing I need to learn is to play the Bongo.... And you play *Really GoOd* I mean ur beats are Smooth I say
Thanks very much! :D Yeah, having a sense of rhythm is key - I've played drums my whole life, so beats come easy to me. The main struggle with bongos is the technique hitting them. Now, I don't play in the most traditional way, but I know how to hit a bongo without hurting myself! I practiced for years just by hitting any surface infront of me (including school tables, which a few of my teachers didn't appreciate!), and eventually you get a feel for it. +rockinjon1 Thanks! These are actually my old congas - they have Toca goat skin heads. The ones on my new ones are a lot nicer - they're Meinl buffalo skin heads! They sound beautiful. Haven't had a chance to record a proper video with those yet though. You might need to try retuning them - but if that doesn't work, getting new skins. The only thing is, they're a pain to put on. Usually if you completely detune them and actually take them off and then put them back on it gives them a completely different sound.
