    I just performed this procedure on our 2014 Jeep Patriot. I left the CD ribbon plug alone and just moved the CD aside. I used a hair dryer on the hottest setting while holding the black square down. I alternated the heat on then moved away-on move away several times without keeping constant heat on the part. The radio is working now. Thanks for your detailed video on the repair!

      That's why my Jeep Patriot radio is only working when the car is parked in the summer hot sun all day...
      Car Dealer says it has to be changed for a new radio...
      $400 + 15% taxes (Canadian) + their time. 😢
      And it takes 2 weeks for the dealer to receive the radio.

      I'm gonna try that! I got as far as down to the piece that needed to be heated up and I was like shoot...I don't have that tool 😂. What's weird is my connection randomly goes in and out. At first it was just the tuner (AM/FM) but then the volume wouldn't work at times and nothing worked. I was thinking Mayne it is the wires for the antenna connection. Gonna rip it apart and try again

    This was a project I held off for almost a year. I just dreaded the situation... It was either give this a try or replace the unit for an outrageous price... Your video was very insightful and was exactly what was wrong with the radio in a relative's 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. Your guide was very simple to follow and the "re-flow" process did the job. To conclude my mini-novel, I just wanted to say thanks immensely for sharing.

    Hey thanks so much for this video! The dealer wanted $800 to replace the radio in my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. This fix totally worked for me and I just used a regular pain-stripper heat gun (only a few seconds each side) but it did the trick. Thanks so much Cai! Really appreciate this. Just wanted to say "Thank you". I did not have the specialized device that you recommended. I improvised - I used a hair dryer set on hot and a wooden spoon to push on the chip. It worked great. Mine is a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT.
    I then got inspired and decide to "modernize" the van a little.'
    I bought a blue tooth receiver (like < $3 on ebay) that plugs into the AUX input and now I can play audio from my phone onto the radio. I also put a dashcam recorder (over the mirror) and a backup camera (all under $50). It all worked well. Thank you, again.

I recently ran an odb2 scan (blue driver software) and was surprised it showed that the antenna signal on the radio was weak (probably need to make sure it fits well) . I did this repair yesterday and it worked great. However, this afternoon my volume control randomly stopped working. The volume goes down but not up. Could that be related to the fix?

    • @yaboycai9578
      @yaboycai9578  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think that would be a related of the fix because I had the volume not when before I fixed it then it worked fine

    • @jaygosch8705
      @jaygosch8705 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure, but I had that problem with my '99 Grand AM one morning. It was weird - the volume went up when I tried to turn it down and it went up when I tried to turn it up. After a few tries it was so loud I had to turn the radio off! I got it working by leaving the radio off and turning the volume knob up and down a bunch of times. Must have had some dirt in the control.

    My 2016 started losing my fm to the point now that it's all static, my am was still working and now that's on the fritz. My bluetooth isn't staying connected. I bought the tool on Amazon for 44 bucks. I have a solder station and have wanted the heat gun for shrink tubing anyway so great excuse to get it. If this works I'll have saved hundreds of dollars! For those worried.... you really have nothing to lose! It'll still be a piece of junk. Better to try and fail than not have tried at all! As another video pointed out if you look all the other components are sealed to the board except this chip. That's called intended obsolescence.... its designed to fail so you buy a new one or have the dealer "fix" it.
    Thank you for this video! I'll update how I make out this weekend! Thank you!

    This video instructions work. I have a 2017 Wrangler. I took it to the dealer and said the radio doesn't work. They charged me $175 to tell me the radio doesn't work and were going to charge me $795 for a new radio (less the $175). I decided to look online for a fix and your video perfectly diagnosed the problem. I didn't have a heat gun but used my wife's hair dryer. Presto. Working radio.
