    I was 13 when "Woodstock" happened. This Boogie turned me onto what music was really all about. Now, all these years later, with many concerts in my past I must say It Doesn't Get Better Than This! Woodstock was a One Time event that can never be repeated...

      You were really lucky to have seen Canned Heat perform. Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson died the year following Woodstock, followed by The Bear just a few years later. Canned Heat was what Rock 'n Roll was all about. Peace

      I lived in the the Santa Cruz mountains near a house they stayed in when they needed a quiet place to relax from whatever concert tour they had been on and there was a little neighborhood club at the bottom of the hill where they would join other San Francisco band occasionally and have jam sessions and rock out until everyone was just so tired that they would just fall out and sleep off whatever their high of choice was

      That's where Allen Wilson honed his Solo guitar 🎸 talents

    I bought the whole concert on dvd. Alot of great musicians played. Over 500,000 attended many ppl maybe even a million jus a sea of heads in a open field listening to music in harmony sharing their things water food and drugs. But no violence ever really happened..except a few rapes that occured. A fire or two.
    But for the most part it was
    3 days of love peace and music

    And it sounded fantastic now keep in mind this was open air concert choppers flying around over head and it was 1969 and the sound was simple fantastic,truly the stage was 250 feet wide and 50 feet tall of speakers pack in rows of 10 feet wide 50 tall every 20 feet there was another set just awesome set up
    something like the the Stones Had On There Steel Wheel Tour in 1089,I was there also 1 million dollars set up.

    The debate over who played better boogie music 🎼 than canned Heat started soon after ZZTOP really took control of rock music in the 70's and 80's and might never be settled in some people's minds on either side of that debate hell I was and still am a big time fan of both and the only thing that makes me choose one over the other is my mood at the time and whether I want to remember my hippie days or my biker days and the music I listened to during either time period

  • @havitcold
    @havitcold 11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    They created the boogie that's the best one I think. Better than La Grange, I like the "feel" canned heat gets with this boogie its really a smooth cruisin' jam. They were great!

    YES YES I FOUND IT!!! It is thin lizzy, song called Emerald: after he sings "Without it they could not leave", look it up at the live version from the album Live and Dangerous on youtube, there it starts at 1:42. Though this is pure bass, and thin lizzy plays it with a regular guitar, but it is pretty much exactly the same for like 10 sec. or so :D, awesome!

After decades of not hearing it, i was airplaying right along with the bass and drum solos! Echos from years past all the way to the pun 'a warm thanks to Canned Heat'!!

    I wish someone would post the entire thing on youtube.I think it's anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes long.I hate to have to go out and buy the full 6 C.D. set to hear 1 thing.Oh yea, thanks for loading this!

  • @Eflat7sharp9
    @Eflat7sharp9 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @ScottyNapaa this was recorded in the studio for the woodstock soundtrack and then doctored to sound live, i'm guessing because the people putting together the album didn't want a 40 minute boogie taking up 2 sides of an LP on the soundtrack. the box set has the actual, full length boogie played at woodstock, the only time canned heat played woodstock (that i know of).

  • @ScottyNapaa
    @ScottyNapaa  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jwjeffrey to be honest i dont think this is actually from woodstock, like a lot of others on youtube. i got this from a friend who got it off limewire and it was named 'woodstock boogie' so thats what i called it. any idea how many times canned heat played at woodstock?

    @Eflat7sharp9 ah yes i think you might have got it mate. however im still a bit doubtful considering this song goes for 13.49 while it goes for 12.55 on Woodstock 2. may i ask how you know about this recording? do you actually have woodstock 2? is it the same? thanks

  • @gekalskip
    @gekalskip 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    nah it's not it, does look like it, but i remember this as exactly the same. You could copy and paste this part into the song which im thinking of, which i still don't know, really frustrating :P. Thinking it's something of either iron maiden, black sabbath or thin lizzy, definately not zz top.
