Joie! I'm watching them again because I learned so much the first time around, I just needed to watch again to see what I missed! Thinking of you and wishing you well. Miss you and hope you will be back with us again soon. Catherine
You are very welcome Junique Studio, and yes indeed, easy and simple! Lots of fun too 😁 I am delighted to see you here, hope to chat again soon, maybe hear about your own craft projects. Joie 🌿💜
I've been looking into starting a junk journal and couldn't find the right channel to show me how then I stumbled onto this channel. I'm definitely subscribing! Can't wait to binge watch all your videos.
That's so lovely to hear, thank you very much. Welcome to my channel! I like to keep things simple and fun 😁 Looking forward to chatting again, and to hearing about your progress. Take care, Joie 🌿💜
I found this short step by step video to be very easy to understand! Thank you! I loved seeing one of the journals you actually wrote in at the beginning! I hope to one day start making my own journals!
I have wanted to try doing a junk journal for some time now. I have lots of supplies, but am finding that I'm nervous to jump in! :) But this is the simplest one that I've see and think it will be perfect to start with one like this. Thank you!!
Good morning, Joie. As I've been rewatching your videos, I've been reminded to pull things out, such as magazine pages. As to that music paper, my first question would be 'If I don't incorporate any of this into a journal, what am I going to do with it? Will I enjoy it more in a journal or in its original form. I hope that helps. I'm featuring you on my channel all this month. on 6/7/23 I'm talking about covers and page selection. I hope this finds you feeling well. Hugs & Creative Blessings!
This was great! I love how you turned the extra parts into pockets or edges rather than cutting them. I agree when I have some pages like your music paper it's hard for me to but I just love the look of vintage music paper that's when I just have to dive in. Looking forward to next week.tfs
Thanks Pippa, some of the supplies can be quite costly. I guess I craft in a way that hopefully we can all have a go at. And it's about fun after all. Take care Pippa, joie xxx
I feel the same way about certain books and pages but what I do is if it's in black and white I simply photo copy it onto whatever paper color I may and I can use them over and over again. Hope this helps! Love your journals!🤗❤❤❤
Splendid idea, welcome Ginny!! I'm just editing another video...making a seasonal Autumn Junk Journal. Hopefully you'll enjoy that one too 😁 hugs from me, joie 💜🌿
Thank you Joie for making it easy to do and understand. I didn’t get the point of junk journaling when all I saw were there great masterpieces I would be afraid to touch, let alone write in. You, in your videos, have made me get the point and it’s when you make your own, that’s when it’s fun. Anyway, after watching this video a few times I did it. I gathered some papers and found some really nice ones and put it together. Small...the cover is 8” square unfolded (about 20 cm-I cheated and looked on the ruler) but anyway it looks pretty good. Thank you again. I would never have done this without you.
I am absolutely delighted to hear this.... it's heartwarming. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me about it. And definitely keep me posted as you fill your new journal....and then make a new one!! Joie ❣️🌿😀
Thanks so much for the shout out!!! :))) Loved watching your process for making these! The Music paper: Use the originals keeping in mind that if you leave it on your shelf, how often will you actually take it out and look at it??? How many of these are just trashed or are buried in boxes or covered in dust to never be seen again. Using them should bring you joy! If you still can't bring yourself to use them, make copies and use those....:)
I agree. It will not have much meaning to anyone else yet will make a stunning bunch of pages and embellishments for your beautiful journals and for us all to appreciate as well in their new lives. I've been hunting for a music book to use.
@@joiedefi me too... hymnals, music books, dictionaries, cherished children's books & bibles, teaching books and on and on....all having personally belonged to my mom and dad who passed away a bit over 2 years ago (w/i 16 days of each other.) BUT...there's never a right or wrong way to do anything. You do YOU! Hugs!
Hi Joie!!! I caught the tail end of your premiere and am coming back to watch the upload. That Lowland River page is drool-worthy. I love watching you flipping through pages and listening to your thought process for creating your gorgeous junk journals. Your Mendelssohn music book pages could make a handsome background for some of your watercolor work, Joie! Clever to make a folder out of the extra paper for your cover and internal pages. Thank you for participating in my live streams , Joie! It is wonderful having your there, Hugs to you and have a super weekend.
I'm very pleased to be in your streams. I had a couple of thoughts, just ideas, for your channel, based on some things that I have learned along the way. So perhaps we might share those via messenger sometime. Just ideas, you can of course ignore. :) xxx Maybe chat later in the week.
Being and older video- not sure you will see this comment. But I must tell you this is the best video I’ve watched on making a junk journal. I’m now subscribed. TYS Janet
Thank you for this step-by-step video. You have helped remove the intimidation factor of trying a hand at a new (for me) craft project. Soooo much appreciated.
Hi Joie🖐🏻🤚🏻I’m glad I could jump in to watch the live. I had to come back to watch the rest. It was so nice to see your process. The journal turned out beautiful.. TFS 💕😊🐚gracie
That's fantastic to hear Gracie....but more importantly.... how was your family do? Was lovely when you popped up in the chat😁 hope to see you again soon. Joie ❣️🌿
This journal turned out great! I am amazed at all the different ways people sew the pamphlet stitch, but they all work and look great!!!!!! Thank you for your great video. I bought a box of old music book and two of them were obviously used for weddings. I cannot use them either...I think they are organ music. They look beautiful!!! I guess you and I could copy our music and still use it that way!!!!!!
this video is just what i’ve been looking for! an easy junk journal with pockets! thanks so much for the step by step instructions! i can’t wait to see the next video for extras to add!🙌😍❤️
Gathering supplies for my daughter's 25th birthday 🎂 to get her started. I feel like this is an art for self exploration and expression that will be relaxing and encorage down time for self-care. I found your Beginners Guide helpful. I'm creating a scavenger hunt for her together her supplies & a special gift. ✍️ 🎨 🪡 🧵 🎀 Thank you
I am one that never likes to take apart books, so I can identify with your being hesitant about your music book! That being said, I was lucky enough to come across four music books at my local thrift store, which I bought quickly. They were all German orchestra music, which I really like because there were no words, just musical notes. One book was incredibly old, and it did hurt me to cut into it, but I did! I figured that I bought it for that reason. The books are like the one you have too. You might ease into it by just cutting one page and go from there?
I can picture those books....yummy! I'll try your suggested approach....good idea. Thanks for the return visit Jo Anne, great to see you here again! Take care, happy crafting, joie xxx
And yes the Henry Terry book pages are beautiful, even I thought that they would make a nice cover for a new journal when I felt the texture of the pages. 🙂😍
Thanks a lot for your wunderful videos. I am a beginner in this world and i am 57 can not say how mutch i enjoy that now all my lovely stuff become a home. And not only a home, a beautiful home as well. Sorry for my english i am from germany.
Your English is fine!! Welcome 😁💜 I am delighted to meet you and to hear that you are enjoying my videos and playing with paper. Have a lovely weekend C. Capri 👍🏻🌿 joie🍄
I really like your creativity and craftsmanship. My current "stash" is mostly travel info I've saved from different trips. Maps, brochures, coasters., menus, receipts etc. I get so much because this is the type of paper memorabilia I enjoy. Maybe I will try to make a junk journal for each trip, rather than a detailed travel journal or scrap book....then just print out photos to go on top of the pages or in the pockets and do minimal journaling on some tags. I am trying to figure out how to catch up with my travels, and scrapbooking or travel journals seem even more elaborate. Have you ever done a specific-trip-junk-journal?
That collection of ephemera sounds great. I haven't done a specific travel related Journal, but I've just made a Journal for a specific person to reflect who she is, her personality and her hobbies. As long as you enjoy what you're doing it doesn't really matter what you do or how....i look forward to hearing more about your next steps, keep me posted!! Joie ❣️🌿
I have just started making journals for my first ever . Thanks to you . Well I must say I'm already obsessed with it . I am a reader love books . Joie, fantastic videos. Your creations are gorgeous, I also love the way you speak, it’s very soothing. Grateful for your shoutouts too (I don’t have a channel), just really like finding great artists. Thank you 😊💜
I discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and I am totally addicted. I’ve yet to make my first journal, but thanks for getting me ready with instructions and inspiration.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that Curiosity rocks ❣️ I'm thinking of doing another one for my next video, something really calming for these current challenging times. Sending you best wishes, stay safe. Joie 🌿💜
Awww Evi, thank you!! I've got another one like this out on Tuesday, feel free to join in the chat when it Premières...7pm. I can introduce you to other crafters in the chat box 😁💜 joie 🌿
ADORE!!! learned tons...and you made it look so easy! can't wait to back to this, but "working" on another project...if i were working at all! GOOD STUFF, girl!
This is so helpful Joie, thank you for sharing all these great books for inspiration and your lovely journal tutorial. I recently bought an old music book from the very large Antiques and Collectors fair on Newark Showground. The book is called Mazurkas von Chopin and is not dated but thought to be from the 1890s. I told the seller what I wanted it for and how I’d feel very reluctant to pull out it’s pages and cut it up. He told me that all the books he has for too long that don’t sell are sent away to be pulped and many end up like that, especially old music books. The Chopin book is beautiful, aged with golden brown pages and a hard red cover and cost just £2.00. So, I began pulling pages from the back to begin my preservation of them in the junk journals I intend to make. Since doing that however, I found a similar book online valued at £20.00, so although not valuable it’s still a lot more than I paid for mine, so something to bear in mind. Hope this helps you with the lovely Mendelssohn book.
I like Sally Johnson's idea for the music pages. I have made journals like this before, but never with various sizes of pages. It looks great. I will have to give it a go. Thanks.
I had to comment! I am hooked! I have watched a lot of videos about starting a junk or art journal and I love your videos the best! Keep them coming! Thank you so much!
Wow, you really made me smile today!! I think you might like my next video then ( this Friday). I'm decorating one of these Junk Journals...it is an addiction, yessss!!!!! Welcome to my channel, oh, I love your avatar 😁👍💜🌿
Lovely easy tutorial to follow. The music sheets are beautiful; I would probably photo copy them (if able to) and use these, storing originals for use always.
Thank you; it's good to hear that it was easy to follow. Good idea re the music paper. And thanks for sharing your thoughts, I always like to hear what you think. Hope to see you soon!! Take care, joie xx
I absolutely will try this. I have several antique books I can’t bring myself to use too. I. Glad to see you found your bone folder. I lost my scissors for a week, lol
Thank you so much for showing how you did the process. Loved it! I have watched a lot of videos. While they are all wonderful. The process was what I was looking for. As a beginner junk journal lady. I have subscribed. Can't wait for the next step. TYFS
Awesome!! Thank you so much, and a huge welcome to my channel. I'm editing another like this at the moment... with better camera angles to get close to the papers. Will be up on my channel in a week 😁 Take care Linda, happy crafting, Joie 💜🌿
I so enjoyed the calmness of your voice. I like how you binded the book also. I am new to journaling and now I am going to sit and watch your tutorials.
Amazing tutorial; it's so fantastic, cute, fabulous and marvelous journal. I want to make one. I really like the way you show how to do, it so easy. Thanks for sharing. Happy day!
And a Happy Day to you too Mara!! Welcome to my channel where we make junk and art journaling fun and easy. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. 💜 Joie 🌿
unfortunately I've been really busy lately, so busy that I dont have time to do my craft time, but listen to your voice in all your tutorial while I'm working at home become like a music for me..
Thank you Joie! I really appreciate seeing you choose the papers for your journal. I tried using real junk mail, however, the result was not what I wanted. It did give me practice in the binding together process. I love the look you have achieved! With more knowledge now, I’ll choose again. 😀
Keryn O'Keeffe Save your true "junk" journal...someone pointed out you can use it for an art journal to experiment in since you can't ruin junk! No fear journal play, lol. Throw some paint, dribble it, splatter it...test color combos, etc. Have fun.
I know what you mean; it's about getting the balance right around the degree of "junkiness"...so you are right, I did try to mix with other papers. Practicing the binding process is definitely useful. Thanks for visiting and commenting! joie xx
Thank you for answering my previous comment and sending me to this video, I'm very grateful. You make things seem very simple, so simple, even I can give it a go. I have subscribed to your channel, mainly because your decorated pages in some of your other videos are gorgeous. I love how brave you are with watercolour paint on the book pages. Thank you again for sharing your creativity and helping out a novice 🤗
Well from a fellow novice, who is just experimenting, playing with paper and paint, a big thank you to you. It's comments like yours which really boost me, helping me to do the next video. Very much appreciated. And you can definitely do it 👍🏻 😁💜 joie 🌿
Ty for the Simple step by step. Most others are so complicated and make it seem like u have to be a pro or use top notch art supply store bought items lol yours is beautiful and yet using things u already may have. Ty 😊
Thank you ever so much for sharing your tips..I’m just starting out. I’ve got lots of books, I’m an artist (sort of), but feel a bit more confident with your tutelage 💕🇨🇦
Well that's absolutely wonderful to hear, thank you for your kind words. Sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun playing with paper and making journals!! 😁😁 Welcome to my channel. 💜 Joie 🌿
When I get papers I absolutely cant part with I scan them. this way I have so many more options. Keeping the original intact for me to keep somewhere special
Sorry I missed on Saturday!! Have a very sick pup on my hands 😔 I don't think I could tear into the music book either. Maybe scan?? Loved how you kept the ripped edge of the scrapbook paper and made it into a pocket!! ❤️
I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. They are totally members of our family.....I hope that he/she recovers soon. I have a one year old Border Terrier... totally understand. Best wishes to you all....speedy recovery. Joie 🌿💜
joie de fi she has been diagnosed with diabetes, no cure but manageable. 2 shots a day of insulin exactly 12 hours apart will certainly cause some lifestyle changes ( I had to set an alarm for the morning one!!!) Hopefully we can get her stabilized, it has been quite overwhelming to say the least. But she is my baby so we will forge ahead!!!❤️
Oh Maureen, I'm sorry to hear that. I know that you are totally committed, but I also recognise that it represents a significant shift as you say. But we love them.... what else can we do.....I'm thinking of you. 💜❣️
You're very welcome Gladilyn. It's all about easy and fun on this channel 😁 Thanks for popping by, and for taking the time to comment! See you soon I hope, joie 🌿💜
I am getting the itch to create another junk journal. I haven’t for a few years. I love making them and seeing so many ways of creating them. A travelers note book size may be a perfect re-boot. I have all along continued to gather bits and bobs to put in them. My only bother is I have my stuff between two places in the lower level as my craft space.. SIGH. I will have to get it figured out. Thank you for sharing.
How exciting Kristie!! Well I'm reading your comment 6 minutes after you left it, so maybe you are still cutting and trimming and sewing your papers into your travelers notebook:) Keep me posted on your progress, take care! joie xx

That's very helpful and I didn't know that happened to such lovely books. Wow, we learn!!💜
I love your wonderful way of organizing what you have an idea to work with, then, plan and work as you go. Such a joy to watch. Beautiful ideas, too.
Thank you Nancy, that's really great feedback, joie xxx
I like Sally Johnson's idea for the music pages. I have made journals like this before, but never with various sizes of pages. It looks great. I will have to give it a go. Thanks.
I think size variation is easier, but I'd be interested to know how you feel after giving it a go. It's whatever you feel like doing really. 💜👍🏻

Oh no Yvette.... sorry to hear that. I hope the video is in some way a helpful distraction 💜
I like to copy book pages when the books are really special, then I can re-use the images, preserving the book. Very nice video!
Thanks so much
Just found this video and can't wait to try it out. Thanks so much for showing us newbies how fun and easy it is.

Lovely easy tutorial to follow. The music sheets are beautiful; I would probably photo copy them (if able to) and use these, storing originals for use always.

I love your videos. Thank you!
It's my pleasure Jo Ray... welcome to my channel!! Joie 🌿💜😁
Thanks for visiting and commenting! joie xx
What a great philosophy, creative freedom, I love it!! Thank you Gina!!
I’ve just started out in the world of junk journaling and I’m hooked already. I can’t wait to make lots of beautiful journals 😊

When I get papers I absolutely cant part with I scan them. this way I have so many more options. Keeping the original intact for me to keep somewhere special
Great idea....and a good way of moving forwards and getting the most out of our stash. Thanks for sharing...😁👍🏻 Take care, Joie ❣️
Finally I know what to do with all those old books from Middleschool ^^
Indeed 😁 So much fun!! Joie 💜🌿

🥰💜😁
Love the knitting pattern book, what. Great find!
Truly vintage!! :) joie xxx
Sounds like a great idea Cynthia.... It's always such a satisfying project. I like TN sized journals. Something rather special about that size. 👍💜
Beautiful vintage knitting book. Thanks for the inspiration!🙂💗
Hi Pam, thank you...yes, what a find that knitting book was 😁 and you're welcome! Joie 🌿💜
These are great so simple yet so handy and pretty, as always love your work Joie. Hugs Susanna xx
Always great to see you Susanna, and thank you!! joie xx
I love your videos. I am making 2 travelers notebooks right now and used your videos for a guide!
How exciting Kristie!! Well I'm reading your comment 6 minutes after you left it, so maybe you are still cutting and trimming and sewing your papers into your travelers notebook:) Keep me posted on your progress, take care! joie xx
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Corinne, great to see you again:) xx
