Ever driving a Stonic? Not a bad car but i would prefer the Seat. Had a test drive in a Stonic most describing sentence would probably be "Quite good but *flimsy*"
I actually own this car, red body with a black roof and it’s great to drive. Only tiny complaint I have is with the placement of the cup holders, if you have a flask in there for example it can get in the way of the handbrake. Other than that’s I love it

We just bought the Stonic 2 to replace a 2009 Mazda 3 Sport and despite is being effectively a base model I prefer it. Its cheap to run and insure, it drives nicely enough and whilst it might be a bit down on power over the Mazda it does the job, its got enough to confidently over take tractors on country roads or blast past people who think joining a dual carriageway at 30 mph is acceptable. The 2 has everything I wanted -DAB radio, Apple Car Play and cruise control, the rest I don't care about - haven't missed climate control or heated seats which are so over rated. Not a KIA fanboy either, first time I've considered one after years of being given them as courtesy cars from Mazda and hating the way they drove, this latest generation it much nicer.
I quite like the interior it looks youthful and fresh, but the yellow-ish roof . . . Uh-uh it gives me headache 😵 Edit: and thank you for the "center console wiggle test" every Kia needs to passed carwow center console wiggle test
The car doesn't look that spectacular, but it's nice to drive and makes a good first impression from the inside. Gear shift is a problem in a lot of smaller cars, but here it's very easy, intuitive and smooth. I liked it from the beginning when I drove it.
I have a new Rio with this trim. Tested the Stonic and it back to back, Rio is basically the same car but much cheaper and it has the same equipment. Get it and save yourself 5k.
Ive got the Gt line version of this right now doesn't have heated seats. But it seems to have a lithium battery in the boot so must be a sort of mild hybrid. It has a better screen. Its bigger and all the buttons are along the bottom. The boot is tiny really. And i dont think its any taller than a mk2 ford focus.
I have the 1.4 and I have to say its a bit underpowered, Im getting around 39 to 40mpg but the 1ltr 3 cldr was even worse, saying that the car is very comfortable to drive on a daily basis infotainment system is easy to use. All round its a comfortable car. Rear view mirror gets in the way quite a lot. There is a lip in the boot but do you want your luggage sliding out when you open the boot?
I bought 1.4 Manual and I am really content with it as well! It sits very well on the road.. I don't know about the touchscreen thought, mine works perfectly.. its fast and everything (I am usually quite picky about the touchscreens and response rates) however mine does not have NAV and I am using apple car play, it works very well with it.

Matt -- SUV stands for a small Utility Vehicle( not a big LR or Willys) for outdoor SPORTS loving people. The " S "in the SUV is for outdoor sporting activities (for sports loving people) -- NOT " sporty" as a sports car. Calling a vehicle with a 4x4 and high ground clearance Sporty is an oxymoron. A proper SUV should be able to carry a few surf boards and other paraphernalia, and able to drag a trailer loaded with jet Ski or an Inflatable boat along a beach-- The whole point of having a capable 4x4 system with increased ground clearance. That's what the original manufacturer, Suzuki meant when they marketed the first SUV. If a vehicle cannot pull a trailer loaded with a jet ski on a sandy beach, it ain't an SUV !. To do that a vehicle should have a differential lock and a LOW- Range transfer case. If a vehicle doesn't have differential lock, and a low- range transfer case -- it is NOT an SUV. I am shocked at the ignorance ( or cunning marketing ploy?) of all involved calling every hatchback with a slightly raised ride height an SUV.
I don't get this con about rear viper blade. Realistically, you are going to use viper when there is rain or dirt on rear window. If there is rain, you wont even notice the "watermarks" as rain is going to wash it away. If there is a dirt, your car is already messy anyways and you should wash car.
@arthursuttie424 not just the seat belt it beeps for everything. Door open, ignition on. Lights on. If the back seats are down mine tells me to check back seats. To start you have to press clutch brake and be in neutral, or it beeps.
Remember: A car having beeps and other noices is extreamly important! Abled people can't seem to understand it though. Most things that are made accessible end up not being actually kept as such because they are annoying for abled people. Or atleast a fuckton of things are that way. For a blind or a hard of hearing individual these things are extreamly important and it's very good car manufacturers are doing these things even if they don't originally mean to! *Cars aren't just driven by perfectly healthy people. Cars aren't just used solely by perfectly healthy people. Unfortunatly for abled people, family members and people with disabilities need cars and as families we need to purchase ones that can accomodate us. We can't make ourselves accomodate the car.* Rant over. _Context: my mother is blind-deaf by multiple proggressive illnesses since birth, can legally drive, but doesn't at the moment. This is just a small hinderance in terms of severe disabilities, but it makes her -and inturn my - life very, very difficult._

It's also a scale and in this context I'm using it to describe a large pool of people with different conditions, illnesses and states of sight. My mother is mostly blind, but can still see enough to be a safe driver. She has never been at fault in accidents for example and has glasses. Still as a precaution because of her lack for hearing we like to have a passenger these days. For context she looses 80% of her hearing without the aids. Of course completely blind people cannot drive, but some people with a bad eyesight can still do so. For our family personally being able to drive in very important for several reasons. One of which is to be able to care for my grandmother and her property which is in the middle of nowhere. The area is vunerable with electricity, it's just forest and fields and you can't survive in the area without a car. Also if you read my comment in context, I don't refer to a completely blind person as a driver, but as a passenger or a stranger outside of the car while visually impaired people do and can drive with the appropriate safety features installed in a vehicle. I resently noticed that a new Kia Niro has the ability to beep on the outside when reversing just like trucks do. It wasn't a very loud noice, just enough to notice. A fantastic tool to signal people of the movements of the vehicle and it's an important safety feature. Pretty sure that some people just turn it off since it's an annoyance.

Vanessa Oelmann couldn't agree more with you. In a VAG car everything is exactly where you expect it to be. And dispite some lack of attention on some models, no one beats vw group on interior quality. When this channel reviewed the Mercedes S class it said that the Audi A8 was edging it on quality. I think that says it all.
Does the quality extend to the emissions cheating device as well? Profit before people’s health,why would anyone want to buy any car from the VW group?
Sonic is not based upon the Rio. Hyundai motor group created a dedicated small SUV platform. Stonic, Kona and Kona EV run on that platform. No other vehicle they manufacture use it. Well, the new Soul will eventually most likely.
Pretty Fresh and good looking. I particularly like how they added all these small details like the storage for sunglasses etc. - They were thinking how can we solve this while keeping the price fairly low. I would take this over a Citroen Cactus.

The real test would be driving in gravel roads. I think all this little SUV like minis are about being able to drive on ocassional gravel roads for the weekend.
The Sat Nav lets all Kia Cars down, Maps are not up to date even after the latest update. Does not show roads such as Dunstable Bypass years after road completion.

We are looking at buying the 1.0 auto. What are these cars like for going distances ie 3,4,5 hour car journeys? What about up and down hills in the Lake District,will it be a struggle? I imagine pottering around town would be fine.

I really like that contrasting roof. I wrapped the roof of my Kona a similar color. (since they are pretty similar)

We are looking at buying the 1.0 auto. What are these cars like for going distances ie 3,4,5 hour car journeys? What about up and down hills in the Lake District,will it be a struggle?
I imagine pottering around town would be fine.
I think the driving position with the high floor and the seats limits journeys to not much over an hour for me.
