Hi, Jaime. I have been doing needlework probably since before you were born and fully support your quitting a piece which no longer meets your aesthetic as a stitcher. Our tastes do change overtime as our lives and interests change. It's perfectly okay. This is a hobby not a paid job. Happy stitching - the projects YOU want to complete in this lifetime!
I totally feel you on excessive background! There's just other things I'd rather be stitching!
Congrats on deciding to quit a piece! Life is too short to work on things we're not happy with. I actually frogged 3 knitting projects this year that I knew I wasn't working on because I didn't like how they were turning out, knew I wouldn't wear them, or just didn't enjoy.
I love that book nook pattern. Yes our tastes change over time. I’ve destashed a bunch of patterns.

Well done on ditching the huge Sailor Moon stitch - stitching time is too short if you don't love it.

Your progress always amazes me. Well done for sticking with the wheel. Rose Khan is fab. I have glimmerstone bakery which is also massive. I agree it's the extra details that keep you going. I have Passion and Power by Selina Fenech and I have chopped loads of background off the edges

Just a thought, you could cut sailor moon in half. Any stitching would likely be in the margin on anything you use the fabric for, so less work overall with no frogging
I bought that chart by Rose Khan a little while ago! I love it! I haven't started it yet, but it's on my list to start this year.
Good choice to ditch the WIP with lots of background. You still have the chart so you can always restart it on a dyed fabric in the future if you wanted to :) On the topic of "retired" HAED artists Ash Evans posted on reddit that they had decided to leave HAED because of AI, not just their use of AI but that HAED were sitting on their artwork for 8 years without charting it and then they were seeing the AI stuff being pushed out daily. They gave HAED a notice period but HAED just immediately took down their charts from the website no announcements so there may be other artists that are disappearing too? And on that note I just saw Unconventional XStitch is going to be charting Omar Rayyan :)
Just finish each girl my them self's if you still desire them. You can do them on different colors of fabric. What ever you choose just be happy. Love love love that new chart
I sat and 'removed' the background on a Medusa Dollmaker chart (Folk Witch) and it cut 30% of the stitching off! Xx

Beautiful new chart. I was thinking, o no don't frog sailor moon. Finish a little bit leg and her hair and she is beautiful on her own. But I do understand, when its not making you happy. Don't stitch it. Have a great weekend.

Aww I’m always so sad when your video is over! I feel like I’m living vicariously through you right now, we had a house fire this week and all of my stitching has severe smoke damage. It might be able to be specially cleaned but I don’t know…
So sorry to hear that. I hope no one was hurt. There are special cleaning companies for smoke cleaning. Check with your insurance company.
Idk if I can take NOT seeing Tonight We Ride get spun😂🤣 I’ve seen all the Love Is Blind except season 6. I hate cliff hangers, so I decided to wait until all the episodes were out😂 guilty pleasure. All the 310 is reminding me of when you did that before- was it Dark October or MAYnia??? lots from the 310 cone😊 I’m knitting a mitered square blanket out of a variegated, long color change yarn, so I only have to weave in ends when I have a new ball👍👍which is great, because I’m lazy😂😂
Not gonna lie, I really thought you were going to be quitting the Haed SAL because of all the drama and sketchiness going on with the AI stuff but I'm glad to see it's one you haven't worked on much. I think it was a good call. I know it's hard though! I've been looking forward to your update all day so it was really nice to catch up.

Hi Jamie, I love your blanket ideas. Is the mitered knitting blanket difficult? I normally knit with knitting needles and not a circular, would that be useable? Is there a good video tutorial you would recommend? Thank you

The knitting blanket is pretty easy. It's mostly just knit stitch with decreases in the center. Knitting needles would work, I've just been using dpns. I followed a tutorial from Anna Knitter. She shows the whole process of making your first square and how to pick up or cast on stitches for the next square.

Hi Jamie! Short question; what kind of tent stitch do you do?
I just do a basic half cross stitch. I've heard some of the other methods like continental could cause distortion.
How big are you doing your mitered squares? I’m starting a memories blanket as soon as I figure out how many sts big to do the squares.
Also are you on Ravelry?
My squares are 40 stitches. I followed a tutorial from Anna Knitter and just did what she said to do.
I'm on ravelry to buy patterns but don't actively post and make project pages currently.

Have you thought about giving away/or selling the charts that you decide to quit?? Just a suggestion. We all have charts that we change our mind about...but someone else might really like it and would finish it. Good luck.
Most of my charts are digital and can't be given away. In the case of the Sailor Moon chart, it's digital and discontinued, so I couldn't even give the fabric to someone and have them purchase the chart because it isn't available
On Sailor Moon, finish the character you’ve started b/c she is gorgeous
